Jewell "Curt" Weaver
Jewell Curtis “Curt” Weaver, age 70, of Linton, went home to be with the Lord on Thurs., April 12, 2012, at his residence in Linton. He was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Linton, the son of Roy C. & Leona (Phelps) Weaver
He worked for the Milwaukee & Soo Line Railroad for twenty years. He managed the Prime Video Store in Jasonville for several years, served in the Army National Guard, & was a member of the Nine Mile United Methodist Church of Linton.
Survivors include his wife, Connie S. (Overton) Weaver, to whom he was married
Aug. 18, 1978, two sons, Johnny (Wendy) Weaver of Linton & Shayne Weaver of Jasonville, four daughters, Renee (Tim) Damron of Linton, Courtney (Bud Creasey) Fulford of Clinton, & Kerri (Kenny) Edmonson & Marla (Don Heck) Clark, both of Linton, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, & a great-granddaughter due in July.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three daughters, Peggy Sue, Susan, & Carol Weaver, a brother, Roy Lee Weaver, two sisters, Nadine Waskom & Wanda Baker, & a granddaughter, Michelle Wright.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Mon., April 16, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Rev. John Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Sun. & at 11:00 A.M. Mon.
The family has suggested that memorials can be made to the funeral home.
Siri "Charlie" Stocker
Siri “Charlie” Stocker, 73, of Linton, passed away 2:25 P. M. Friday, April 13, 2012, at Glenburn Home in Linton.
He was born March 3, 1939, in Norfolk, SD, to Lee & Martha (Kurle) Stocker.
Charlie retired from Olive Garden in Indianapolis in 1995 and moved to Linton. Veteran of the U. S. Marines.
He is survived by one daughter, Charolett (Robert) Bresach, Linton; 4 grandchildren, Jason ( Laura) Stocker, Las Vegas, NV; Jeff (Ashley) Allen, Lewis, IN; Michelle Allen, Linton; Chareese Gilbert, California; 9 great grandchildren, Dylan & Kaleb Stocker; Samantha Gilbert; Evan, Emma & Emberli Allen; Mckenzie Allen; Gavin Stocker; Collin Jozwiak; special friend, Larry Allen, Linton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kristin Stocker; great grandson, Cory Piehl.,
Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, in Linton, 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, with Warren Shake officiating.
Friends may call at Welch & Cornett 4:00 to 8:00 P. M. Tuesday and 9:00 A. M. Wednesday until time of service.
Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, in Linton.
Richard Littlejohn
Richard Lee Littlejohn, age 62, of Solsberry, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012, at his residence in Solsberry. He was born April 26, 1949, in Brown County, the son of Frank E. & Alma (Chandler) Littlejohn.
He worked as a brick mason for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Frank E. (Teresa) Littlejohn of Linton & Edward Lawson of Bloomington, two daughters, Brandy (John) Bryant of Bloomington & Jennifer Lawson of Bloomfield, a sister, Shirley Carnes of Bloomington, fourteen grandchildren, a companion, Vicki (McKee) Littlejohn, & several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, & four brothers.
A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thurs., April 19, at Rest Haven cemetery in Edinburg.
Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Wed., April 18, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton.
The family requests memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home for final expenses.
Paul Criqui
Paul George Criqui, 82, of Linton, passed away at 12:20 A. M. Monday, April 16, 2012 at Linton Nursing & Rehab Center.
He was born July 3, 1929 in Buffalo, NY, to Edward Simon & Anna Mary (Rebhan) Criqui.
Paul retired from Kelsey Hayes in Michigan, he worked at Kirby Risk, Bedford, and security at Greene Co. Hospital after moving to Indiana. He was a member of Saron United Church of Christ, he had served in the U. S. Coast Guard. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School, Canasius College, both in Buffalo.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elaine (Rowley) Criqui; 3 children, Eric (Dian) Roblin, Ft. Worth, Texas; Jill Thompson, Bloomfield; Pamela (Steve) Pestretto, Granby, Conn.; 7 grandchildren, Catherine, Kurt, Jessica, Kyle, Kameron, Michaela and Juliana; 3 great grand, Madison, Lillian and Kyle, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister; 1 son, Geoffrey Roblin; one son-in-law, Michael Thompson.
Memorial service, Saron United Church of Christ, 440 NE 1st St. Linton, 6:00 P. M. Friday, April 20, 2012, with Mike Roth officiating.
Friends may call at Saron Church after 5:00 P. M. Friday.
Memorials may be given to Saron United Church of Christ instead of Flowers.
Max Reese
Max Reese, 87, of Worthington passed away at 11:50 A. M., Monday, April 16, 2012 at his residence.
Max was born March 13, 1925, in Brazil, IN, to Dorothy Reese Cheesman.
He retired from Greenbrier Apartment Complex in Terre Haute, in maintenance. Max was a U. S. Navy Veteran and member of American Legion.
Max is survived by his wife, Pauline (White) Reese, Worthington; 2 children, Cheryl Blevens, Brazil; Duane (Awana) Reese, Des Moines, IA; 5 step-children, Gloria Blalock, Ruth Blankenship, Millie Apple, Kenneth Pruett, and Joy Owens; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren and 24 step-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his Mother, and 1 half-sister.
Memorial service, Folsom Memorial United Church, 11:00 A. M. Saturday, April 21, 2012, with Rev. Terry Marker officiating.
Friends may call at the church after 10:00 A. M. Saturday.
Memorials may be given to SonShine Shop Food Pantry in Worthington through the Funeral Home.
Mary E. Walton
Mary E. (Carpenter) Walton, age 89, of Linton, passed away on Thurs., April 19, 2012, at Glenburn Home in Linton. She was born Oct. 17, 1922, in Linton, the daughter of Osman & Lola (Rarder) Carpenter. She lived in Westville for several years, working in Michigan City as a baker. She also worked at Freeman-Greene County Hospital as a CNA.
Survivors include two sisters, Violet (Don) Tincher of Middletown & Hildred Sullivan of Linton, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Carpenter & Pat Carpenter, both of Linton, nephew, Mike (Connie) Tincher of Anderson, nieces, Paula (Mike) Mullins of Middletown, Sharon (John) Dyer of Worthington, Peggy (Chris) Sharp of Linton, Susan Kendall of Linton, Janelle (Joe) Myers of Switz City, Christiana McPherson of LaPorte, Lola (Todd) Lombardo of Pennsylvania, & Kay Meirs, nephews, Rick (Rhonda) Sullivan of Linton, Brian Carpenter of Linton, & Danny Walton, great-nieces, Chandra (Corey) Breneman of Linton & Jamie & Kim of Middletown, great-great-nieces & great-great-nephews, Bracey Breneman, Gage Sullivan, & Audrey Sullivan, her little play-time buddies, Devin Mullins, Maddison Fites, & Alexis Hollenback.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul C. Walton, to whom she was married

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 23, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Tony Gouckenour & Michael Tincher officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview cemetery in Linton. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. on Mon. at the funeral home.
Gary Dean "Bird" Bays
Gary Dean “Bird” Bays, 57, of Worthington, passed away at 2:40 A.M. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at I. U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
He was born Oct. 19, 1954, in Greenfield to Loren & Sarah (Hamilton) Bays.
Gary was a truck driver for many years.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Kari (Shawn) Taylor of Worthington & Heather (Nathan) Weathers of Bruceville, a sister, Becky (Bill) Daymude of Linton, two brothers, Bill (Susan) Bays of Worthington & Ronnie (Yolonda) Bays of Indianapolis, three grandchildren, Abigale Weathers, Mason & Ethan Taylor, and his former spouse, Carol Glasford of Worthington.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at 7:00 P.M.
Vertis P. Weathers
Vertis P. Weathers, age 84, of Linton, passed away at 11:40 A.M. Wed., April 25, 2012, at Glenburn Home in Linton. He was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Daviess County, the son of Stephen & Maude (Pettit) Weathers.
He retired from General Electric in Linton in 1989. At age sixteen, he worked in a factory in Washington to make parachutes for WW II. He was a member of the Elnora Outdoor Club & was the last one living of the founding members.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma (Graves) Weathers, to whom he was married
July 3, 1947, two daughters, Reva (Wayne) Sullivan of Bloomington & Linda (Sam) Hansens of Jasonville, three sons, Stephen (Liz) Weathers of Dugger, Paul Weathers of Indianapolis, & David Weathers of Linton, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Albert Weathers, & two sisters, Margaret Hollingsworth & Cynthia Mae Litherland.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 A.M. Sat., April 28, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton. Burial will follow at Slinkard cemetery in Newberry.
Visitation will be from 5-9 P.M. Fri. & at 9:30 A.M. Sat.
Rosalee H. "Rosie" Ray
Rosalee H. “Rosie” Ray, 91, of Worthington passed away 3:30 A. M. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Greene Co. General Hospital in Linton.
She was born Oct. 6, 1920, in New Marion, Ripley Co. to Jay & Grace (Baker) Hayden.
Rosie retired from RCA in Bloomington in 1983 with over 30 years service. She was a member of Tyson United Methodist Church, in Versailles.
She is survived by 1 son, Tony (Marilyn) Gouckenour, Worthington; 6 grandchildren, David (Cindy) Sparks, Jr., Evansville; Ronald M. Sparks, Lyons; Season Weddle, Bloomfield; Kathy Rogerson, Bloomington; Rhonda (Rick) Sullivan, Linton; Rennae (Ronnie) Lehman, Linton; several great & great great grandchildren.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Lisa Sparks; grandson Jason Gouckenour; 3 brothers.
Graveside service, 1:00 P. M. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Worthington cemetery, with Tony Gouckenour, her son officiating.
Friends may call at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, in Worthington, 11:00 A. M., Saturday until time of service.
Hansel E. "Gene" Neibel
Hansel Eugene “Gene” Neibel, 74, of Gosport, passed away at St. Francis Hospital, in Mooresville.
He was born Jan. 10, 1938 in Owen Co. to George & Hazel Neibel.
He retired from Navistar in Indianapolis after 38 years service. Masonic Lodge and Shriners in Indianapolis
He is survived by his wife, Alice J. (Hart) Neibel, Gosport; 3 children, Tony (Pauline) Neibel, Martinsville; Deanna (Carl) Miner, Green Castle; Danny Neibel, North Carolina; step-children, Teresa (John) Haton, Worthington; Mark (Patty) Beatty, Wadesville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Bob Neibel.
Private family services will be held.
Michael Ray Brown
Michael Ray Brown, age 62, of Bedford, formerly of Linton, passed away on Sat. evening, April 28, 2012, at his residence in Bedford. He was born Dec. 2, 1949, in Gary, the son of Chester N. & Bonnie R. (Page) Brown.
He was a draftsman at NSWC Crane. He was an Army & an Air Force veteran, enjoyed playing the guitar & pool, & listening to blues music.
Survivors include his father, Chester N. Brown of Sandborn, his wife, Sandy K. (Hodges) Brown of Bedford, to whom he was married
June 21, 2005, sons, Tony (Angela) Brown of Bloomington, Jason (Chelsie) Brown of Miamisburg, OH, Matthew (Megan) Brown of Sonoita, AZ, daughter, Stephanie (Tyler) Wall of Lexington, KY, sons, Jeff (Tara) Terrell of Paoli, & Jason (Missie) Terrell of Paoli, daughter, Billie Jo (Scott) Crusie of Linton, a brother, Stephen Brown of Sandborn, a sister, Kathy Gulledge of Florida, sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, & former spouses, Barbara Guzman of Valparaiso & Sonnie Brown of Linton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie (Page) Brown, & two brothers, Jerry N. Brown & Charles D. Brown.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thurs., May 3, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Pastor Steve Von Bokern officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Thurs. at Fairview cemetery in Orleans, with military rites by the American Legion Warren Brock Post #69 of Orleans.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4-8 P.M. Wed. & after 10 A.M. Thurs. until the time of the service.
