Patrick J. Barton
Patrick J. Barton, 49, formerly of Lafayette, died at 4:28 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, in Elkhart General Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born in Oxford on June 22, 1952, and graduated from Benton Central High School. He married Carol Calloway in Lafayette in 1972, and she survives.
Mr. Barton was a tool and dye maker for several years in the RV industry until his 1999 disability. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving with his former wife are a daughter, Shiloh Sulfridge (husband: Troy) of Portsmouth, Va., and a brother, Paul Barton (wife: Shirley) of Rainsville.
Services are Wednesday in Elkhart.
Christina M. Watkins
Christina M. Watkins, 19, a former local resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, from injuries she received in an accident in Peru, Ind. She lived at 68 E. Second St., Peru.

Helen M. Slipher
Helen M. Slipher, 89, a former Lafayette resident, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001.
She was born March 30, 1912. She grew up in Lafayette and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1930 and Purdue University in 1934. She was member of Alpha Chi Omega at Purdue and served many years as president and treasurer of the Arizona chapter.
She married David C. Slipher after college. They moved to New York City to start a family and pursue a home building career that led them to Los Angeles during the '30s, '40s and '50s, where they raised their three sons. After her children were grown, Mrs. Slipher traveled across America and Canada for 20 years, coming home in 1987 over the Oregon Train to Portland.
Surviving is a son, Allan (wife: Kathy) of Portland, Ore.
Horace T. Ford
Horace T. Ford, 82, of 20 Lori Lee Drive, died at 10:02 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, in St. Mary Healthcare Center in Lafayette.

Paul W. Bruner
OTTERBEIN -- Paul W. Bruner, 75, of 603 S. Main, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in Tucson, Ariz.
He was born June 20, 1926, in Boswell. He resided in the Otterbein area his entire life. He attended Rainsville School. He married Carol Webb on Sept. 5, 1969, in Las Vegas, and she survives.
Mr. Bruner was a supervisor for rail car repair division at Itel-Pullman Leasing Co. in Danville, Ill. He was a member of the Antioch Christian Fellowship, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and Otterbein American Legion Martin Kennedy Post 125. He enjoyed music, fishing and hunting.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Peggy Anderson (husband: Bill) and Benita Smith (husband: Gil), both of Oxford; two sons, Russell Bruner (wife: Beverly) and Denny Bruner (wife: Linda), both of Oxford; a stepdaughter, Teresa Swanson (husband: Bill) of Portland; and a stepson, Gregory Alan Powell of Leavenworth, Kan.
Thomas A. Hickman
FRANKFORT -- Thomas A. Hickman, 84, of 157 W. Antioch Road, died at 2:24 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Frankfort. He married Martha Belle Meeker on Nov. 24, 1938, and she survives.
Mr. Hickman was a machinist at Nickle Plate for 25 years and at Continental Steel in Kokomo for 19 years. He retired in 1979. He was a lifelong Clinton County resident.
He graduated from Jackson Township School in 1935. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church and was a 50-year member of Mechanicsburg Lodge.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, James K. Hickman (wife: Sally) and Richard S. Hickman (wife: Linda), and a daughter, Pat Schimmel (husband: John), all of Frankfort.
Eloise T. Pugh
Eloise Thompson Pugh, 86, of 145 N. Bolton St., Romney, W.Va., mother of a West Lafayette resident, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Mrs. Pugh served as the Hampshire County public health nurse, school nurse for the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind, director of nursing at Hampshire Memorial Hospital and Kidwell Nursing Home in Romney.
Born Dec. 11, 1915, in Three Churches, W.Va., she graduated from Romney (W.Va.) High School and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Cumberland, Md.
Mrs. Pugh was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Wappacoma Post 1101 Auxiliary and American Legion Hampshire Post 91 Auxiliary. She was a member and past matron of Romney Chapter 84 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, Lewis D. Pugh; two daughters, Ellen Pugh Mason (husband: Dr. William) of Winchester, Va., and Jean Pugh Hamilton (husband: James) of West Lafayette.
Caleb N. Hucks
Caleb N. Hucks, 28, of 2354 N. 20th St., died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in his home.
Mr. Hucks was a tool and production man at Caterpillar.
Born Jan. 24, 1973, in Rochester, he attended Tippecanoe High School in Akron, Ind., and graduated from Kokomo High School in 1991. He also attended Ball State University for two years.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Carol and George Graham of Akron, Ind.; his father, Vernon D. Hucks Jr. of Carlisle; his stepmother, Janice McCabe of Evansville; four sisters, Robin Heckman (husband: Ed) of Akron, Ind., Jessica Dubois (husband: Jeff) of Indianapolis, Sarah Long of Evansville and Charity Graham of Goshen; and three brothers, Uriah Graham of Tippecanoe, Matt Long of Lafayette and Evan Hucks of Evansville.
Jerry L. Price
BROOKSTON -- Jerry Lee Price, 58, of 60 Spring St., Peru, died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He formerly lived in Brookston and Lafayette.
He was born July 25, 1943, in Lafayette, and earned his GED. He was on disability from Caterpillar Inc. where he was a floor technician. He also had been a cook at the Red Barn in Attica.
Mr. Price, who was a lance corporal in the Marine Corps and served from 1960 to 1964, was a life member of VFW 1154 in Lafayette and the VFW in Evansville.
His marriage was to Carol Burkhardt. They were divorced, and she died in April 2001.
Surviving are five children, Beth, Jerry Lynn, Kelly, Jerry Jr. and Robert; three brothers, Jack Price of Missouri, Max Price of Romney and Chuck Price of Delphi; and two sisters, Connie Kennedy of Lafayette and Carol Martin of Rossville.
Karen Younkin
Karen Younkin, 44, of 26 Point East, died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Home Hospital.

Glenda L. Seymour
HILLSBORO -- Glenda L. McCutchan Seymour, 65, died in the emergency room of the St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002. She lived at 357 Indiana 341 S.
Born July 12, 1936, in Rockville, she spent most of her life in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1954.
Mrs. Seymour was a secretary for Pro-Gain Feeds in Hillsboro for 35 years. She and her husband owned and operated Montana's Bar and Grill in Hillsboro.
She was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and, for several years, she taught Sunday school. She also was a member of the Hillsboro Harmony Club and was a Girl Scout leader.
Her marriage was to Doniel L. Seymour on April 27, 1957, at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kendra L. Seymour of Hillsboro; one son, Mark Seymour (wife: Kathy) of Hillsboro; and two sisters, Gale Whitaker (husband: Bill) of Zionsville and Sharon Summers (husband: Jim) of Freeport, Ill.
Curtis M. Hoffman
Curtis M. Hoffman, 32, of 407-704 Ferry St., died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Born May 30, 1969, in Portsmouth, Va., he spent most of his life in Lafayette and was a 1987 graduate of Jefferson High School.
Mr. Hoffman had been employed at Ace Hardware in West Lafayette the past five years and was a manager.
He enjoyed cooking and auto racing.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Moore of Lafayette; his father, Gary Hoffman of Portsmouth, Va.; his foster parents, Shellie and Randy Rodarmel of Lafayette; a sister, Shannon Childers, and three brothers, David A. Thomas (wife: Carlie), Roger Moore and Dustin Childers, all of Lafayette.
Tamara Grovak
Tamara Sue "Tammy" Steensma Grovak, 41, of 3118 Soldiers Home Road, WL, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Jeanette Tatlock
Jeanette Busing Tatlock, 77, of West Lafayette, died at 12:07 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002 at ISH of Cambridge in Indianapolis.
Born July 7, 1924, in Cynthiana, she graduated from Hausbstadt High School in 1942. She received a bachelor's degree in 1945 from Indiana State Teachers College and went on to earn her master's degree.
Mrs. Tatlock taught school in the Lafayette School Corp. for 25 years, retiring June 1, 1986. She taught English and business education at Tecumseh Middle School and Jefferson High School.
She married Kenneth L. Tatlock on Jan. 2, 1946 in San Diego. He preceded her in death April 1, 2001.
Mrs. Tatlock was listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities, 1944-45.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynne Tatlock (husband: Joseph Loewenstein) of St. Louis; one son, Gary K. Tatlock (wife: Nina) of Indianapolis; and a brother, Robert B. Busing (wife: Mary Jane) of Anderson.
