Frankie Adam Chandler, 35, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012. He was born March 6, 1977 in Bloomington to Ira Richard and Betty (Wood) Chandler. He was a 1997 graduate of Owen Valley High School where he played football and was known as "Touchdown Chandler." Frankie studied criminal justice at Indiana State University and attended the Indiana Corrections Academy and Federal Law Enforcement Academy in Glynco, GA.
Wilbur Young - May 14, 2012
Wilbur A. Young passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012. He was born in Smithville in Owen County on September 10, 1918 to Aaron W. and Ellen (Neiswinger) Young. Wilbur graduated from Patricksburg High School in 1936. He attended the Patricksburg United Methodist Church for many years. Mr. Young worked for the Sherman Paper Company in Indianapolis and Chicago and then the Big Ben Coal Company in Brazil.

Connie S. Ranard, 67 of Spencer, passed away at her residence on Friday, May 11, 2012. She was born in Linton to Virgil and Florence (Hays) Buckner on June 8, 1944. She was a 1962 graduate of Linton High School. Connie was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority in Spencer and the Church of Christ on East Morgan St. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Brad Dean Arthur, 54, of Spencer, passed away IU hospital in Indianapolis, May 9, 2012. He was born in Greencastle on February 25, 1958 to Wesley Eugene and Virginia (Denny) Arthur. He was a 1976 graduate of Owen Valley High School. He worked 35 years for Milestone Contractors in Indy as paving superintendent, and was owner operator of Brad Arthur Seal Coating in Spencer. Brad was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Apostolic.
Bennie Withem - May 8, 2012
Bennie H. Withem, 85, of Spencer passed away at the Owen Valley Health Campus, Tuesday, May 8, 2012. He was born in Owen County on August 27, 1926 to Ben and Minnie (Meadows) Withem. Bennie was a Navy Veteran, serving during WWII. He worked several years at Midland Press in Spencer and then in the maintenance department at the Spencer Owen Schools, retiring in 1989. Mr. Withem was a member of the Spencer Christian Church.
Ila Ruth "Bobbie" Booher - May 6, 2012
Ila Ruth "Bobbie" Booher, 86, of Greenfield, formerly of Spencer, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the Golden Living Nursing Home. She was born the fifth of nine children, December 23, 1925 in Indianapolis to Ray and Lillian (Bunce) Lakin. In her early years Bobbie worked in a war factory machine shop. She retired from RCA in Indianapolis with over 20 years of service.

George H. Pierce, 79, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at IU Health in Bloomington. He was born December 24, 1932 in Marmaduke, AR to Claude and Ida Mae (McCluskey) Pierce. George served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a lineman for Indiana Bell Phone Company and attended Spencer Baptist Church.

William is survived by his mother, Theresa and Leroy Odle of Waltonville, IL; three sons, Joe and William "Billy" Mount of Indianapolis, and Jasper Mount of Coal City; two daughters, Hannah Mount of Coal City and Jessica Mount.

Keith J. Bushong, 81, of Spencer, passed away at Owen Valley Health Campus Tuesday, April 10, 2012. He was born in Anderson, IN on September 28, 1930 to Norman and Kathryn (Comstock) Bushong. He was a graduate of Anderson High School. He served in the United States Army. Keith worked for Delco Remy as a machinist. He was a member a member of the Owen County Amateur Radio Association and enjoyed gardening and bee keeping.
Mabel Ranard - April 7, 2012
Mabel I. Ranard, 85, of Bloomington, formerly of Newark, passed away at Garden Villa, Saturday, April 7, 2012. She was born in Owen County, June 18, 1926, to Dolphus and Doris (Collins) Freeman. She was a member Newark Pentecostal Church and enjoyed making crafts. Mabel is survived by two sons, Lonnie Ranard (Anita) of Bloomfield, and Tony Ranard of Solsberry; a daughter, Peggy Jones of Bloomington.

Arlene J. Upp 84 died Saturday at the Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home. She was born on December 3, 1926 in Hamilton to Virgil and Ruth (Shrider) Robinett. Arlene was a graduate of Hamilton High School and worked at Maxton Motors in Butler as a parts clerk. She married
Keith H. Upp on September 3, 1948 in Hamilton, he preceded in death on October 19, 1997. Arlene was a member of the Butler United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law Douglas and Maggie Upp of Butler and Steven Upp of Butler; two daughters and sons-in-law Deanna and Robert Jennings of Leo and Deborah and Eric Johnson of Butler; seven grandchildren Julie Lengacher, Jennifer Hood, Justin Upp, Chandra Steury, Jared Johnson, Zach Johnson, and Alex Upp; eleven great grandchildren; a brother Larry Robinett of Michigan City, IN; and two sisters Lorinne James of Auburn and Loene McNew of Michigan City, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Julia, and a step mother Myrtle Robinett. Funeral services for Arlene Upp will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Butler United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Marsh officiating. Calling will be Monday from 2-7 at H. E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Butler and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Butler cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Butler United Methodist Church.

Angola: Regina Ann Mann, 58, died Saturday March 7, 2015 at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital. Regina was born on August 2, 1956 in Ashland, Kentucky to Thomas J. Jarrell, Jr. and Sarah A. (Presley) Jarrell. She worked for Bob Evans in Angola as a culinary specialist. She was a member of Angola Assembly of God Church in Angola where she was active in the church and bus ministry. Survivors include her mother; Sarah A. (Presley) Jarrell of Angola, 2 sons; Dereck and Jared L. Mann of Angola, a daughter; Sarah Lewis of Angola. 6 brothers; Richard Jarrell of Angola, Don O’Pell of Ashland, Kentucy, Thoms R. Jarrell of Hamilton, Indiana, James R. Jarrell of Pendleton, South Carolina, Larry E. Jarrell of Michigan City, Indiana and Phillip M. Jarrell of Arkansas. 2 sisters; Denise Smith of Auburn, Indiana and Janet E. Jarrell of Angola. Also surviving is one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father Thomas J. Jarrell Jr.
Services Thursday March 12, 2015 at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 108 S. West St. Angola, Indiana at 1pm with Rev. Darold Beck of Angola Assemly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in Eddy cemetery, Hamilton.
