Loretta Ida Quintero, 80, Monticello, formerly of Logansport, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at her residence.

Born May 12, 1931, in Adair, Okla., she was the daughter of John H. and Nell Jones Rumsey.

She was a retired housekeeper.

Surviving are sons, Richard E. Quintero and wife, Ruth, Idaville, and Able Lee Quintero Jr. and David J. Quintero, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Herbert, Charles, Harold, Forest and Loren Rumsey; and one sister, Mildred Livingston.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Gross officiating.

Friends may call one hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Robert W. Heckard
(January 4, 1922 - October 4, 2011)

U.S. Veteran
Robert W. Heckard, 89, Logansport, died at 1:47 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital. Born Jan. 4, 1922, in Cass County, he was the son of William and Gertrude Moss Heckard. He was married Aug. 29, 1943, in Burrows, to Dorthy Lucile Klepinger, who preceded him in death Jan. 18, 2005. Bob was a retired farmer and school bus driver. He was a member of Webb Chapel United Methodist Church, Tipton Masonic Lodge 33, Logansport York Rite and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. Bob also was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and the Korean War. Surviving are sons, John Heckard and wife, Sandy, Logansport, David Heckard and wife, Brenda Sue, Berne, and William Heckard and wife, Edna, Seneca, S.C.; daughters, Rosemary Lafrance and husband, Pierre, and Susan Dowd and husband, John, all of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law, Brenda Heckard, Logansport; 12 grandchildren, Lisa Ecker and husband, Jason, Michael Heckard, Robert Heckard III and wife, Heather, Abigail Miller and husband, Brice, Matthew Heckard and wife, Jessica, Jenna Norris and husband, Daniel, Kimberly Pursch and husband, Jeff, Jill Porter and husband, Sam, and Samuel, Daniel, Benjamin and Jeremiah Heckard; and 10 great-grandchildren, Nicole Heckard, Bryon Ecker, Shailin Heckard, Megan Ecker, Cody Heckard, Jordyn Dowd, Makenzie Pursch, Max Dowd, Alexander Pursch and Reijah Norris. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Heckard II; one brother, Allen W. Heckard; and one sister, Emily Chambers. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Bergstrom officiating. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Keeps Creek cemetery, Clymers. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Webb Chapel U.M. Church building fund.

Leanna Paige Martin
(November 11, 1992 - September 25, 2011)

Leanna Paige Martin, 18, Logansport, died at 5:39 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, in an auto accident two miles north of Delphi.

Born Nov. 11, 1992, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Leland Paige Caldwell and Angel Downs. She was married Nov. 12, 2009, in Logansport, to Henry L. Martin.

Leanna was currently working at Bath & Body Works in the Castleton Square Mall in Indianapolis.

Leanna enjoyed photography and was a 2011 graduate of Logansport High School, where she had been a Berryette, was with the color guard and was a former cheerleader.

She was also a member of the art club in high school.

Surviving are her husband, Henry L. Martin, Logansport; her father, Leland Caldwell, Kokomo; her mother, Angel Tremblay, Logansport; brother, Christopher Tremblay, Logansport; sister, Natasha Lynn Fife, Ottawa, Kan.; maternal grandparents, John and Carolyn Oehlert, Logansport; four uncles; two aunts; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home.

Friends may call one hour before services Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.

Larry I Hizer
(April 23, 1937 - October 4, 2011)

Larry I. Hizer, 74, Logansport, died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born April 23, 1937, in Logansport, he was the son of Charles Hizer and Audrey A. Schreckenghaust. He was married Oct. 21, 2006, in Logansport, to Lois Yocum.

Larry worked 30 years at Midwest Plating and also worked for the Pharos-Tribune as a paper route carrier for 40 years.

Larry enjoyed hunting and watching the Gaither videos.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Hizer, Logansport; daughters, Kim Fowler and husband, Tony, Clymers, Penny Smith and husband, Jeff, Logansport, Shawny Bortell and husband, Scot, Knox, Lisa Ervin and husband, Todd, Logansport, Theresa Hudson and husband, James, Peru, and Tracey Berry and husband, David, Logansport; son, Larry Wesley Hizer and wife, Donna, Denver; stepdaughters, Michelle Clark, Logansport, Amy Furgerson, Ohio, and Angel Cox and husband, Richie, Logansport; stepsons, Raymond Hartman and wife, Rhythm, Logansport, James E. Johnston, Oxford, and Lloyd Long, Logansport; former wife, Sally Thompson and husband, Bob, Logansport; several grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa K. Hizer.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastors Bill Collins and Mike Stow officiating.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Norma Jean Stephens
(May 16, 1931 - September 30, 2011)

Norma Jean Stephens, 80, Logansport, died at 4:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born May 16, 1931, in Deer Creek, Norma was the daughter of Elmer Stephens and Lottie Johnson.

She retired from RBM after 42 years of service. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie L. Bell and husband, Jim, Logansport; granddaughters, Allison Campbell and Jeni Campbell, both of Logansport; great-grandson, Landon Fernung, Logansport; great-granddaughter, Macaya Jones, Logansport; stepgranddaughter, Melissa Herman and husband, Ron, Noblesville; stepgrandsons, Brad Bell and Kevin Bell, Logansport; stepgreat-grandson, Jordan Herman, Noblesville; sister, Helen Butzin, Peru; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, JoAnna Gilsinger, Mary Lou Shaw and Betty Odom.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, William Charles Franklin Campbell; four sisters, Buelah Cotner, Lela Stephens, Mary Jane Kelly and Donna Roller; and two brothers, Harry Stephens and Argel Guthrie.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Gundrum Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bruce Vernon officiating. Interment will be at Rock Creek cemetery in Logansport.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Logansport Special Olympics.

Darrell K. DeWitt
(March 3, 1932 - September 24, 2011)

Darrell K. DeWitt, 79, Logansport, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 in Logansport Memorial Hospital, Logansport.

Born March 3, 1932, in Walton, he was the son of Neil DeWitt and Ethel E. Nice. On June 3, 1956, in Logansport, he was married to Shirley A. Hamilton, who survives.

A 1950 graduate of Metea High School, he attended First United Methodist Church. He was retired as a truck driver from Louisville Cement Co.

Mr. DeWitt was a U.S Army veteran. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 3790.

Also surviving is a son, Randy DeWitt and wife, Vickie, Logansport; daughters, Tammy Allison and husband, Herb, Logansport, Shelly Heath and husband, Rick, Logansport, Lisa Cooler and husband, Smittie, South Carolina; brothers, Dale DeWitt and wife, Diane, Lucerne, Donnie DeWitt, Twelve Mile, and James “Jim” DeWitt, Logansport; sister, Judy DeWitt, Logansport, and Charlene Warner, Logansport; granddaughters, April Zartman and husband, Sean, Logansport, and Heather Harrison and husband, James, Logansport; grandson, Jeremy Lewis and wife, Carla, Carmel; granddaughters, Crystal Craig and husband, James, Galveston, Kayla Allison, Arkansas, and Alisha Allison, Indianapolis; grandson, Dustin Heath and wife, Julie, Amboy; granddaughter, Ashley Weathers, Lafayette; grandsons, Wesley Cooler and Alex Cooler, both of South Carolina; and 12 great-granddaughters.

One brother, Eugene DeWitt, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home. Pastor Dean Fager will officiate.

Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Logansport.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Logansport or the American Cancer Society.

Carol L Mowery
(March 2, 1930 - October 29, 2011)

Carol L. Mowery, 81, Logansport, died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at her residence. Born March 2, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Robert E. and Gertrude Reese Martin. She was married Dec. 27, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, to E. Troy Mowery, who preceded her in death Feb. 2, 2002. Carol was a licensed practical nurse for Advantage Home Health Care. She had also worked at Switches and Logansport Memorial Hospital. Surviving are sons, Michael Mowery, Logansport, Jeffery Mowery and wife, Tamara, Carmel, and Troy Mowery and wife, Joey, Monticello; 10 grandchildren, Brandi Mowery, Brock Mowery and wife, Nicole, Luke Mowery, Lucy Mowery, Jennifer Howell and husband, Jason, Jessica Nichols, Blaine Mowery, Cody Mowery and LeAnn Robinson and husband, Michael; and nine great-grandchildren, Seanna Redman, Madison Hendrix, Taylor Howell, Grayson Mowery, Brooklynn Howell, Evan Mowery, Olivia Mowery, Tori Robinson and Michael Robinson. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Rhonda Jo Redman, and one daughter, Barbara Ann Nichols. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gundrum Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Mowery-Baldwin cemetery, Ten Mile, Tenn. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Debra Jo Fisher
(June 27, 1958 - October 22, 2011)

Debra Jo Gaddis-Fisher, 53, Logansport, died at 9:02 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Chase Center, Logansport. Born June 27, 1958, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Glenn Gaddis Jr. and Patricia Gilbert. Deb was formerly employed at BTR. She was a member of the VFW Post 3790 Ladies Auxiliary. Debra enjoyed playing pool and was a 1977 graduate of Lewis Cass High School. Survivors include daughter Alyce Gaddis and fiancée, Frank Norris, Logansport; son Michael Thomas and wife Corrina, Royal Center; grandson Van Thomas, Royal Center; brother Glenn D. Gaddis III and wife Tina, Logansport; sister Barbara Valdez, Logansport; special friend Jackie Gleitz and family, Logansport; grandson Donnavyn Norris; nieces and nephews Harold Gaddis and wife Emily, Maine; Julia Rose and husband Mark, Logansport; Nicholas Gaddis, Peru, Brandi Brovont and husband Cameron, Georgia; and several great nieces and nephews. A granddaughter, Emma Jade Gerald-Thomas, preceded in death. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home. Pastor Kevin Drane will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mary A. Buck
(March 24, 1920 - October 23, 2011)

Mary A. Buck, 91, Logansport, died at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Miller’s Merry Manor. Born March 24, 1920, in Lynn County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Mathias and Alice Dudley Shaffer. She was married March 9, 1940, in Spencer’s Grove, Iowa, to John Harrison Buck, who preceded in death July 19, 1989. Mary was a former bookkeeper for John Buck Plumbing. She was a homemaker and former school crossing guard. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in California for 40 years. She enjoyed volunteering a lot of her time to the “Someone Cares” program in the Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, Calif. Surviving are sons, Robert L. Buck, Lucerne, Joseph Earl Buck and wife, Barbara, Logansport, and Paul Daniel Buck and wife, Marilyn, Saugus, Calif.; daughter, Emma Bjornstad and husband, Russell, Culver; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Leland J. Buck; five brothers; four sisters; and one great-granddaughter. Services will be held at a later date in Lancaster, Calif. Burial will be in Joshua Memorial Park cemetery, Lancaster, Calif. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Gundrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Betty L Gibson
(June 24, 1924 - October 31, 2011)

Betty L. Gibson, 87, Logansport, died at 11:33 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at University Place, West Lafayette.

Born June 24, 1924, in Amboy, she was the daughter of Ernest Chap and Cynthia Marie Dearddorff Parish. She was married Jan. 26, 1946, in South Bend, to Perry N. Gibson, who preceded her in death Sept. 2, 1991.

She was a retired office manager for Pat Gibson’s Pool & Carpet Supplies and a member of Spring Creek Christian Church.

Surviving are daughters, Kathleen S. Wolf, West Lafayette, Beth A. Henry, Wauchula, Fla., and Lori L. Loehmer, Winamac; son, Michael P. Gibson and wife, Kathy, Logansport; sisters, Ruby Black, New Waverly, Dorothy Lynch, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Marge Clem, Peru; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Parish, Eugene Parish and Robert Parish; and two sisters, Opal Parish and Carol Angle.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Kyle Gennicks officiating.

Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Spring Creek Christian Church Ministries Fund in memory of Betty Gibson.
