MUNCIE -- Elizabeth E. (Hook) Barnes, 73, Muncie, died Aug. 19, 2003, at Williamsburg Village in Muncie after an extended illness.
She was born July 18, 1930, in Elwood, Ind., and lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Friends Church in Anderson, Solar Order of Eastern Star 604, Bethesda White Shrine of Jerusalem 11, Jobs Daughters, Delco Remy Travel Club and Good Sams Club.
She is survived by one son, Harry and wife Debra Barnes of Yorktown; two daughters, Dianna and husband Virgil Lee Woolman of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Teresa Schaefer of Anderson; two sisters, Betty Abel of Missouri and Florence and husband Harlan Dailey of Missouri; eight grandchildren, Andrew Barnes, Wendy Engle, John Woolman, Penny Armstrong, Dana Woolman, Elizabeth Baker, Holly Gerber and Tina Schaefer; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Woolman, Lilliath Dye and Benjamin Engle; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Howard Barnes, on July 21, 2000; parents, Lawrence and Elizabeth (Wood) Hook; three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with Pastor Angie Boss officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the South Chapel. There will be an Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine service at 6:30 p.m. today.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Diabetes. Association.
Merland O. Baugh
June 2, 1931 -- Aug. 18, 2003
DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. -- Former Anderson resident Merland Baugh, 72, DeFuniak Springs, died Aug. 18, 2003, at the family residence.
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the
Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Madonna Freeman Baugh; son, Kenny (wife, Judy) Baugh; daughter, Karen (husband, Tim) Walton; a stepdaughter, Stephanie (husband, Randy) Broxson; two stepsons, Bob Button and Curt Button; a sister, Iona Ellis of Anderson; three grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Jerry Evans Chapel with Chaplain Jim Vale officiating.
William V. Bradley
Jan. 13, 1919 -- Aug. 19, 2003
ELWOOD -- William V. Bradley, 84, Elwood, died Aug. 19, 2003, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was a shipping clerk at Delco Remy in Anderson for 20 years, retiring in 1973. He was also a former employee of Continental Can Co. in Elwood.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wilma Jean (Jack) Bradley; two sons, Richard Allen (wife, Nancy) Bradley and Dennis Lee (wife, Tanya) Bradley; two sisters, Naomi McPhearson and Ruth Ellis; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Elwood City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Alice S.J. Burkhardt

CHESTERFIELD -- Alice S.J. (Hott) Burkhardt, 93, Chesterfield, died Aug. 20, 2003, at Miller's Merry Manor.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Daniel Hott of Frankton, Kathleen Hueston of Anderson and Michele Norris of Middletown.
Her husband of almost 62 years, Walter C. Burkhardt, died July 14, 1997.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W. Jefferson St., Tipton, with the Rev. Harold Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Juanita C. Butler
Dec. 1, 1933 -- Aug. 19, 2003
Juanita C. Butler, born 1933 in Noblesville, left for her heavenly home on Aug. 19, 2003.
She was a devoted military wife of the late John R. Butler. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Mae Cecil, and father, Emil P. Cecil, of Noblesville, also a sister, Norma DeVol of Anderson.
She is survived by two brothers, Bill Cecil of Lapel and Max Cecil of Muncie.
She was a Baptist with a strong faith in Christ. Juanita retired from Zayres after 20 years of employment. She was a leader who inspired her employees in excellence. Her motto was "If something is worth doing it is worth doing well." She will be missed by her family, friends and her Yorkie.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Kissimmee. Entombment will follow in Chapel of Light Mausoleum in Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Earl E. Fisher

Earl Eugene "Gene" Fisher, 77, Anderson, died Aug. 19, 2003, at ManorCare Health Services.
Born Jan. 8, 1926, in Anderson, he was a lifelong resident.
He retired from Guide Lamp in 1992 after 28 years.
He was a 1944 graduate of Anderson High School, and attended Indiana University and Anderson University.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 during World War II being discharged from Camp Atterbury.
He was a member of East Lynn Christian Church where he served as a deacon and chairman of the trustees. He was a member of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266. He served as Anderson Township trustee and surveyor. He was very active in the Republican Party.
Survivors include his three children, the Rev. Stephen K. (wife, Patricia) Fisher of Muskegon, Mich., Doug (wife, Denise) Fisher of Avon, and Deborah L. Gaunt of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Edith Rosemary (Fisher) Miller of Traverse City, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Fisher, Benjamin Fisher, Megan Fisher, Justin Gaunt, Sarah Gaunt, Lauren Gaunt and Katelyn Gaunt; niece, Carol Ann Turner of Traverse City, Mich.; and a great-nephew, Logan Turner.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Pauline Mae (Shafer) Fisher, Jan. 26, 1993; and his parents, Walter "Earl" and Sarah Alberta (Liff) Fisher.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, with the Rev. Susan Cameron officiating. Entombment will be in East Maplewood Mausoleum. military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the South Chapel. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to East Lynn Christian Church.
James R. Hope
INGALLS -- James Rex Hope, 78, Ingalls, died Aug. 20, 2003.
He was a welder for Amtrak at Beech Grove for several years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Martin; two sons, Dennis Hope and Daryl Hope; two sisters, Betty Whetsel and Mary Vaughn; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean Pruitt Hope.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Little and Sons Beech Grove Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
