Martha Louise Miller
January 30, 1918 - June 14, 2006
Former Lafayette resident passes away in Kalamazoo, Michigan
Martha L. Miller, 88, of Portage, Michigan, and formerly of Lafayette, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Born January 30, 1918, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Clarence and Lucille Mercer Bock. On March 16, 1946, in Muncie, she married Philip Miller, who preceded in death in 1986.
She was a 1939 graduate of the University of Wisconsin where she earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Social Work. She came to the Lafayette area in 1974 after living in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She worked as a news editor for Area IV Agency on Aging in Lafayette for 11 years, retiring in 1991.
Surviving are one daughter, Christine Miller and her husband Robert Morris, of Portage; one son, Philip Miller, of Battleground; two granddaughters, Haley Miller and Kelsie Miller; and one great-granddaughter, LaShae Miller.
Friends will be received at the Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Lafayette, Monday, June 19, 2006, from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2006, with Celebrant Carla Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Area IV Agency on Aging and Community Action.

Darrel (Mike) Rice
December 07, 1951 - June 14, 2006
Darrel "Mike" Rice, 54 years old of Lafayette, IN, died unexpectedly Monday, June 12, 2006 in Home Hospital.
He was born December 7, 1951 in Greenville, Kentucky, Son of the late Darrel and the late Jill Boggess Rice. He married Jody Brockman on April 19, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada and she survives. He worked for Purdue University in the print shop.
He was a former member of the Kennel Club. He enjoyed playing the guitar, mushroom hunting and gardening.
Surviving with his wife, are several Aunts and Uncles.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
A Memorial Service to be held at a later date. Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service is entrusted with caring for the family.
Memorial Donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.

Keith (Tiny) Allen Rechkemmer
July 28, 1953 - June 14, 2006
Gone too soon... Tiny will be be missed by those who loved him dearly
Keith "Tiny" Allen Rechkemmer, 52 of Logansport, IN, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006 in his residence.
He was born July 28, 1953, in Lafayette, the son of the late Wayne Rechkemmer and Carol Troxel Rechkemmer. His mother survives in Lafayette. He was married January 8, 1973, in Danville, Illinois, to Angela Johnson, who survives.
He was a supervisor for Con Agra in Peru. For 20 years, he worked at Wilson Foods and then worked for 8 years at Trelleborg. He had also worked at Career Resources.
"Tiny" loved the outdoors and enjoyed archery, hunting and fishing.
Surviving with his wife and mother are one son, Keith Rechkemmer II and his wife Dorothy, Logansport; two daughters, Tracy Timmons and her husband, Dennis, Burnettsville, and Tysie Lambert and her fiance, Steven Lewis, Logansport; three brothers, Ronald Rechkemmer, Lafayette, Michael Rechkemmer, Virginia, and Robin Rechkemmer, Lafayette; and eleven grandchildren.
Friends will be received 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, Indiana.
Services will be held at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Friday, June 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park Rest, Logansport, Indiana.

Douglas Wayne Titus
April 28, 1962 - June 13, 2006
A life too brief...but one filled with so much love
Douglas Wayne Titus, 44 of Walton, IN, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at 11:20 p.m. in Dukes Hospital, Peru.
He was born April 28, 1962 in Logansport, IN, the son of Richard L. and Mary E. Burkett Titus, who survive in Logansport. He was married June 29, 1991, in Logansport to Tiffany A. Sherrill Titus, who survives.
He was the Logansport High School Bowling Coach and the President of the Youth Bowling Association. Doug was on the Board of Directors of the Loganland USBC. Doug enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.
A 1980 graduate of Logansport High School, he was a Quality Control Manager for ACM Kokomo.
Surviving with his wife, Tiffany and his parents are 3 Sons, Nicholas Wayne Titus, Brock Douglas Paul Titus, and Lucas Riley Joseph Titus, all at home; a step son, Tyler James Monroe, at home; a Step daughter, Amanda Marie Hollingsworth of Kokomo, IN; 2 Brothers, Rick Titus and his wife, Tina, of Logansport, IN, and Bill Titus and his wife Laura, of Brownsburg, IN; 2 Sisters, Deb Seabury of Fort Wayne, IN, and Ginny Howard and her husband Mike, of Logansport, IN; several aunts and uncles, several nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
Friends will be received 4 to 8 PM, Friday, June 16 at the Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, Indiana.
Services will be held at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Aaron Gross officiating.
Interment will follow in the Walton IOOF cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Childrens Education Fund.

Jack Lowell Stuber
August 13, 1921 - June 11, 2006
His mission in life was to help others....and he fulfilled that mission...
Jack Lowell Stuber, 84, Logansport, died at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Woodbridge Health Campus.
Born August 13, 1921, in Mexico, Indiana, he was the son of Elbridge L. and Beatrice I. Launer Stuber. He was married February 23, 1947, in Logansport, to Marjorie E. Smith, who preceded in death November 21, 1995.
During World War II, Jack served in the 11th Airborne Division of the United States Army. In 1984, he retired from Logansport Community School Corporation, where he had served as superintendent of Building & Grounds for 23 years.
Jack was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church near Twelve Mile. He was also a member of Royal Center Masonic Lodge #585, the Fort Wayne Valley of Scottish Rite, and the Indiana Association of School Business Officials. He volunteered at the Salvation Army, the Red Cross and the Emmaus Mission Center.
Jack had only one mission in life, that was only to help others, and he fulfilled it.
Surviving are one son, James Stuber and his long-time companion, MaraLynn Petty, of Logansport; two brothers, Ray Stuber, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Lee Stuber, Denver; one sister, Carol Wilson, Muncie; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in Fisher Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Teri White officiating.
Interment will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Arthur L. Lorentsen
September 21, 1922 - April 02, 2006
Lafayette Loses One of It's Finest
Arthur L. Lorentsen, 83 years old, of Lafayette, died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at 7:55 p.m. in Rosewalk Village.
He was born September 21, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Albert Michael Lorentsen and the late Victoria Gerda Carlsen Lorentsen. He served in the Navy during WW11. In 1945 he married Aloha Kane in Lafayette, Indiana. She preceded him on March 20, 2006. He worked for the Lafayette Police Department as a police officer for 22 years. He later worked for the department as a dispatcher. He was a member of First Christian Church, VFW, Fraternal Order of Police, Am Vets, and American Legion.
Surviving are a son, Arthur Lorentsen of Monticello, IN; 2 Brothers, Frederick J. Lorentsen and Richard P. Lorentsen, of Florida: 2 Sisters, Margaret D. Carlson and Anna E. Carlson of York, PA; and a Grandson, Zachary Lorentsen of Hamilton, Ohio.
Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. - 10:a.m., Saturday, April 8 at the Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Lafayette, Indiana. Services at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with full police honors, with Celebrant Patricia Fisher officiating.
Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lafayette.

Joyce E. Hipsher
March 23, 1941 - August 28, 2006
Joyce E. Hipsher, 65 of Logansport, IN, died at 12:30 A.M., Monday, August 28, 2006 in her residence.
Born March 23, 1941 in Warren, OH, she was the daughter of Pat and Evelyn Orr Cetina. She was married May 1, 1961, to Gary Hipsher in Las Vegas, NV, who survives.
She had worked at Switches prior to being a homemaker.
She enjoyed the arts and loved to cook and spend time with her small pets.
Surviving with her husband, Gary Hipsher are one son, Craig Hipsher of Logansport, IN; two daughters, Brigette Hipsher of Logansport, IN, and Michele Poppe of Smiths Creek, Michigan;and one granddaughter, Mikaya Poppe of Smiths Creek, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no visitation or funeral service.
Fisher Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Contributions may be made to the Cass County Humane Society and/or Cause For Pause.

Phyllis A. Lane
April 26, 1946 - January 23, 2006
Her generous and loving spirit will surround us all
Phyllis A. Lane, 59, Lafayette, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2006, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, after a brief illness. She had been a patient at St. Elizabeth since last Tuesday and had been in poor health the past few months. Born April 26, 1946, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Edward L. and Genevieve A. Kessen Hitze. On April 20, 1984, in Lafayette, she married William "Bill" H. Lane, who preceded in death December 16, 2000. Phyllis was a dedicated school teacher in Lafayette for over three decades. She first taught in Muncie schools from 1968-1969 and then moved to Lafayette where she taught from 1970 to 2001. She taught 4th and 5th grade in Centennial and Washington schools. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Adina and Dan Uglow, Lafayette; one brother, Ed Hitze, Lafayette; one sister, Fran Clifton, of Vicky, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Linda Hatke, Naples, Florida; one granddaughter, Hannah E. Uglow, Lafayette; and one grandson, William D. Uglow, Lafayette. Her love for nature and her woods, along with her beloved family, friends & animals, and her strong spiritual beliefs, will carry her far as she makes her journey to the next world. Her generous and loving spirit will surround us all.
A private memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Lafayette, is entrusted with arrangements.

William Hardesty
January 24, 1955 - October 02, 2006
Gone too soon...but never forgotten
William Hardesty, 51 of Logansport, IN, died at 5:16 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2006 in St. Elizabeth Hospital.
He was born January 24, 1955 in Logansport, the son of the late Robert A. Hardesty.
He was employed at Indiana Packers, Delphi.
Surviving are one daughter, Stephanie Hardesty of Logansport, IN; one son, Jesse Hardesty, Florida; his companion, Linda Shaffer, Logansport; his former wife, Patricia B. Hardesty, Logansport; five brothers, Cliford Hardesty, David Hardesty, Ray Elmer Hardesty, Jack Hardesty and Carl Hardesty; two sisters, Rebecca Hardesty, Germany, and Linda Lucy.
He was preceded in death by one brother Robert Hardesty, Jr.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2006, at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport. A memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
