Laura B. Smith
Laura Bell Smith of Bloomington passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Brown County Health and Living Community at the age of 88.
Laura was born on January 31, 1922 into the home of Fount Capps and Dell (Bean) Capps in Burksville, KY. She was married to Oscar Smith. Laura retired from the Indiana University, Indiana Memorial Union where she worked in the Bakery Department.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar Smith (1975); daughters, Wyoma Hudson and Bonnie Ann Smith; son, Fred Smith; brothers, Tom, Marshal, and Nile; sisters, Maggie, Effie, and Nellie.
Laura is survived by her daughters, Christine Harmon of Harrodsburg, Irene (Larry) Moore of Bloomington, and Mary (Kenny) Downs of Bloomington; brother, Charles Capps of Bloomington; daughter-in-law, Sherry Smith of Ellettsville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Brother John Baker officiating. Burial is to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 until the time of services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Chandler Funeral Home.

Eunice Mae Figg
Eunice Mae Fig, 86, of Ellettsville passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 6, 2011 with her loving family by her side.
Eunice was born in Greene County, Indiana to Augdeon and Nancy (Nation) Burch on April 14, 1924. She was married to Thomas Nelson Figg on August 5, 1945; they shared 65 years together on their farm and raised their family. After graduating from Ellettsville High School, Eunice worked at RCA during the war. She loved cooking, baking and watching the wildlife outside her window. She especially liked working in her garden and sharing her bounty with family and friends. Eunice attended Old Dutch Community Church and was a member of the Old Dutch Ladies Aid. Eunice will be missed dearly by her loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Jerry Warthan, and seven siblings.
Eunice is survived by her husband, Thomas Nelson Figg; sons, Samuel (Jody) and Timothy (Vicki) Figg; daughters, Treva Warthan and Vera Figg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty Skirvin. A special thanks to Debbie Shean who was a wonderful caretaker for Eunice.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Steve Warthan officiating. Burial is to follow at Old Dutch cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Dutch Community Church cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home.

Carl D. Kale
Carl D. Kale, 77, of Ellettsville died at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on Monday, August 8, 2011.
He was born in Monroe County, Indiana on March 21, 1934 to Carl O. and Maggie B. (May) Kale. He was married to Jane (Gillespie) Kale. Carl worked at RCA until his retirement after 34 years of service. He was an active member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church and the Ellettsville Masonic Lodge #245. Carl enjoyed coaching Little League Baseballin Ellettsville for 10 years.
Carl's nickname was "Chin" because he liked to talk so much.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Kale; son, Tony Kale (Rhonda) of Ellettsville; daughters, Marcell Landreth (Steve) of Ellettsville and Carla Pruett (Brian) of Gosport; sisters, Vivian Young, Dortha Prather, and Wanda Frye all of Ellettsville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold Kale.
Funeral services will be on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend John Turner and brother Don Cooter officiating. Burial is to follow at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Visitation will beat Chandler Funeral Home on Thursday, from 4:00-8:00.

Neva V. Taylor
Neva V. Taylor of Gosport passed away at the Meadow Lakes Retirement Center in Mooresville on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the age of 69.
Neva was born on August 4, 1941 in Illinois to Leo Pete Shelley and Helen (Lane) Shelley. She worked at Cook Inc. in Bloomington for over 30 years until her retirement. Neva enjoyed spending her free time serving on the Gosport VFWs Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Gosport Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Taylor on March 16, 2005 and daughter, Lisa Taylor.
Neva is survived by her son, Eric Taylor and his wife Beth; granddaughters, Sara, Katie, and Allie Taylor all of Mooresville; sisters, Sharon Pacala of Worthington and Lana Parrish of Gosport; brothers, Larry Shelley of Gosport, Gary Shelley of Ellettsville, and Tary Shelley of Gosport and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Clayton officiating. Burial is to follow at Gosport cemetery. Friends may call upon the family at the funeral home from 11:00 until 1:00 Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association

Mary Mullin
Mary Louise (Wall) Mullin of Spencer, formerly of Gosport, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Monroe Hospital at the age of 83.
She was born on August 6, 1927 into the home of William Otto Wall and Helen (Morris) Wall in Spencer. She was a homemaker and cooked at various locations for several years including the Gosport Nursing Home. She loved gardening and crocheting. Mary was a member of the Gosport Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, Forrest Mullin (March of 1997) and brothers, John, Lee Roy, and Dale.
Survivors include daughters, Linda (Richard) Burton and Leanne (Pat) Barnes; sisters, Lorine Ault, Virginia Hendershot, Doris Sheise, and Carolyn (Wayne) Goldsby; brothers, Robert, Harold, and Larry; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one step grandchild, and seven step great-grandchildren all of Owen County.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Billy Williams officiating. Burial is to follow at Gosport cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 4-8 at the funeral home.

Lester L. May
Lester L. May, 77, of Bloomington went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at IU Health, Bloomington Hospital.
Lester was born on July 24, 1933 in Monroe County into the home of Lester W. Happy May and Alice L. (Freeman) May. He retired from Indiana Gas and was owner of Mays Cleaning Service. He loved spending his free time working on cars and swimming with his grandchildren. Lester was a member of the 16th Street Pentecostal Church where he also served as an usher and deacon. He loved his family and grandchildren and was very fond of his dog, Waylon.
Lester is survived by his wife, Janice May; daughter, Debbie Butcher and her husband Devry; son, Doug May all of Bloomington; sister, Joyce Birch of Gosport and four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul and John May; sister, June Hawkins; and three unborn sons.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Melvin Nead and Brother Adam Strauser officiating. Burial is to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, May 6, 2011from 3:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

James Lowell Elliott
James Lowell Elliott, 91, of Ellettsville passed away on Sunday evening March 27, 2011 at his residence.
Lowell was born April 7, 1919, the son of Frank Westmoreland Elliott and Else Mae Headdy Elliott Thomas. He served in the United States Army in theSouth Pacific during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 604, serving as an officer before becoming ill. He was retired from Weddle Brothers Construction Company where he worked from 1953 until his retirement in 1981 and was a member of Laborers and Hod Carrier Local 741. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Gosport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lorean Edwards, Leota Terman, and Catherine Parris; and brothers, Herman Elliott, Winfred Headdy, and Charles Elliott.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years Dorothy (Steele) (House) Elliott; children, Pattie (Ejnar) Kirk of Thisted, Denmark and son, Lowell Gene (Janet) Elliott of Unionville; five grandchildren; brother, Paul Russell Elliott ; sisters, Genelle Kearney and Erma Rose Fox; stepchildren, David (Betty) House of Bloomington, Dennis (Mary Ann) House of Phoenix, AZ, Lisa Massey of Springfield, MO, Lori (Andy) LeBlanc of Winter Haven, FL and nine step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jon Miller and Pastor Jim Barr officiating. Burial is to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 and again one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his church; Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, 3191 W. Burma Road, Gosport, Indiana 47433 or Hospice of Bloomington Hospital.

Donald E. Carpenter
Donald E. Carpenter, 77, of Bloomington passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 13, 2011.
He was born in Belmont County, Ohio on June 26 1933, to Otis and Bertha Carpenter. Donald was a Marine that served during Korean War. Don moved to Indiana with RCA andworked with RCA until he retired. He also worked at Osco/CVS in Bloomington.
His survivors include his wife Geneva, two daughters Cheryl Burris and Carla Ward; two sons, Steve and Scott; brother Darryl of Barnsville, Ohio;two grandsons, andthree granddaughters.
The family will have a small private service at home at a later date. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made directly to the family.

LaDonna M. Moore
LaDonna May Moore, 69, of Bloomington passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Garden Villa surrounded by her loving and faithful family.
She was born in Petersburg in Pike County, Indiana on May 25, 1942 into the home of the late Royal Blythe Pancake and Marie (Elliott) Pancake. She was married 50 years to Ralph Moore. LaDonna worked at many different jobs including RCA, Cook Inc., and GE. She was a Pink Lady at Bloomington Hospital where she attended to patients and made beautiful flower arrangements in the gift shop. She excelled at making every holiday and family get together special ones and her Sunday dinners were a great source of joy for her family and friends. LaDonna was of the Christian faith and had a great relationship with God. She was a member of the Cruisin Classics Car Club of Bloomington along with her husband.
LaDonna is survived by her husband, Ralph Moore of Bloomington; son, Johnathon Moore (Teri) of Weston, FL; daughter, Misty Deckard (Scott) of Bloomington; grandchildren, Brianne Deckard of Bloomington, Sami Moore, Gabi Moore, and Jilli Moore all of Weston, FL; brother, Bob Pancake (Nellie) of Indianapolis; sister-in-laws, Lela Pancake, Eloise Pancake and Barbara Atwood; brother-in-law, Bill Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by not only her parents, but brothers; Wayne and Harold Pancake and sister, Pat Wilson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Woodhaven Christian Church on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Private family inurnment will be held at Garrison Chapel cemetery. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bloomington Hospital Hospice or to The American Cancer Society.

Wiley H. Boyer
Wiley H. Boyer, 83, of Ellettsville passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Richland Bean Blossom Health Care Center.
He was born in Little River County, Arkansas on September 13, 1927 to Henry Earl Boyer and Lena (Barton) Boyer. He was a graduate of Bloomington High School. He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII. Wiley had owned his own bulk milk truck for several years, drove a truck for Moon Freight Lines until his retirement, and was active in the Bloomington Farmers Market from 1983 until 1993. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as traveling.
Wiley is survived by his wife, Janice (Chambers) Boyer; son, Roy Boyer and his wife Rita all of Ellettsville; two granddaughters, Alina and Mary Beth; brother, Robert Boyer of Bloomington; sister, Mildred Hennessy of Nashville, IN and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pauline Bailey and one brother, Melvin Boyer.
A memorial service for Wiley will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.
At the families request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Mark W. Evans
Mark W. Evans, 38, of Bloomington passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 30, 2011.
Mark was born in Idar-Oberstein West Germany on February 2, 1973 to William J. Evans and Nancy (Rexin) Evans. He was a student attending Ivy Tech in Bloomington for HVAC.
Mark is survived by his wife, Alice (Clay) Evans; sons, Anthony Evans and Jonathan Evans; daughters, Sierra Evans and Mercedes Evans and mother, Nancy Evans all of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his father, William and his brother, James P. Evans.
A memorial service will be held at the Grace Fellowship Assembly of God, 915 South Washington Street Bloomington on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 6:00 to 7:00 with inurnment to follow at a later date at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions for Marks burial space be sent to: Valhalla Memory Gardens RE: Mark Evans 310 N. Johnson Ave. Bloomington, IN 47404.

Michael G. Anderson
Michael G. Anderson, 56, of Gosport passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at his residence.
Michael was born in Lafayette, Indiana on January 3, 1955 to Charles and RoseMary (Sewell) Anderson. He graduated from Benton Central High School in Oxford, IN. Michael worked in construction, tile work, and auto body repair. He enjoyed his friends, family, art, and riding his Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, Bonnie Justice; son, Corey Bowlin; grandson, Caleb; brother, Dewey (Yolanda) Anderson; sisters, Patti (Mark) Tyler and Theresa Anderson; nieces, Tasha (Kevin) Ramsey; Tana Tyler, Kara Tyler, Danielle Anderson, and Ashlee Terry; mother and father, Charles and RoseMary Anderson; and best buddy, David Sebree III
A celebration of life for Michael will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville. Visitation will be from 3:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

David L. Cook
David L. Cook of Cloverdale passed away at Indiana University Health-Bloomington Hospital on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the age of 62.
David was born into the home of Robert Earl Cook and Beulah (Guy) Baber in Clay City, Indiana on December 6, 1948. He worked at Indiana Hardwood in the sawmill. David enjoyed collecting coins, fishing and was a movie connoisseur having many movies to enjoy in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Max Cook and infant brother, Bobby Cook.
David is survived by his daughters, Heather Donovan and husband James of Bloomington and Mary Cook of Ellettsville; mother, Beulah Baber of Cloverdale; siblings, Darlene Bilderback and husband Butch of Lebanon, Jerry Cook and wife Karen of Elkins, KY, Joellen White and husband Albert of Spencer, Diane Carter of Gosport, Earl Cook of Ellettsville, and Donna Stipp and husband Dr. Todd of Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Aaron Strunk officiating. Burial services will be held at a later date at Wilkinson cemetery in Poland, IN. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 until the time of services.
