Paul E. Bailey

Paul E. Bailey, 68 of Brazil passed away March 15, 2004 at 6:50 am at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
He was born March 2, 1936 in Sullivan County to Ray and Edna Hunt Bailey. His father passed away when he was an infant, and he was raised by his step-father Raymond Kasinger.
On June 6, 1976 he married
Deborah L. Moss in Clay County. He was self-employed in the trucking industry for many years, and also operated heavy equipment at the Bicknell Minerals mine. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He took his family on many trips across the country, into Canada and Mexico.
He is survived by his wife Debby of Brazil; one son and daughter in law Jim and Laurie Bailey of Brazil; one daughter and son in law, Talitha and Keven Warrick of Seelyville; six grandchildren, Breanna, Braxton, and Brody Bailey, and Kristian, Tyrzah, and Mareena Warrick; one brother in law, Dewayne Moss of Farmersburg; one sister in law and brother in law, Diana and Terry Walden of Clay City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father; his good friend and father in law, James V. Moss; and his sister in law, Julie Ann Moss.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:00pm at Lawson-Slack Funeral Home with Mike Call officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill cemetery in Riley. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8pm and again Thursday prior to services.
Walter Lee Bragg
October 04, 1947 - April 03, 2004
Walter Lee "Walt" Bragg Sr., 56 of Brazil and formerly of Savannah, GA died April 3, 2004 at his residence from cancer.
He was born October 4, 1947 in Savannah, GA the son of H.F. "Jay" and Olive "Pat" Drawdy Bragg.
He was employed with Great Dane Trailers since the age of 18, first in Savannah then moving to Brazil in 1975 as one of the original employees eventually becoming plant superintendent. He was also a veteran of the US Navy. During his tours of duty he was stationed on the USS Yorktown and participated in the three capsule recovery mission on the west coast of rthe Apollo Moon mission. He was a 15 year member of the American Legion Post #2 in Brazil. His favorite hobbies included spending quality time with family and friends and telling stories of times past. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was an avid golfer and fisherman.
He was proceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Ellison Bragg; two sons, Wally Bragg and wife Kim of Brazil; and Sean Bragg of Savannah, GA; two brothers, Larry Bragg and wife Dottie of Myrtle Beach, SC and Tim Bragg of Savannah, GA; two sisters, Holly Ford and husband Grady of Savannah, GA and Terri Crowley and husband Charley of Pooler, GA; three grandchildren, Paige Bragg of Brazil; and Brandon Bragg and Ashlee Bragg of Savannah, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
At his request cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7:00 at French Funeral Home with Rev. Dick McShanog officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 7 PM with American Legion and VFW military walk through at 6:00 PM.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley or the local branch of the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Marcella Duree Todd
July 24, 1919 - October 11, 2004
Marcella Duree Todd, 85, died October 11, 2004 in St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
Born July 24, 1919, in Montezuma, Indiana, she was the daughter of Jessie Amerman Duree and Charles Duree. She is preceded in death by both parents, husband, William E. Todd, brother, William Duree, and sister, Winona Van Hook.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn J. Anthony of Clinton, Missouri, and Kimberly D. Bruning of Clarksville, Tennessee. She had 4 granddaughters, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 nieces Jeanne McMichael of Brazil, Linda Gray of Lawrenville, Illinois, and nephew Dennis Duree also of Lawrenville, Illinois.
At Marcella's request, cremation will follow. Private interment will be at Oakland cemetery in Montezuma, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Ricky L. Brush
February 01, 1964 - May 06, 2004
Ricky L. Brush, 40 of Brazil died May 6, 2004 at his residence unexpectedly. He was born February 1, 1964 in Clay County, the son of Donald “Reggie” Brush and Jacquelyn Harden Brush. He graduated from Brazil High School Class of 1983. He began working as a machinist for Morris Manufacturing ten years ago, and was currently employed there.
He enjoyed mushroom hunting, target shooting, and watching NFL Football, especially the Colts. He had a life long hobby of building gas powered remote control airplanes, and has a large collection of these special planes. He was a loyal and true friend to many.
He is survived by his mother and step father, Jacque and Jerry Evans of Brazil; his father and stepmother, Reggie and Gayle Brush of Harmony; one grandmother, Alberta Katie Shirery of Columbus, OH; one brother Don Brush of Terre Haute; two sisters Sandy Burdette and husband Kevin of Seelyville, and Darlene Chafey of Brazil; three nephews, Brian McCullough, Chad McCullough, and Tony Brush, and one niece Jacque Chafey; and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Donald Brush and great-grandmother, Elsie Carmichael.
Funeral Services will be Monday at 1:00 pm at French Funeral Home with Uncle Jim Buck officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bee Ridge cemetery.
William Joe Angleton
April 25, 1924 - May 27, 2004
William “Bill” J. Angleton, 80 of Danville, IN. formerly of Brazil died May 27, 2004 at Hendricks Community Hospital.
He was born April 25, 1924 in Brazil the son of Otis and Agnes Mayfield Angleton. He graduated from Brazil High School. December 13, 1943 he married
Emma Schlatter Angleton. She preceded him in death August 17, 1997. As a young man, he worked at Arketex and then Anaconda. He retired from Pillsbury in 1986. He was the maintenance supervisor there. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and a member of the Brazil Kingdom Hall for over 57 years.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Ulrich and Lynnette Angleton of Mooresville; one daughter and son in law, Deborah and Robert Officer of Danville, IN.; one granddaughter Kimberly Kirby and one grandson Kevin Angleton; one daughter in law, Linda Angleton; one sister in law, Pat VenDeventer; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emma, one grandson Joseph Officer; and a stepbrother Buster Brown.
Services will be held Saturday at 4:00pm at Miller Memorial Chapel with Rick Herron speaking. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to services.
Darwin M. Booker
March 10, 1916 - October 17, 2004
Darwin M. Booker 88 of Brazil, died October 17, 2004 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital at 6:35pm. He was the son of Charles and Annice Boyer Booker. He was a police officer for the City of Vincennes for 20 years, retiring in 1967.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Marjorie, a son – in – law Michael Rogers Sr.; his parents; and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons Danny Booker and wife Janet of Culver City Ca.; Jim Booker and wife Debbie of Brazil. Two daughters Belinda Rogers of Brazil; and Theresa Young and husband Don of Brazil. One sister Neoma Casey of Albuquerque N.M.. Eight grandchildren and 13 great – grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, October 22, 2004 at French Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service on Friday. Burial will follow at Clearview cemetery.
Shila Addison Haas Carter

Shila Addison Haas Carter, 4 months and 6 days old died October 1, 2004 at 11:06pm at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born May 25, 2004 at the Indiana University Hospital. She was born premature, and had Cystic Bronchial Pulmonary Disease.
She is survived by her parents, Dustin Ray Carter and Christina Marie Haas; two brothers, Keenan Yates and Dustin Carter all of Terre Haute; grandparents, Monica and Jay Haas of Terre Haute, Cindy Carter, of Terre Haute, Richard and Sharon Carter of Kankakee, IL; great-grandmothers, Margaret Haas and Ruth Haas of Brazil and Helen Jo Thomas of Champaign, IL; five uncles, Christopher White, Chad White, Devin Carter, Richard Carter, Jr. and Ryan Carter; two aunts, Stormy Carter and Shannon Carter; and many cousins and other extended family.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2:00pm at French Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2.
The family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Riley Hospital Children’s Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mr. Earl W. Hankins, Sr.
Mr. Earl W. Hankins, Sr., 73, of Seymour passed away at 2:54 AM, Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, Jackson County, IN.
Earl was born in Seymour, IN on July 24, 1935, the son of the late Elijah and Hattie Mae (Eglen) Hankins.
Earl is survived by two daughters, Hattie J. (George) Anthony Cannie M. Hankins and nine sons James S. Hankins, Aaron W. (Mary) Hankins, Elijah J. Hankins, Benjamin I. (Wanda) Hankins, Earl W. Hankins Jr., Mark P. (Jessica) Hankins, Isom W. (Doris) Hankins, Joel M. (Rochelle) Hankins, William C. Hankins and former wife; Sharon Hankins.
He is also survived by twenty two grandchildren and one sister Joye Spurgeon.
He is preceded in death by one son; John A. Hankins and one daughter; Marriam S. Hankins, two brothers; John D. Haley Sr. and V. Sanford Hankins.
Graveside services will be conducted by Bro. Kelly Reed at 2:30pm Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Fairview cemetery, Brownstown.
A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Friday November 7, 2008 at Seymour Harvest Church with a meal following.

Irene Amerman

Irene Miller Amerman, 84, of Center Point passed away September 15, 2004 in the Holly Hills Health Care facility.
She was born July 6, 1920 in Owen County the daughter of James and Gladys Crist Miller.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Clay City First United Methodist Church, Jolly Neighbors Home-Ec Club, Clay City American Legion Auxiliary, Clay City VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Clay City Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Amerman was preceded in death by her husband Verne, 2 grandsons, Baby Boy Amerman and Clint Amerman and a brother Kenneth Miller. Survivors include a son, Bob Amerman and wife Kathie of Clay City; a daughter, Jan Howell and husband Roger of Center Point; 4 brothers, Chester Miller and wife Sue of Indianapolis, Glenn Miller and wife Ruth of Clay City, Rex Miller and wife Lois of Jasonville and Paul Miller and wife Marilyn of San Clemente, California; 4 sisters, Maxine Riggs and husband Rex of Coal City, Phyllis Huber and husband Ernie of Terre Haute, Shirley Graham and husband Don of Cloverdale and Judy Johnson and husband Bob of Terre Haute; 3 Grandchildren, Jacquie Amerman of Clay City, Claire Boggs and husband James of Terre Haute and Kimberly Howell of Bloomington; 2 Great Grandchildren, Zoey and Gavin Boggs of Terre Haute.
Services will be 10 AM, Saturday, September 18 2004 in the Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City with Pastor John Like officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Friday, September 17, 2004 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
Irma Joan Collins

Irma J. Collins, 73 of Brazil, passed away at 7:21 PM, November 5, 2004 in Terre Haute Union Hospital. She was born September 20, 1931 in Brazil to David A. and Lorene Garrison Fisher. She was the assistant manager of the Clay County Humane Society for many years. Her parents, her husband, William P. Collins and her brothers, William and Max Fisher preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Modesitt and her husband Paul of Brazil; 2 grandchildren, Kelsey and Garrett Modesitt of Brazil; a sister, Imogene Sprouse of Brazil; 2 brothers, Dave Fisher and his wife Louise of Brazil and Donald Fisher and his wife Joyce of Florida.; 2 sisters-in-law Mary and Lillie Fisher of Brazil and several nieces and nephews and friends.
Services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 9, 2004 in the French Funeral Home with Brother Lyle Monnett officiating. Visitation is from 4-8 pm, Monday, November 8, 2004 in the funeral home. Burial is in Restlawn cemetery.

Norma M. "Maxine" Buell
October 24, 2004 - November 05, 2004
Norma “Maxine” Buell, 76 of Bowling Green passed away Friday, November 5, 2004 in the St. Vincent Clay Hospital. She was a 1946 Graduate of Brazil High School and had been employed as a clerk at Arketex in Brazil. She was born October 24, 1928 in Missouri to Guy and Nell Farris Hoke. Her parents and a sister Jean Love preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband Leonard Buell; a son Richard “Keith” Buell of Bowling Green; a daughter Rhonda Buell of Jasonville; 2 grandchildren, Chad Buell of Bowling Green and Tracy Ann Barbee of Rosedale and 2 great grandchildren, Christy Barbee and Chad Buell Jr.
Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the Bowling Green Methodist Church with visitation from 4-8 pm Tuesday, November 9, 2004 in the Schoppenhorst Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery in Bowling Green.
Timothy E. Campbell
September 05, 1955 - November 13, 2004
Timothy “Tim” E. Campbell, 49 if Center Point passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 5, 1955 in Rushville, IN. the son of Julius Campbell and Frances Mahan Campbell. He grew up in the Terre Haute and Cory area and attended Clay City High School. He served as sergeant jumpmaster in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1974-1977. In 1987 he moved to Los Lunas, New Mexico and began his career as a successful roofing contractor.
He married
Doreen Tso-Olivas Campbell on September 9, 1989, she survives. They moved back to Clay County in December of 2003 to be with extended family here.
He enjoyed being with family and friends, bass fishing, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Doreen Campbell; two sons, Timothy Jason Campbell of Terre Haute, and Zachary Ursulo Campbell of Center Point; two daughters Angela Maehler and husband Mike of Terre Haute, and Dayna Louise Campbell of Center Point; two granddaughters, Lani Marie Campbell and Amaris Renee Maehler; a godson Jacob Timothy Tso-Olivas; four brothers, Stephen Campbell, John Campbell and wife Cindy, Donald Campbell, and JV Campbell; three sisters, Pam Pershing, Mary Morse and husband Bill, and Julie Strijdhorst and husband Erik; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert, in infancy; and one sister Linda Miller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00am at Annunciation Church in Brazil with Father Rob Hausladon officiating. Burial will be later at Nuestra Senora de Dolores cemetery in Chimayo, New Mexico. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8pm at French Funeral Home and again Wednesday prior to leaving for the church at 10:45am.
