Thomas K. Stier, 74, of New Haven, a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at VA Hospital.
The Fort Wayne native retired in 1990 as a truck driver at Central Transport and Tokheim. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Teamsters 414, American Legion, VFW and Tokheim Veterans Club. Surviving are his wife, Ramona; daughters Delores A. Motes of Fort Wayne, and Dawn L. Martz of New Haven; sons Dennis L. of New Haven, Donald D. of Inglis, Fla., and Dominic T. of Monroeville; brothers David and Eugene, both of Fort Wayne, Jerry of New Haven, Jack of Washington, and Daniel of Florida; sisters Lois Brock of Muncie, Shirley McCoy of Detroit, Sue Brockman, Alice Barva, Theresa Lott, Colleen Collins, Twyla Whitesell and Linda Wilson, all of Fort Wayne; 27 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons Daniel and Dewayne; a brother and a sister. Services are pending Wednesday. Calling is from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at D.O. Hazel "Helen" M. Gerardot, 88, of New Haven, a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Harborside Healthcare.
The Allen County native was an assembler for more than 16 years at General Electric and owned and operated Gerardot's General Store, Tillman. Surviving are a daughter, Norma J. Shaffer of New Haven; a brother, Howard Kryder of Monroeville; a sister, Betty Zimmerman of Grabill; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew A., a sister and five brothers. Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven, with calling one hour before services. Robert A. Steele, 67, of Fort Wayne, a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne Flying Circuits and League of Silent Fliers, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Parkview Hospital.
The Fort Wayne native retired in 1986 after 20 years as a systems analyst at Phelps Dodge. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy L.; sons David A. and James G., both of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Martha M. Newnum of Fort Wayne; and six grandchildren. The Fort Wayne native was also a musician. Surviving are his wife, Sonja M.; sons Damian and Julian Webb and Elijah MacAfee, all of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Heather Ley of Kentucky; his mother, Phyllis Ley of Fort Wayne; brothers Bruce, Joel, Dennis, Andrew and Matthew, all of Fort Wayne, and Eric of Lafayette; a sister, Elizabeth Ley of Fort Wayne; and one grandchild. Surviving are his wife, Frances; a son, Terry O. of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Linda K. Greenwalt of Indianapolis; a brother, Eugene W. of Clarence, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. The Allen County native was a former Allen County councilman, Milan Township trustee for eight years from 1958 to 1966, and a former member of the Fort Wayne National Bank board Woodburn Branch. He was a member of Woodburn Missionary Church. Surviving are his wife, Loraine; a son, Roger of Harlan; brothers Don and Ross, both of New Haven; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth, a daughter, Ann Oehler, a sister and a brother.
