Hazel E. Whitesell 76, Indianapolis passed away December 4, 2008. She was born May 26, 1932 in Indianapolis to the late Dick and Anna (Herringa) Yager. She was employed over thirty years by Perry Township Schools as an educator, retiring in 1992. Hazel was a volunteer at both the Indianapolis Public Libraries and Perry Township School Libraries. Survivors include her daughter Denise (Mike) Willage of Indianapolis; sons Richard (Pam) McKenzie of Marion and Dean (Tami) McKenzie of Indianapolis; brother Charles Yager of Greenwood; and nine grandchildren. Stephen Hoagland
85, Indianapolis passed away November 27, 2008. He was born December 22, 1922 in Indianapolis to Stephen and Elizabeth (Sharkey) Hoagland. He married
Eva Louise Kinney June 20, 1948 in Scottsburg and she survives. Mr. Hoagland was a graduate of Manual High School and attended the Herron School of Art. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS George E. Badger and USS Finnegan. He was employed 34 years by the Indianapolis Fire Department retiring in 1982 as Captain. His memberships includeChrist United Methodist Church; Brookside Masonic Lodge No. 420 F & AM; Scottish Rite; Murate Shrine Club; Detroyer Escort Sailers Hoosier Chapter No. 1; Past President Indianapolis Firefighters Retirees Club. Other survivors include his son Stephen (Tonda) Hoagland, Greenwood; Daughter Kathy (Kenneth) Westercamp, Greenwood; and four grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sister Betty L. Schurman and grandson Christopher Westercamp. Harold A. "Red" Miller
88, Greenwood, formerly Indianapolis, passed away November 28, 2008. He was born February 22, 1920 at Indianapolis to the late Charles W. and Hilda Radar Miller. Harold married
Velma Ruth Clark August 29, 1941 at Indianapolis, who preceded him in death March 12, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother Gladys Lesser Miller Wickliff. Survivors include his son Rev. Charles W. Miller, Greenwood; daughters Donna (John) Wells, Poland, IN, Patty (Bert) Carson, Greenwood and Carol Ruth (Bernie) Myss, Kokomo; brother Donald Morris Miller, Greenwood; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Harold was a member of Trinity General Baptist Church, Southport Lodge No. 270 F & AM, and Purchasing Agents Assn. of Indianapolis. Harold was employed 39 years at Central States Bridge and Structure Co. retiring in 1981 as Purchasing and Operations Ive President. He later was employed as General Superintendent seven years at Midwest Tank and Manufacturing Co. Harold and his wife were former owners of Accent on Beaute of Indianapolis. Margaret J. Joseph Sr.
78, Greenwood passed away November 28, 2008. She was born May 5, 1930 in Indianapolis to the late George and Mildred (Arthur) O'Haver. She married
Ira A. Joseph on February 14, 1948 in Indianapolis and he preceded her in death October 13, 2001. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where a service will be conducted Tuesday, December 2 at 10 AM. Visitation will be held Monday, December 1, from 5 - 8 PM in Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center. Survivors include her son Ira A. Joseph, Jr., Indianapolis; daughters Kathleen Joseph of Greenwood, Patricia Joseph Gonterman of Indianapolis, Jeanette K. LaVigne of Indianapolis; brother Robert O'Haver of Indianapolis; sister Minnie Ellis of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren Matthew R. Joseph, Jacob A. Joseph, Stephanie R. LaVigne, Tori N. LaVigne, and Logan R. LaVigne; and one great grandson Michael A. Berning. She was preceded in death by four siblings. Bishop Robert W. Jones Sr. 96, Indianapolis passed away November 27, 2008. He was born February 11, 1912 in Randolph County, Indiana to Arville and Maud (Johnson) Jones. He married
Ruth E. Orff who preceded him in death May 5, 1991. His memberships include New Life Apostolic Church; Apostolic Ministerial Alliance, 55 years; and the Holiness Church of Jesus Christ of the Pentecostal Apostolic Faith since 1981. Robert was employed 10 years as a salvage repairman by Navistar International, retiring in 1978. Previously he was employed 13 years by John Sexton as a driver. Survivors include his son Robert (Karleen) Jones Jr., Paoli, Indiana; brother Boyd M. Jones, San Antonio, TX; sister Joy Burgasser, Indianapolis; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son Randall Jones; brothers Frank and Dale Jones; sisters Violet, Marguerite Hicks, Muriel Crick and Helen Crick. Ralph Hopewell
82, Indianapolis passed away November 25, 2008. He was born September 3, 1926 in Washington, IN to the late Ernest B. and Olive Stone Hopewell. Ralph married
Evelyn L. Hobson on May 3, 1952 in Washington, and she survives. He was an Air Force veteran and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church; Southport Lodge No. 270 F. & A.M. and Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite. He was employed 44 years at B & O Railroad retiring in 1986 as a storekeeper. Ralph was an avid bowler and golfer. Other survivors include daughter Becky (Ken) Honeywell, Indianapolis; sons Tim Hopewell, Camby and Larry Hopewell, Athens, GA; grandchildren Kristen and Shelby Hopewell. He was also preceded in death by sister Margery Hardy; brother Ernest M. Hopewell and twin brother Russell Hopewell. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 29 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 28 at the Mortuary. 38, Indianapolis passed away November 25, 2008. He was born November 5, 1970 in Indianapolis to Walter and Evelyn Oliver who survive. He married
Cary Rasmussen June 20, 1992 in the L.D.S. Temple, Washington D.C., and she survives. He was an Eagle Scout as well as a member of NATCA, and APTA. He served in the office of High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, having also served a two year mission in the Texas, Dallas mission. He was employed as an air traffic controller at the Indianapolis Center. Craig was also a physical therapist. Other survivors include his sons Camaron, Bailey, Ethan, and Brigham Oliver; daughter Clara Oliver; brothers Chuck (Brenda) Oliver, Franklin, Shawn (Dawn) Oliver, Eaton, OH; sisters Shannon (Scott) Kern, Cumming, GA, Michelle (Ben) Turney, Indianapolis; parents-in-law Gary and Connie Rasmussen, Indianapolis. He was also preceded in death by his sister Erin Oliver. Services 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 29 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 900 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis. 75, Greenwood formerly of Indianapolis passed away December 30, 2008. She was born August 4, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late James and Ida (Bray) Grubbs. She married
George Hill December 24, 1952 at Indianapolis and he survives. She was employed 15 years by J.C. Penny and later 20 years by Blue Cross retiring in 1995 as a customer service representative. Other survivors include her sons Steven (Patricia) Hill of Indianapolis and Randy (Wendy) Hill or Seminole, FL; brothers Harold (Linda) Grubbs of Indianapolis, George (Wilma) Grubbs of Lady Lake, FL, and Mike (Jenny) Christy of Indianapolis; sister Doris (Bill) McCain of Beech Grove; grandchildren Brian and Ashley Hill both of Indianapolis; and great grandchildren Ava Marie and Bryson Hill. Grace Maurice Carter-Sanders
91, Greenwood passed away peacefully December 21, 2008 at the Madera, CA home of her daughter Janice (Mike) Lawson with her loving family members at her bedside. She was born June 5, 1917 in Wolf County, KY to the late Hiram L. and Lizzie B. Chambers Whisman. Other survivors include sons Carl Edward Trader, Cape Coral, FL, James (Anita) Carter, Richmond, VA and John S. Carter, Greenwood; daughter Anna Kay (William) Swinney, Holton, IN; sisters Bertie Campbell, Frankfort and Ruth (Jim) Overton, Milton, KY as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Grace was also preceded in death by a daughter Clara Emogene Coulter and fifteen brothers and sisters. She was a member of Greenwood Christian Church and enjoyed hobbies of sewing and creating crafts. Her employment for several years included various local retail stores. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 29 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 28 at the Mortuary. Joseph Blazek, Jr.
76 of Indianapolis and Naples, FL left to be with his maker on December 17, 2008 following a long and courageous battle with emphysema and cancer. At the time of his passing, his wife Janet (Gilpin) Blazek and his children were by his side. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Ruth Elizabeth (Turner) Blazek Sr. He is also survived by his brother James (Tina) Blazek and his sister Mary Alice (Blazek) Fisher, his children Sidney L. (Jeanne) Blazek, Vickie L. (Blazek) (Jeff) Miller, Robert J. (Sue) Blazek, Anthony W. (Kyla) Blazek, Joseph Q. Blazek and Jerold I. (Sandy) Blazek, all of Indianapolis, step children Lois (Jeff) Admire of Wesley Chapel, FL, Alan T. Duncan of Indianapolis, Amy K. (Robert High) Duncan of Alexandria, VA and 23 grandchildren.
He was a retired builder and developer of homes and commercial developments and was a former owner of Wilson-Blazek Builders, Inc. of Indianapolis. He remained active in his real estate developments that he owned up until the time of his passing. Joe was a 1950 graduate of Southport High School where he quarterbacked the only undefeated football team. He was a member of the Southside Sertoma Club, Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and Southport Lodge No. 270 F. & A.M. Joe and his wife Janet were devoted members of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Naples, FL and the Southport Baptist Church in Indianapolis. He was an avid fisherman, Colts fan and enjoyed providing advice to all that needed it and those that did not want or need it. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his positive attitude and giving nature.
The family celebrated his life in a private ceremony on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Naples. The family will also hold a Memorial Service in Indianapolis in the spring. 90, Augusta, KY formerly of Greenwood and Indianapolis passed away December 16, 2008. She was born April 8, 1918 in Whittier, CA to the late Leo C. and Elma M. Johnson Kline. Sue married
Rev. Charles R. 'Dick' Heath on May 1, 1945 in San Diego, CA, he preceded her in death on March 11, 2006. She was a member of Southport United Methodist Church. Sue with her husband served with The Brazil Mission Ministry from 1956 - 1968. She is survived by daughters Maryalis (Milton) Brindley, Augusta, KY and Didi Marie (Chris) Shepherd, Naples, FL; grandchildren Lila Brindley, Milton (Denise) Brindley Jr., Seth Shepherd and Levi Shepherd; great grandchildren Brookelynn and Savannah Brindley; sisters Dorothy Hall, Big Bear, CA and Betty (Robert) McInnes, Victoria British Columbia. She was also preceded in death by a sister Lois Dinkel and brother Robert Kline. Dr. Hugh S. Deale
88, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008. He was a resident of Franklin United Methodist Community. He was born October 16, 1920 in Chesterton, IN to the late Rev. Henry V. and Sarah Sisson Deale. He married
Marjorie Ambrose on April 2, 1946 in Oblong, IL, she survives. Other survivors include a son, Kenneth S. (Barbara) Deale of Pinckney, MI; four daughters Julia Kay Deale of San Diego, CA, Gale (Ron) Willis of Sprague River, OR, Peggy Dickerson of Richmond, TX and Barbara (Dave) Miller of Cochabamba, Bolivia; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two nieces, five grand nieces and one grand nephew. He was also preceded in death by a son Hugh Rickwood Deale, sister Dorothy Deale Kellison and brother H. Vail Deale. He was a 1937 graduate of Plymouth, IN High School, a 1941 graduate of Albion College and a 1945 graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry. He served for 25 years as a missionary dentist with the Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church in Congo (Zaire) and Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) in Africa, Red Bird Mission in KY and in Haiti. He practiced dentistry in Chesterton, IN, North Judson, IN, Muncie, IN, Rochester, IN and later served as a dentist with the State of Indiana at the State Prison in Michigan City and the Richmond State Hospital in Richmond, IN. In November 1984 he and his wife moved to the Franklin United Methodist Community where he served part time as a dentist for seven years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he sang with the choir and participated in the Saturday Morning Mens Prayer Team. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13 at Franklin United Methodist Community Wright Chapel. The family will greet friends following the service at a reception in Fellowship Hall at FUMC. 93, passed away December 8, 2008. She was born November 4, 1915 in Indianapolis to the late Christian and Elizabeth Geiger Schwarz. Martha was married
to Harry F. Butler 47 years. She then was married
to Anthony A. Amann 5 years and he also preceded her in death. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, shopping and sewing. She is survived by nieces Maureen (Roger) Concepcion, Shirley Raymond and Patty Knight; nephews James R. (Linda) Schwarz, Robert A. (Margaret) Schwarz, and David Thompson. She was also preceded in death by sister Freida Thompson and brother John Roland Schwarz. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 10 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Holy Cross cemetery.

She is also survived by daughters Karen (Harry) Suiters, Indianapolis, Donna (Dwayne) Johnson, Woodbury, TN; sons Terry (Donna) Allen, Indianapolis and Jackie Warrenburg, Indianapolis; step daughter Darlene Sue Rigby, Indianapolis; stepsons Donald W. Rigby, Indianapolis and Ray Rigby Jr., Indianapolis; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; eleven step great grandchildren; sisters Pamela (Michael) Hargraves, Indianapolis; Penny Chandler, Camby; step sisters Becky and Mayra Stevens; step brother Johnny Stevens, Greenwood and two nephews and one niece.
