Carol J. Eby, 67, of 2131 East Bair Road, Columbia City, IN 46725 died on Wednesday, February 06, 2002 at 9:55 p.m. at her Tri-Lakes residence. She had been in failing health for the past several months.

She was born on April 18, 1934 to Raymond E. and Delilah M. (Miller) Wolferman. Mrs. Eby lived in the New Paris and Goshen, IN areas until 1997 when she moved to her lake home in Thorncreek Township, Columbia City, IN. She retired as the bookkeeper of the Elkhart County Parks Department, Goshen, IN after 23 years of service.

She married Dale E. Eby on July 31, 1976 in Syracuse, IN.

She is survived by her husband, Dale E. Eby, 2131 East Bair Road, Columbia City, IN. Two sisters, Lenna (Kenneth) Traylor, 1795 East Bair Road, Columbia City, IN 46725 and Cynthia Damron of Elkhart, IN. 3 step sons, Ronald Eby of San Antonio, TX, Randall Eby of Prescott, AZ and Roger Eby of Elkhart, IN. Her mother also survives, Delilah M. Wolferman, 904 Blue River Drive, Columbia City, IN 46725. She is preceded in death by her father Raymond Wolferman.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2002 at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN with Pastor Barry Faucett of the New Hope Wesleyan Church, Columbia City, IN officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be given in Mrs. Eby memory to either the Parkview Whitley Home Health Care and Hospice or to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Marabelle Nape, 77, of 300 East Collins Street, Lot 15, Columbia City, IN 46725 passed away at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2002 at the Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, Columbia City, IN. Mrs. Nape and her brother had been involved in a 2 car accident on US 30 and Butt Road in Allen County, IN about 2 weeks ago.

She was born in Noble County, IN on December 12, 1924 to Charles and Pearl (Clingerman) Rosenogle. She attended school at the Wolf Lake High School, Wolf Lake, IN. She was married to Harry L. "Bud" Nape, a native of Carrollton, OH on April 29, 1958 in Michigan City, IN. She was reared in Noble County, IN and moved to Michigan City, IN in 1942 where she resided 30 years before coming to thier lake home in Etna-Troy Township, Whitley County in 1972. In 1999 she moved into Columbia City.

She was first employed at Alcoils, Columbia City, IN from 1973-1979 and then she retired from the Columbia City Nursing Home in December 1986 where she had been employed since 1979. Her memberships include both the Ealges Lodge #1906 and Loyal Order of Moose #1063 Auxillaries, Columbia City, IN.

She is survived by one step daughter, Amy Palmer of Akron, OH and 3 step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. One brother, Walter Rosenogle of Columbia City, IN and one sister, Cecile Roberson of Churubusco, IN.

She in preceded in death by her parents and her husband Harry L. "Bud" Nape who died on January 28, 1996 at his Etna-Troy home. Also preceding her death is 3 sisters Madeline Roberson, Dorothy Arndt and Helen Brunner and 2 brothers Richard and James Rosenogle.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2002 at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2002 at the funeral home with Pastor Orlo Hibbs a retired United Methodist pastor officiating. Burial will be at the Thorn cemetery, Ormas, Noble County, IN.

Ruthie O. Bennett, 79 of Columbia City, IN passed away at her daughter's home in LaPorte, IN at 7:46 p.m. on Wednesday January 30, 2002. Mrs. Bennett had been in failing health for the past several months.

She was born on June 19, 1922 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, IN to Clarence A. and Opal R. (Vance) Brown. Mrs. Bennett spent her adult lifetime in Decatur, IL, Highland, IN, Mishawaka, IN and lastly in Columbia City, IN. She and her husband retired and moved to LaPorte, IN in February 1997 to be near their daughter.

She married Harry Edward Bennett on February 14, 1943 in Columbia City, IN who was the founder of Precision Plastics in 1955. She and her husband were also the founders and former owners of Benny Brook Stables, Columbia City. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Columbia City United Methodist Church and sang in the chamber choir. She also was a Mental Health Association Volunteer Chairperson and a member of the Parlimentary Law and Literary Club.

She is survived by a son, Douglas Dean (Corinne) Bennett of Cambridge, MD and one daughter, Sheryl Ann (Thomas) Edwards of LaPorte, IN. 4 granddaughters, Tiffany Corinne Bennett of Frederick, MD, Kimberly Deana Bennett of Cambridge, MD, Brooke Elizabeth Bennett of Cambridge, MD, Ashley Elizabeth Edwards of LaPorte, IN and grandson, Matthew Thomas Harbur Edwards of LaPorte, IN.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Edward Bennett who died on July 12, 1998 and her parents, Clarence A. and Opal R. (Vance) Brown.

Visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m. until the hour of funeral services which will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2002 at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Burial will be at the Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Mental Health Association or to the donor's choice.

Otto Andrew Boschet, Sr. 85, of 1060 S 50 E, Columbia City, IN passed away on Wednesday January 30, 2002 at 12:40 p.m. at his lake home on Troy Cedar Lake. He was born on May 27, 1916 to Christ and Lillian May (Krewson) Boschet.

He attended Columbia City High School. Mr, Boschet spent his entire lifetime in Whitley County, IN.

He was married to Mary Joan Ross. He was a member of United States Army serving during the 1940's.

He was the owner of Otto's Salvage, Columbia City, which he founded in 1949 and also Otto & Son Resort on Troy Cedar Lake which he developed in 1952.

He was the Past President of the Hoosier Hot Rod Association, served as a Special Whitley County Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Galen Adair through Sheriff Michael Schrader. He was a lifetime member and Past Governor of the Loyal Order of the Moose, lifetime member of the Columbia City American Post #98, Columbia City Elks and Columbia City Eagles Lodge #1906. He was the oldest living member of the Whitley County F.O. P. inwhich he help organize many years ago.

He is survived by one son, Otto Andrew Boschet, Jr. of Columbia City, IN. Step daughters, Lila Arwood of Joilet, IL, Carol Jean Guarjodo of Tulare, CA, Jackie Huntley of Miami, FL, Jane Ann Huntley of Columbia City, IN, Michelle Vincent of Phoenix, AZ, Valerie Vincent of Phoenix, AZ and one step son, James Huntley of Decatur, IN. 9 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. He is also survived by several neices and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Christ and Lillian May Krewson Boschet, one infant brother and three sisters including, Dorothy Bricker, Lucille Pyle and Rosella Harris.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2002 until the hour of services which will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Several of his lodges will be providing memorial services on Saturday afternoon at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the South Park Annex cemetery, Columbia City, IN with graveside military rites being conducted by the American Legion Post #98, Columbia City, IN. Memorial bequests may be given in Mr. Boschet's memory to the donor's choice.

Helen Catherine "Cathy" Mullins, age 58, died at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2002 in her home after a brief illness. She was born on February 2, 1944 in Fort Wayne, IN to Frederick Ervin and Betty Helen Marie (Worrell) Perrey.

She married Roger Mullins on April 5, 1966 in Virginia. She was reared in Fort Wayne, IN and spent her lifetime there until moving to Columbia City in 1977.

Mrs. Mullins was a homemaker and custodian at Thorncreek School. She was a member of the Christ's Covenant Church in Warsaw, IN.

Mrs. Mullins is survived by her husband, Roger, and 4 sons including, James D. (Teresa) Mullins of Russiaville, IN, John D. Mullins of Columbia City, IN, David F. Mullins of Scooba, MS and Jason D. Mullins of Columbia City, IN. She was a loving grandmother of 5 Grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers Michael John Perrey St. Petersburg, FL and Herbert Raymond Perrey, Columbia City, IN. She was preceded in death by both parents in 1992.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2002 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2002. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2002 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home with Pastor Larry McCall of the Christ's Covenant Church, Warsaw, IN, officiating.

Burial will be at the Blue River cemetery, 3395 E 300 N, Thorncreek Township, Columbia City, IN. A possible memorial donation bequest may be given to The Shepherd's Home, 1805 15th Avenue, Union Grove, WI 53182-1597 or to Mountain Top Ministries for Haiti % Calvary Chapel of Danville, 2165 E. Main Street, Danville, IN 46122.

Herbert Dale Sickafoose, 89, of The Towne House Retirement Center, 2209 St. Joe Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN and a former Columbia City resident died at 4:15 am Sunday, January 20, 2002 in the Health Care Center of the home. He had been in failing health for the past several months.

He was born on January 11, 1913 in South Whitley, Whitley County, IN to Milton M. and Ida Bell (Gable) Sickafoose. Mr. Sicksfoose graduated from the Washington Center High School with the Class of 1932. He then served 3 years as SeeBees with United States Navy.

He married Helen Enola Grant on February 11, 1939 in the Grace Lutheran Church, Columbia City, IN by the late Pastor Graham L. Kleespie. He spent his lifetime in the following locations including Columbia City, IN during his formative years and then again from 1939-1959, Hart, Michigan 1957-78, Fort Wayne, IN 1978-1993, Angola, IN 1993-1996 and then he and his wife returned to Fort Wayne.

While a resident of Hart, Michigan he and his wife, Helen, did aspargus farming. The two of them also represented and were in management with Drake Investments of Dayton, OH for 14 years with apartment complexes in Ohio and Fort Wayne, IN. From September 1978 to 1993 he was employed by Superior Powder Coaters of Fort Wayne, IN.

He was a life member of the Fremont Michigan Loyal Order of Moose Lodge and over a 50 year member of the Columbia City American Legion Post 98.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Enola Sickafoose of the Town House Retirement Center, Fort Wayne, IN and one son, James T. (Sally) Sickafoose, Fremont, IN. 3 grandsons including, Tab Roehers of South Bend, IN, Mark and Sean Sickafoose of Fort Wayne, IN. One sister, Jeanette Cox of Columbia City, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Harold Sickafoose and one sister Mildred Ray.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. the Nolt cemetery, 1500 South Washington Road, Columbia City, IN with Pastor Virgil Juillerat, of the Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren officiating along with the Columbia City American Legion Post #98 conducting graveside military rites. The funeral arrangements are by the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Memorial services will be held at the Towne House Retirement Center, Fort Wayne, IN at a later date.

C. Frederick Beeching, age 89, of 1767 Inverness Circle, Columbia City, IN died Thursday, January 17, 2002 at 4:38 a.m. at Sunrise Assisted Living of Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Union Township, Whitley County, Indiana on January 15, 1913 to Charles and Ida M.(Harshbarger) Beeching.

He attended the Union Township grade school and graduated with the Coesse High School Class of 1931. He attended one year at Indiana Tech. Mr. Beeching lived his entire life on his family's farm in Union Township, Whitley County, before moving to Columbia City, IN in February, 1999. Mr. Beeching retired in February 1978 as a model maker in the electonics industry for the former Magnavox Company. For years he also managed and operated the Beeching family farm.

He was first married on October 20, 1937 in Fort Wayne to the former E. Opal Humbarger. She passed away in Columbia City on March 13, 1962. He married his second wife, Eileen E. Leininger, on September 23, 1964. She passed away on June 24, 1976 in Columbia City. His third wife was Wanda L. (Grable) Pettigrew and they were married on March 26, 1977. He was a member of Dunfee Missionary Church.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Beeching of Columbia City, IN, two daughters, Marlyn (Thomas) Pleiman of Findlay, OH and Mrs. Dave (Jana) Thompson of Van Wert, OH, two sons, Donald (Dottie) Beeching of Harrisburg, PA, and Robert (Robin) Beeching of Chicago, IL. Also surviving are three step-sons, James (Jenny) Pettigrew of Columbia City, IN, Steve Pettigrew of Huntington, IN, Dennis (Linda) Pettigrew of Butler, IN, three step-daughters, Mrs. Victoria (Brian) Golembiewski of Porter, IN, Dianne Schoeff of Los Angeles, CA, and Paula Cotterly of Denver, CO. Twenty-three grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Beeching is preceded in death by his parents, his first two wives, two step-daughters, Joan P. Linnemeier died in 1987 and Linda L. Pettigrew died in 1945, sisters, Mary Reehling, Alta Strong, Lura Kissell, Allie Beeching, Leona B. Garrison Fisher and one brother, Brice Beeching.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2002 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, Indiana. Funeral services will be Monday, January 21, 2002 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Martin, Associate Pastor at First Church of God and Pastor Jeff Spence at Dunfee Missionary Church will be officiating. Burial will be at the Riverview cemetery, Carroll Road, Allen County, Indiana. Memorials may be given to SouthernCare Hospice, 4666 W. Jefferson Blvd., Suite 170, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.

Robert M. Hinen, age 71, of 550 E. 1000 S., Columbia City, IN died at 12:51 a.m. on Tuesday January 15, 2002 at the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana where he was taken early Sunday after becoming ill at his home. He was born in Jefferson Township, Whitley County, on March 11, 1930 to Sylvester C. and Anna Marietta (Pequignot) Hinen, Sr.

He graduated from Washington Center High School with the Class of 1948. He entered the military serving with the Military Police during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He spent most of his adult lifetime in Washington Township, Whitley County. He married Joan Trahin on October 23, 1954 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Arcola, IN. Mr. Hinen was a general farmer and also worked at Producer's Marketing Association, Columbia City, IN.

He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and he was a former member of the following organizations, Advisory Board of Washington Township, Whitley County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, the Whitley County Planning Commission, board member of the Whitley County 4-H Clubs and was an active 4-H Leader.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Hinen, Columbia City, IN, daughter, Carol A. (Don) Greulich, Columbia City, IN daughter, Susan M. (Michael) Fry, Fort Wayne, IN son, Donald E. (JoAnn) Hinen, Columbia City, IN, daughter, Janet E. Hinen, Columbia City, IN, daughter, Pat L. (Kirk) Trabert, Columbia City, IN. Also surviving are granddaughters, Cara M. Greulich, Jennifer L. Greulich, Amy E. Greulich, Lauren R. Greulich, Mallory C. Fry, grandson, Steven M. Fry, granddaughters, Bridget A. and Megan E. Hinen, grandsons, John M. Hinen, Joshua R. and Wesley A. Trabert. Also surviving are four sisters, Helen (Russell) Johnson of Huntington, IN, Dorothy (James) Ray of Columbia City, IN, Jean (Jerry) Zorger of Columbia City, IN and Linda Kronenberger of Minneapolis, MN, and a brother, Sylvester (Kay) Hinen, Jr. of Columbia City, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 17, 2002 at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, Indiana with a Rosary service being held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will also be held after 9:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2002 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, 9989 S. State Road 9, Columbia City, Indiana with the funeral mass following at 10:00 a.m. with Father Kenneth Sarrazine officiating. Burial will be at the St. Catherine's Catholic cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Hinen's memory to either Masses or to the Preservation Fund of St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
