Marcile F. Soule, 86, of Fort Wayne, a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Parkview Hospital.
The Allen County native was a homemaker. Surviving are sons Fred F. of Fort Wayne and Stephan W. Carney of Sunbury, Ohio; a daughter, Sara S. Weber of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, Frank R., preceded her in death. The Fort Wayne native retired in 1984 from Dana Corp. and was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Surviving is a sister, Catherine Lickey of Orangevale, Calif. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saint Anne Home Chapel, 1900 Randallia Drive, with calling one hour before services. Burial will be at Catholic cemetery. Joseph E. Truba, 78, of Fort Wayne, a retired sales engineer, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Canterbury Nursing & Rehabilitation.
"He enjoyed stamp collecting, painting and drawing." The Detroit native retired in 1985 from General Electric Co. after 34 years of service. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon for 10 years. He also tutored for Three Rivers Literacy Alliance. Surviving are his wife, K. Marian; a son, Michael A. of Fort Wayne; daughters E. Christine Johnson of Findlay, Ohio, and Anne Marie Truba of Indianapolis; a brother, Roy E. of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. The Muncie native worked at Blue Bell, as a secretary for Charles Yeager Implement, and also at Fibre Form and Weatherhead. She was a member of auxiliaries for VFW, Eagles Lodge 1906 and American Legion 98. Surviving are her husband, Marshall; daughters Sally Souder of Webster Groves, Mo., and Roberta J. Meagher and Lana L. Hendry, both of Columbia City; a sister, Carol Brandt of Columbia City; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Eberhard Lutheran cemetery, Columbia City. A private family calling will be held. Surviving are her daughter, Susan Norris of South Whitley; three grandchildren; 18 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony P., two sisters and two brothers. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at South Whitley United Methodist Church. Richard H. "Zeke" Zubowski, 73, of North Manchester, a member of Knights of Columbus, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
The LaSalle, Ill., native retired as an engineer for Eaton Controls Co. in North Manchester after 42 years of service. He was a graduate of Bradley College. Surviving are his wife, Donna J.; a son, Richard H. of North Manchester; daughters Roberta Rohrer and Becky Timoteo, both of North Manchester, Veronica Zubowski of Marion and Mary Moore of Mount Vernon, Ohio; a brother, Edward of LaSalle; a sister, Jean Stauch of Pulaski, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Robert's Catholic Church, North Manchester. William E. "Bill" Schaffer, 79, of Huntington, a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
The Cromwell, Iowa, native retired in 1986 from Schaffer Electric, which he had owned for 30 years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Jane; daughters Connie Chapin and Jannie Bickel of Huntington; sisters Darlene Sell, Dorothy Hoover and Betty Pulley, all of Huntington; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington, with calling from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday. Entombment will be at Gardens of Memory.
