Naomi W. Landis, 78, of Winona Lake, a native of Darke County, Ohio, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw.
She was a homemaker and had taught school in Wilmington, Ohio. She was a member of Pleasant View Bible Church in Warsaw and its Dorcas Circle, a past board member of Warsaw Christian Women's Club and Winsome Women's Organization. Surviving are her husband, Lowell R.; daughters Joy Lavender of Winona Lake and Becky Hill of Vernon Hills, Ill.; sons Rev. Kevin of Cincinnati and Mark of Circleville, Ohio; a brother, Hubert Weisenbarger of North Muskegon, Mich.; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant View Bible Church, Warsaw, with calling from 9 a.m. until services. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery. Memorials are to the church.

Hudson - 1936-2002
Elfriede H. Hughes, 65, of Hudson, a member of Magic Squares Dance Club of Angola, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Cameron Memorial Hospital in Angola.
The Garnavillo, Iowa, native had worked for the Steuben County Treasurer's Office and on the family farm. She was a member of Salem Center Presbyterian Church and Salem Center Home Extension Club. She was a 1955 graduate of the last graduating class of Salem Center High School. Surviving are her husband, John W.; a son, John A. of Pleasant Lake; a daughter, Ruth Beer of Pleasant Lake; a brother, Rudy Stegelmann of Goshen; a sister, Maleen Smith of Angola; two grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda M., a sister and a brother. Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, Hudson, with calling from 6 to 8 p.m. today and also from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be at Circle cemetery, Hudson. Brownsburg - 1934-2002
William P. Hollifield Sr., 68, of Brownsburg, a mortgage banker for 42 years, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Hendricks Community Hospital in Danville.
The Memphis, Tenn., native retired in 1998, was a Realtor and past president of the Indiana Mortgage Bankers Association. He was a member of Speedway Baptist Church, Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors and had served in the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Marie; sons Dr. Michael of Albuquerque, N.M., and William P. of Brownsburg; daughters Deborah Bell of Hagerstown and Connie Smerdel of Brownsburg; a sister, Janet Haigh of Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren. Services were today at Speedway Baptist Church. Burial was at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Zionsville. Memorials are to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

Mary Rose Hole, 96, of Delphos, Ohio, a member of VFW Post 3035 Auxiliary, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at Van Crest Health Care Center. The Cleveland native was a homemaker and member of St. John's Catholic Church. Surviving are sons Howard Smith of Delphos, Donald Smith of Lima, Jack Smith of Indiana, Tom Smith of St. Mary's, Robert J. Smith of Mendon and Oliver Smith Jr. of Findlay; daughters Sally Bohn of Defiance, Isabel Kramer of Fort Jennings, Shirley Perrin and Nancy Rayle, both of Indiana, Mary Lou Sailer of Hicksville, Virginia Clark of Lima and Katheryn Martin of Delphos; brothers Dick and Carl Smith, both of Medina, and Rev. Ralph Smith of California; sisters Lillian of Medina and Evelyn Hunter of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several grand, great-grand- and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands Oliver Smith and Fred Hole, a daughter, Carol King, two brothers and two sisters. Private family services and visitation will be held. Burial will be at Spencerville cemetery.

The Ohio City, Ohio, native retired in 1975 from Rea Magnet Wire Co. in Fort Wayne after 33 years of service and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Surviving are daughters Gloria Doty of Fort Wayne and Jeanette Dall of Carol Stream, Ill.; a sister, Florence Bohnke of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda W., a daughter, LaDonna, a brother and two sisters. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Columbia City. Surviving are her husband, Wayne A.; daughters Debra Bennett, Kathy Webb and Lora Herendeen, all of Columbia City, and Lisa England of Avilla; a son, Dennis of Columbia City; a sister, Willodean Lyons of Huntington; a brother, Frederick D. Harriet "Pat" Moseley, 89, of Warsaw, a retired real estate and property manager, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Miller's Merry Manor.
The Detroit native retired in 1974, attended First Presbyterian Church and served as a tribal elder for the Sault Nation Chippewa Tribe in Michigan. Surviving are daughters Patricia Swords of Lakeport, Mich., Barbara Barrett-Martinez of Warsaw and Judith Cats of Vancouver, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Harriet Hopkins of Michigan; a brother, Frances D. Ramsey of Indian River, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, a son, and a brother. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with calling from 11 a.m. until services. Burial will be at Serenity Gardens, Largo, Fla., and also at Woodmere cemetery, Detroit. Surviving are a daughter, Priscilla Updike of Indianapolis; sons Dennis F. of Huntington and Larry F. of Roanoke; sisters Adeline Martin and Vickie Christman, both of Huntington; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman J., and a brother. Mass of Christian Burial was today at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Huntington.
