Marlene Diane Mattox
February 25, 1951 - December 11, 2014
Marlene Diane Mattox, 63, of Battle Ground, IN passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014. She lived with her daughter, Sarah Celeste Brown and grandson, Samuel Forrest Stull. Her son is Jeremy (Jeremiah) Ben Griffith Brown. She was born in Cory, IN to the late Forrest and Ruby Gilbert Mattox.
Marlene was a mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, W. David Griffith and two stillbirths and then by her second husband, Max O. Brown and their daughter, Rebecca Brown.
Marlene attended Cory High School and graduated from Clay City High School after consolidation. She attended Purdue University and later graduated from Ivy Tech in 1993. She received a Certification of Lay Ministry in 2005 from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer. Marlene took multiple online courses in physics, history, genetics, anthropology, and genealogy during her lifetime.
During her lifetime, she worked many years as a professional men’s tailor for Ermish Cleaners and almost 20 years as a master tailor for Root’s Department Store in Terre Haute. Changing professions, she moved to Machine Tool in Terre Haute as schematic draftsman and then moved to the West Lafayette Engineers Office as Engineering Assistant. On weekends she worked as a clerk at the Lafayette Kmart, doing research for Boston’s elite Blake and Blake Co., and the Smithsonian Institute. Lastly, she worked for almost 20 years as the Senior Engineering Technician for the Tippecanoe Area Plan Commission before an accident crushed her vertebrae and she became disabled. She spent her remaining time quilting and doing computer genealogy. Always keeping busy, she taught genealogy classes and was on the Board of Directors for the Wabash Valley Genealogical Society. Marlene was past Regent of the General de Lafayette Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a past member of the Ivy Tech Alumni Board and Board of Religious Education at St. Lawrence Parish in Lafayette. Marlene was also vowed to the third order of Dominican Laity at St. Thomas Aquinas.
She battled health problems all of her life due to a rare blood disease, Acute Intermittent Porphyria (Blue Blood). She was diagnosed early in life and became an avid genealogist. Finally, after 51 years of serious research, she found her family links to the Royal Houses of England and Scotland. Marlene never knew an idle moment, even in disability; her life was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and her faith.
Now shed of her earthly body, her spirit is now free to dance, sing, and fly away.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel. Graveside Services will be on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Maple Grove cemetery in Clay City, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to those who assisted her in her last days- Tippecanoe Township First Responders and Battle Ground Volunteer Fire Department or to the American Porphyria Foundation Research (Attn: Research 4900 Woodbury Suite 780, Houston, TX 77056). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Martha Jean Minks
December 30, 1924 - December 05, 2014
Martha Jean Minks, 89, of Logansport, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Friday, December 5, 2014.
Born December 30, 1924 in Sharkey, Indiana, she was the only child of the late Jordan and Marguerite (Heaton) Holtsclaw.
Martha Jean graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1942. She met the love of her life in high school, Paul Edward Minks. They fell in love while riding the ferris wheel at the town square. On October 31, 1943, they were married
while Paul was on furlough from the U.S. Army during World War II. They enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage before his death on April 19, 2013.
Martha Jean had first worked at WSAL AM Radio and later retired from Pioneer Elementary School where she had worked as a teacher's aide for many years. She and Paul began their "second careers" planting and pruning their newly-planted apple trees, eventually opening the Minks Orchard.
She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Logansport. Martha was an excellent seamstress and had made many beautiful quilts for her family to cherish..
She is survived by five children whom she loved very much, Dennis Minks (Sue) of Frankfort, KY, Glenn Minks (Kathy) of Logansport, Wanda Glaze (Dan) of Kokomo, IN, Donna Henry (Chuck) of Young America and Eric Minks (Tammy) of Logansport. She loved her grandchildren, Aaron Minks, Kristen (Jwain) White, Andrew (Kelly) Minks, Kim Minks Switzer, Greg (Billie) Byers, , Tia Lewellen, Matthew (Jenny) Lewellen, Nathaniel (Penny) Lewellen, Whitney Smith, Charles Henry, Michelle (Don) Surine, Joel Henry Samantha Minks and Guy Minks; twenty-three great-grandchildren.
The Minks family would like to thank Guardian Angel Hospice and the friends and family who worked together as a team to care for Martha in her home.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Martha Jean Minks will be held at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Chaplain Larry Phillips officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Hope cemetery, Logansport, Indiana.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 10 in the funeral chapel.
Kenneth L. Packard
June 27, 1936 - December 12, 2014
Kenneth L. Packard, 78, of Logansport, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 12, 2014 in his home.
Born June 27, 1936 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Samuel Kenneth and Margaret Elizabeth Grassmyer Packard. On May 16, 1954, he was married
to Shirley Lee Williamson Packard, who survives.
Ken was a graduate of Logansport High School. In 1998, he retired from the Cass County Highway Department where he had worked for 37 years as a truck driver, parts manager and mechanic.
Surviving with his wife of 60 years are one daughter, Cynthia (Tony) Lynn Calloway of Royal Center; one son, Terry Packard of Logansport; one sister, Ruth Arlene (Don) Grafton of Royal Center, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild.
He was preceded in death by half-brother Robert Glen "Bob" Packard; sister Virginia Correll and granddaughter Jessica Marie Packard.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Kenneth Packard will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Celebrant Patricia Fisher officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bethlehem cemetery, near Twelve Mile.

Donnabelle M. Garver
June 17, 1935 - December 12, 2014
Donnabelle M. "Donna" Garver, 79, of Logansport, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 in Miller's Merry Manor.
Born June 17, 1935 in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Blanche Wynn Butler. On June 18, 1953, in Kewanna, she was married
to Ralph Garver.
Donna was a graduate of Richland Center High School. She retired from GTE/Verizon where she had worked as a telephone operator.
Donna loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She was an avid birdwatcher. Her faith led her to help with Bible lessons as part of a prison ministry.
Surviving with her husband of 61 years are one son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Rosalie Jane Garver of Monticello; and one sister, Marjorie Bingle.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Steininger; one brother Bill Butler and two grandchildren, Kimberly Garver and Jeffrey Garver.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 16 at the Fisher Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Donna Garver will follow at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral chapel with Donna's husband, Ralph, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mount Hope cemetery.

Phyllis E. Dibble
April 02, 1933 - December 16, 2014
Phyllis E. Dibble, 81 of Logansport, passed away at 12:25 a.m.Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in Miller's Merry Manor.
Born April 2, 1933 in Dubuque, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Glen Sr.and Ila Marie Chase Gaddis. While working as a car hop at Thomas' Drive-In on Logansport's west side, she met the love of her life, Wallace E. "Wally" Dibble. On April 4, 1952 the couple were married
by Rev. Rex Grant in the Grace Fellowship Church.
Phyllis had a way with numbers. She was a certified contometer. She worked at Switches and also General Tire, where she started the "Ace Credit Union." She owned and operated Dibble Hurd Tax Service with her sister. In later years, she enjoyed working in Kosciuscko County as a census worker in the Amish community there.
Phyllis was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. She and her husband served on the Little Turtle Waterway board when it was first founded in the mid 80's. An avid button collector, Phyllis was a member of the National Button Society headquartered in Indianapolis Phyllis and Wally loved ballroom dancing.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years are one daughter, Rebecca Adair of Chicago, IL.; one son, Steven Wallace Dibble and his wife Jeannie of Phoenix, AZ; one sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Paul Hurd; four grandchildren, Stacy Perry, Catheryn and her husband John Cummins, Chanda Perry and Candice Perry; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The Dibble family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff of Miller's Merry Manor for the love and amazing care shown to Phyllis.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Dibble; four brothers, Glen Jr., Clarence "Buck", Ronald and Lester Leroy Gaddis; and one sister, Helen Klueter.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held in the Mount Hope cemetery on April 2, 2015, in memory of Phyllis on her birthday.
Dolores (Dee) Callaway
July 17, 1926 - December 11, 2014
Dolores "Dee" G. Callaway, 88, of Royal Center, passed away at 4 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 in Hickory Creek Healthcare Center, Winamac.
Born July 17, 1926 in Logansport, Dee was the daughter of the late Floyd and Frances Baker Lowery. On July 27, 1947, in Logansport, she was married
to Ray C. Morgan. He preceded in death July 24, 1966. She was married
July 26, 1974, to to William "Bill" Callaway who survives.
Dee was a graduate of Logansport High School. She was a retired secretary having worked at Firestone Tire and Bickels.
She was a member of Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church. Dee enjoyed traveling to Florida, especially Disney World. She also loved camping.
Surviving are her husband are three sons, Timothy (Carole) Morgan of Port Charlotte, FL, Steve (Karen) Morgan and Mike (Mary Lou) Morgan, all of Logansport; two stepsons, Jim (Jean) Callaway and Richard (Kelly) Callaway, all of Logansport; two stepdaughters, Debbie (Dave) Foster of Peachtree, GA and Anita (Bobby) Lee of Galveston; four grandchildren, Heather (Jerry) Meredith, Brad (Lindsay) Morgan, Michelle (Jamie) Remley and Jason Morgan; eight step-grandchildren, Ed Callaway, Doug Callaway, Mike Callaway, Cristy Callaway, Kevin Foster, Kari Foster, Mathew Reynolds and Ryan Reynolds; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother Ted Lowery and grandson Seth Callaway.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Dee Callaway will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dr. Horace Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in the Wise cemetery.
Friends may call from noon Saturday until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church.
Terry "T.L." Meadows
January 07, 1952 - July 18, 2015
Terry Lane "T.L." Meadows, 63, of Lafayette passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis from injuries received in a motorcycle accident in Tippecanoe County.
Terry was born on January 7, 1952 in Franklin, IN to the late Earl and Rozella (Cordray) Meadows.
He was a 1971 graduate of Southwestern High School.
T.L. owned and operated T.L.'s Painting for over 30 plus years.
He was a member of Tippecanoe F AM Lodge #492 and the Past President of the Tippecanoe Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
T.L. was a big fan of the Indy 500 and collected Indy 500 memorabilia. He loved children, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's baseball games. He also enjoyed swimming, riding his motorcycle, telling jokes, and being with his friends.
Terry is survived by his children; Cyndy Meadows Howard and Lane Meadows both of Lafayette, two brothers; Phil (Kim) Meadows of Minnesota and Brad (Sonya) Meadows of Romney, two sisters; Connie (Stan) Bechner of Texas and Dawn (Mike) Hummer of Lafayette. Terry is also survived by five grandchildren; Cassidy and Keely Meadows, Chloe Martin, and Ansley and Jace Howard, and a friend since his childhood, Kenny Cherry.
He is preceded in death by twin siblings; Vick and Vicki.
A celebration of T.L.'s life will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Tippecanoe Shrine Club on Old State Road 25 in Lafayette with Tippecanoe Shrine's Vice President Jonathan Fisher officiating. At 6 p.m. a Masonic Service will be held, all are invited.
Friends will be received from 5 - 8 p.m. on that same day.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, envelopes will be available at the Shrine Club.
Robert Frederick (Bob) Shepard
October 21, 1926 - July 28, 2015
Robert Frederick "Bob" Shepard, 88, Royal Center, passed away at 10:07 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015, in Woodbridge Health Campus.
Born October 21, 1926, in Bluffton, Indiana, he was the son of the late Leon and Eva Shepard.
On Dec. 22, 1983, he was married
to Lois (Leach) Shepard, who survives.
Bob was a graduate of Bluffton High School and later attended trade school. Early in Bob's life he worked for several newspapers as a typesetter. He also worked as an electrician for over 25 years.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in WWII after the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Bob enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Dennis (Barbara Ann) Hayden, of Lucerne, Donald Shepard, of Logansport, Joseph (Wilma) Shepard, of Logansport; two daughters, Carol (Jay) Pursch, of Logansport, Beverly (Robert) Sargent, of Indianapolis; one sister Doris Smith, of Keystone; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother William Shepard.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Bob Shepard will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Rev. Debi Sanders officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the time of the service.
Burial, with full military rites, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
