Frank J. Simmons

Frank J. Simmons, 93 years old of Lafayette, IN, died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 in St. Mary Healthcare Center.
Born May 27, 1913 in Spencer, TN, he was the son of the late Joseph Simmons and the late Dorcus Schockley Simmons. On June 8, 1938, in Delphi, he was married to Margaret Erwin, who preceded in death on April 29, 1997.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He was also a Golden member of the Eagles Lodge. An avid bowler, Frank was a member of the Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He wrote "The History of Lafayette Bowling 1900-1986."
He worked as a serviceman for Sears for twenty years, retiring in 1975. He had also owned and operated the Lahr House Antiques in Lafayette and refinished furniture.
Surviving are 2 Sons, Dennis Simmons and his wife Helen, of Lafayette, IN, Roger Simmons and his wife Janice, of Bellingham, MA; two grandchildren, Amanda and Ryan; and one great-grandson Kanin Simmons.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Friends will be received at the Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Lafayette, Indiana. on Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Services will be held at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Monday, May 7, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Erwin officiating.
Interment will follow in the Chalmers cemetery, Chalmers.

Betty J. Ledman
June 30, 1930 - May 01, 2007
Betty J. Ledman, 76 of Logansport, IN, died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2007 in Chase Nursing Center.
Born June 30, 1930 in Cass County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Dale A. and the late Vera A. Holmes Ledman.
She was a member of Royal Center Chapter of the Eastern Star. As a member of the Mothers of DeMolay, she was presented the "Hat's Off" award in 1975 by the Logansport DeMolay. She was a member of the Cass County Teachers Association. As a member of several stitching clubs, Betty enjoyed stitching, beading, and knitting. She also enjoyed bowling..
Miss Ledman was a music teacher for over 30 years, teaching at Franklin Elementary and Columbia Elementary Schools in Logansport.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including 2 Nephews, David Spradlin of Burnettsville, IN, and Larry Spradlin of Elko, NV who were raised in her home; Brother, Ralph Ledman of Lafayette, IN; Aunt, Marjorie Ewbank, PA; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by sister, Lois Spradlin, who died in 1972. .
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 4 at the Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, Indiana.
Services will be held at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope cemetery, Logansport, Indiana.
Contributions may be made to the Riley Hospital for Children.

Madeline Lux Stephens
August 05, 1922 - January 11, 2007
Madeline Lux Stephens, born August 5, 1922 in Logansport, Indiana the daughter of Carl Lux and Mary Dunn Lux, died January 11, 2007 at Hospice Savannah. Mrs. Stephens the youngest of three children known as “Dixie” moved to Florida in 1923 with her family. She was a graduate of the Logansport High School and attended Purdue and the University of Delaware. Mrs. Stephens was a member and Deacon of the United Community Church in Sun City Center Florida and was an avid golfer, tennis player and loved to play bridge and poker.
Mrs. Stephens was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Stephens, her daughters, Kathleen Stephens Patzman and Patricia Stephens Thurman.
Surviving are, her son, Thomas C. Stephens and wife Diana of Savannah, GA, her sister, Kathleen Hill of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren; Heather Patzman McAvoy and husband Peter of Boston, MA, Marlies Patzman Lissack and husband Kyle of Philadelphia, PA, Frederick Patzman and wife Sarah Vallely of London, Gentry Thurman, Harrison Thurman, Andrew Thurman all of Pittsburg, PA, Elisabeth Stephens of New York City, Thomas Stephens of Boston, MA and Michael Stephens of New York City, great grandchildren; Connor and Kathryn McAvoy of Boston, MA, Ian, Kathleen “Dixie” and Julia all of Philadelphia PA.
Burial will be in Logansport, Indiana at a later date.
Private graveside services, with Rev. Mark Sloss officiating, will be in Mount Hope cemetery.

Gladys Iona Vance
April 20, 2007
Gladys Iona Vance, 83 years old of Clarks Hill, IN, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at Williamsburg Health Care in Crawfordsville.
Born January 29, 1924 in Stockwell, IN, she was the daughter of the late John R. and the late Goldie G. Barnaby.
She was a member of Clarkshill Christian Church.
She worked for Landis Gyr from 1953 to 1989, when she retired.
Surviving are 2 Daughters, Karen (Richard) A. Loden of Marshall, IN, Janet C. Maitlen of Lafayette, IN; A Sister, Mary J. Sipple of Clarkshill, IN; 4 Grandchildren, Sheri King, Darren Thomas, Toby Thomas, and Sean Maitlen; and 6 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Vance; her parents; a sister, Ellen Wilson; a brother, Fred Barnaby; and a son-in-law, Dennis Maitlen.
Friends will be received Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel in Lafayette, Indiana.
Services will be held at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Brother Don Perry officiating.
Interment will follow in the Concord cemetery, Stockwell, Indiana.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Grundy Mountain Mission School.

Benita Beva Raderstorf
January 03, 1935 - April 21, 2007
Benita Beva Raderstorf, 72 of Logansport, IN, died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007 in her residence.
Born January 3, 1935 in Pulaski County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Everett James and Geneva Waunita Geisler Musall. On May 28, 1971, in her parent's home in White County, she was married to Joseph Lee "Joe" Raderstorf, who survives.
A homemaker, she was a 1953 graduate of Idaville High School.
Benita was a member of Shiloh Christian Church, where she was active in the women's fellowship. She was also a member of the Church Women United in Cass County. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and gardening. She especially enjoyed being with her family and going to her grandchildren's activities.
Surviving with her husband are 3 Sons, Jay (Kim) Raderstorf of Nyona Lake, IN, Aric (Kathy) Raderstorf of Royal Center, IN, and Dirk (Lisa) Raderstorf of Royal Center, IN; 3 Daughters, Pat (Steve) Plank of Galveston, IN, Lucinda (Dan) Beall of Rome City, IN, and Darla (Scott) Foerg of Logansport, IN; Brother, Lester Musall of Winamac, IN; Sister-in-law, Keneta Musall of Royal Center, IN; Nineteen Grandchildren; Seven Great-Grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews and an extension of her own family - her Shiloh Christian Church family.
She was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence; one brother, James Musall, and one grandson, Ian Raderstorf.
Friends will be received 3-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 24 in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, Indiana.
Services will be held at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Tim McKaig officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Hope cemetery, Logansport, Indiana.
Contributions may be made to the Shiloh Christian Church and Guardian Angel Hospice.

Eugene Ritchey Moore
May 23, 2007
Eugene Ritchey Moore, 93 years old, of West Lafayette, IN, died Wedensday, May 23, 2007 in Westminster Village.
Born February 27, 1914 in Lafayette, IN, he was the son of the late Richard A. Moore and the late Nancy Ritchey Moore.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and he also served as Tippecanoe County Commissioner and Wea Township trustees.
Engaged in farming his entire life, he farmed the Wea area land his family settled in 1829.
Surviving are one son Eugene R. Moore Jr. and his wife Nancy, Lafayette; one daughter Nancy Chrisman and her husband Ray, Michigan; one sister Marge Halstead, Lafayette; Five grandchildren; Craig Moore and his wife Tracy, Jeffery Moore and his wife Jill, Ritchey Moore and his wife Sara, all of Lafayette, and John Chrisman and Cara Chrisman, Michigan; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Moore, who died on November 2, 2002.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the services at the at the Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Lafayette, Indiana.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 29th, in Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jacobs Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in the Spring Vale cemetery, Lafayette, Indiana.
Contributions may be made to the Wea Township Fire Deptment or Trinity United Methodist Church.

Paul J. Kapes
February 11, 1911 - June 07, 2006
Our nation is in mourning...a Veteran died today...
Paul J. Kapes, 95, Monticello, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 10:45 p.m. in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center, Monticello. Born February 11, 1911, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of John and Mary (Juhasz) Kapes.
He was married May 27, 1950, in Chicago, IL, to Mildred (Dust) Kapes, who preceded in death June 21, 2006.
Mr. Kapes was a truck driver for E.I. Dupont, East Chicago, from which he retired. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. He was also a member of the VFW post #81, Monticello. He enjoyed playing the banjo, and had played in a banjo band. He was a devoted husband to his wife, having been married over 56 years before her death last year.
Surviving are 2 Nieces, Margaret M. Rossiter of Downers Grove, IL, and Claudette E. Binkowski of Downers Grove, IL; 2 Great-Nieces, Cynthia M. Rossiter of Downers Grove, IL, and Cheryl M. (Thomas) Cavanaugh of Downers Grove, IL; a Great-Nephew, Kenneth J. (Diane) Rossiter of Plainfield, IL; and a Great Great Nephew, Robert J. Visher of Downers Grove, IL
Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.
Services will be at Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 13, 2006, 11 a.m. with Father James Goodrum officiating.
Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home.

Lori J. Burnett
December 03, 1961 - June 04, 2007
Lori Burnett, 45, West Lafayette, died June 4, 2007, at 12:40 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette from complications of a rare disease.
Born December 3, 1961, in Elwood, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Jane Cassidy. Her mother survives.
A 1980 graduate of Harrison High School, she graduated with honors from Indiana Business College.
Her marriage on July 12, 1997, in Lafayette, was to Bruce E. Burnett, who survives. He is self-employed as a carpenter.
Mrs. Burnett was employed with Can-Am Steel.
Also surviving are one daughter, Tara Burnett, at home; two brothers, Drew Cassidy, Kansas, and Mike Cassidy, Lafayette; two sisters, Karen Clary, Elwood, and JoAnne Love, Kentucky; and one granddaughter, Morgan Click.
Her father preceded in death.
There will be no services. Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
A trust fund has been established at Lafayette Savings Bank in Bruce E. Burnett's name to assist Lori's family with final expenses.
