Brenda J. Bailey
BROOK -- Brenda J. Bailey, 41, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 in her home in Brook. She had been ill 18 months.
She was born Nov. 16, 1960, in Watseka, Ill. She graduated from South Newton High School in Kentland in 1978.
Mrs. Bailey was a laborer with Viskase Corp. in Kentland for 15 years.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Rensselaer.
Her marriage was to Douglas G. Bailey on May 19, 1979 in Brook. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, Joshua S. Bailey, at home; one daughter, Samantha J. Bailey of Brook; her mother, Verna Howe of Morocco; her father, Robert Rudisill (wife: Pat) of Kentland; one sister, Judy Howe (husband: Pete) of Sheldon, Ill.; three brothers, Craig Rudisill of Lafayette, Rodney Rudisill of Huntsville, Ohio, and Russell Rudisill (wife: Linda) of Rankin, Ill.; and a half sister, Ginny Brady of Kentland.
Evelyn Franscoviak
MONON -- Evelyn L. Franscoviak, 85, of 11670 W. County Road 1000 S., died at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2002, in Twin Lakes Village, Monticello. She had been a resident there for four years.
Born Aug. 6, 1916, in Jasper County, she was a life resident of the Monon area. She was a homemaker, and attended the United Methodist Church of Monon.
Her marriage was to Joseph C. Franscoviak on Nov. 23, 1938, in Rensselaer. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Pat Ledyard of Ossian; one sister, Irene Downs of Indianapolis; and two brothers, Francis Norris of Monticello and Fred Norris of Fort Myers, Fla.
James H. Handy
James H. "Jim" Handy, 38, the son of local residents, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 in the Lewis-Gale Medical Center, Salem, Va.
Born April 7, 1963 in Lafayette, he owned and operated Handy Trucking, Inc. He lived in Vesuvius, Va.
Survivors include his parents, Delbert L. and Janet Masterson Handy of Lafayette, and a sister, Ann L. Handy of Riverdale, N.J.
Mary M. Brown
Mary M. Brown, 89, formerly of Monon, died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, in George Davis Manor, where she had resided six years. She had been ill eight years.
She was born in Darlington on Oct. 19, 1912, and was a 1932 Monon High School graduate. On Nov. 25, 1935, in Monon, she married Kennith Brown, and he died March 20, 1971.
Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of Monon United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a brother, Joe Malsbary of West Lafayette.
Helen C. Burt
WILLIAMSPORT -- Helen C. Foreaker Burt, 89, of Williamsport, died at 11:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.
She was born in Eminence Township, Logan County, Ill., on Nov. 26, 1912, and graduated from Elkhart (Ill.) High School in 1930. She had lived in Lincoln, Ill., before moving to Williamsport, where she lived 30 years.
On Nov. 9, 1934, she married William Burt in Lincoln, and he died in 1955. Mr. Burt was a middle management representative in hardware for lumber yards in Lincoln.
Mrs. Burt was a retired matron of Warren County Home and was a member of State Line Christian Church in State Line.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald W. Burt of Williamsport and John M. Burt of Los Gatos, Calif.; and a daughter, Brenda D. Lee of Canoehe, Hawaii.
Services are Thursday in Williamsport.
Howard L. Criswell
KIRKLIN -- Howard L. Criswell, 71, of 1207 E. Karen Road, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in Parkwood Health Care in Lebanon.
He was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Marion County. He graduated from high school in Indianapolis and attended two years of college in Michigan. He married Hortense "Tensie" Damke on June 20, 1964, and she survives.
Mr. Criswell retired from Allison Transmission in 1980 where he was a tool and die maker 30 years. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953.
He was a member of Scotland Christian Church and also attended Thorntown Christian Church.
Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Theresa Lynn Vander Jagt (husband: David) of Anchorage, Alaska.
Vera E. Good
IDAVILLE -- Vera E. Good, 82, of 1014 N. County Road 1250 E., died at 1:39 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in Huntsville, Ala.
She was born June 15, 1919, in Idaville. She married Dale Good on Aug. 16, 1941, in Pulaski, and he died Aug. 28, 1984.
Mrs. Good was a member of the former Pious Chapel Church and attended Idaville Church of God. She worked for many years at Monticello Healthcare.
Surviving are a son, James Good of Idaville, and a daughter, Nancy Monroe of Huntsville.
Services are Wednesday in Monticello.
Robert A. Cavaliere
Robert Anthony Cavaliere, 3, grandson of local residents, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, Fla.
He was born Nov. 17, 1998, in Orlando.
Surviving are his parents, Jeffrey and Cheryl Summers Cavaliere of Apopka, Fla., and a brother, Stephen.
Services are Thursday in Covington.
Pamela K. Memmer
Pamela Kay Reed Memmer, 49, of 1311 Richards St., died at 2:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where she had been a patient since Jan. 24. She had been ill since November.
She was born in Indianapolis on Nov. 9, 1952, and resided in Lafayette 14 years, moving from Greenwood. She graduated from Center Grove High School in Greenwood and was a 1990 graduate of the Ivy Tech School of Nursing.
She married John A. Memmer on May 27, 191988, in Lafayette, and he survives.
Mrs. Memmer was a member of St. Boniface Church. For nine years, she worked in the Internal Medicine Department at Arnett Clinic.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, John B. Memmer (wife: Laura) and Jacob A. Memmer, both of Lafayette; four daughters, Tracie L. Richhart (husband: James) of Bargersville, Andrea M. Memmer, Amanda A. Morgan and Elizabeth C. Memmer, all of Lafayette; a sister, Kathy E. Jones (husband: Bob) of Indianapolis; and three brothers, Bruce Reed (wife: Barb) and Craig A. Reed, both of Greenwood, and Eric W. Reed of Mooresville.
Larry D. Odle
WILLIAMSPORT -- Larry Dean Odle, 60, of rural Williamsport, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Home Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born in Williamsport in Warren County on May 16, 1941. He graduated from Williamsport High School and had lived in Williamsport most of his life.
Mr. Odle was a machinist and mechanic at Hyster Co. in Danville, Ill. He was previously employed at RMC in Attica, Wabash Valley Gravel Co. and Kaniewski & Odle Trucking.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Danville. He enjoyed fishing and racing.
Surviving are his parents, Thomas V. and Nellie Mae Duggan Odle; three sons, Larry A. Odle (wife: Chris) of Danville, Terry D. Odle (wife: Lynda) of Williamsport and Darin K. Odle (wife: Katharine) of Attica; a brother, Tom L. Odle (wife: Lenora) of Williamsport; and three sisters, Dennise Turner (husband: Larry) and Joy E. Beckett (husband: Doug), both of Williamsport, and Jane E. Odle of Palmetto, Fla.
Harold L. Burns
WOLCOTT -- Harold Lloyd Burns, 87, of 210 W. School St., died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 in his residence. He had been ill two months.
Born April 9, 1914 in Wolcott, he was a life resident of the area and a 1932 graduate of Wolcott High School.
Mr. Burns was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Wolcott United Methodist Church, and was a 50-year member of the Wolcott Masonic Lodge 180 F&AM and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 171 of Wolcott.
His marriage was to Jane Johnson on April 25, 1940. She preceded him in death in 1988.
Surviving are a son, James Burns (wife: Karen) of Wolcott; and a daughter, Judy Mason (husband: Bruce) of Indianapolis.
Louise McKillip
WOLCOTT -- Louise McKillip, 85, a former Wolcott resident, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002 in Madera Hospital, Madera, Calif.
Born Nov. 3, 1916 in Iowa, she married Robert McKillip on June 19, 1939 in Steamboat Rock, Iowa. They moved to Wolcott shortly after their marriage. Mr. McKillip died in 1992.
Mrs. McKillip moved to Fresno, Calif., seven years ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Jessing of Madera and Diane Robertson of Newport, Ore.
