Steven E. Hook
MICHIGAN CITY -- Steven E. Hook, 51, former Anderson resident, died unexpectedly March 29, 2002, in Michigan City.
Survivors include his mother, Gloria Hook Sailers; brother, Robert C. Hook; sister, Wendy Hook; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral service or visitation. Cremation will take place.
Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson, handled local arrangements.
Robert Hunter
MECHANICSBURG -- Robert Hunter died March 30, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness. Arrangements are pending at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, Middletown.
Rosella M. Moore
ELWOOD -- Rosella Mary Moore, 77, died March 30, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela (husband, Steve) Dennis and Phyllis (husband, Richard) Ball; son, Randy Moore; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Ralph D. Moore, died Feb. 27, 1979.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., officiated by the Rev. Marvin Hahn. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Elwood.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Barbara M. Nelson
WATERFORD, N.Y. -- Barbara M. (Marine) Nelson, 79, of Van Schoonhoven Square, and formerly of Anderson, died March 30, 2002, at Northwoods of Troy, Troy, N.Y.
She was retired as a secretary at Metals Testing Co. in South Windsor, Conn.
Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie A. Nelson, Linda S. Wegener and Betty Jane Mermelstein; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.

Robert C. Reese
ELWOOD -- Robert C. Reese, 55, died March 31, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital, Elwood. Arrangements are pending at Copher & Fesler Funeral Home.
Frank Alte Jr.
Frank Alte Jr., 81, Anderson, died March 30, 2002, at ManorCare Health Services after an extended illness.
He was born June 22, 1920, in Elwood, and moved to Anderson 57 years ago from Elwood. He retired in 1987 from Delco Remy where he was a tool crib attendant for 45 years.
In the 1960s he sang with the General Motors Barber Shop Chorus and was its treasurer. He loved gospel music and enjoyed his many Gaither tapes. He liked woodworking and had a workshop in his basement. He made furniture for his home and gifts for his friends. He had many friends with whom he kept in touch and enjoyed spending time.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ruby (Williams) Alte, whom he married March 24, 1944, in Muncie; son, Gary K. Alte of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Naomi Alte of Indianapolis; nephew, Douglas Alte of Indianapolis; and former daughter-in-law, Rebecca Graham of Muncie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Cecil M. (Lineberry) Alte Sr.; two brothers, Harry Alte and Richard Alte; and a nephew, Samuel Alte.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Jerry Snyder of Lone Oak Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Madison County Shrine Club Crippled Children's Fund.
Charles A. Bailey
Charles A. Bailey, 81, Anderson, passed away March 31, 2002, at St. John's Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was born July 9, 1920, in Scipio, and lived most of his life in Anderson. He retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in 1982 after 42 1/2 years of employment. He was a past master of Lapel Masonic Lodge 625, past patron of Lapel Order of Eastern Star 457 and member of Anderson Elks Lodge 209.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen Maxine (Mittendorf) Bailey of Anderson, whom he married June 8, 1946; brother, Abrum Leo (wife, Sue) Bailey of Gallatin, Tenn.; sisters, Betty Ruth (husband, Robert) Boaz of Indianapolis and Barbara (husband, Ed) Boaz of Yuma, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie (McCallister) Bailey.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery
with the Rev. Byron K. Rose of East Lynn Christian Church in Anderson officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are being handled by Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Esther J. Ebbert
PENDLETON -- Esther J. (Heath) Ebbert, 90, Pendleton, died March 31, 2002, at St. John's Medical Center in Anderson after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 28, 1911, in Madison County, and was a lifelong Pendleton resident. She was a homemaker.
She was a graduate of Wishard Nursing School in Indianapolis.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Johnson; three grandchildren, John Johnson of Anderson, and Mark Johnson and Kevin Johnson, both of Pendleton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cort Ebbert on Nov. 1, 1979; her parents, Robert and Etta (Myers) Heath; son-in-law, Herbert A. Johnson; four brothers; and a sister.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mendon Cemetery
in Pendleton with the Rev. Bradley Smith officiating.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, Anderson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Helen I. Hancher
ALEXANDRIA -- Former Elwood resident Helen I. Hancher, 93, Alexandria, died April 1, 2002, at Alexandria Care Center after an extended illness.
She was employed as a sales clerk at J.C. Murphy & Co. in Elwood for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Smith and Beverly Stephens; three sons, Kenneth M. Hancher, James E. Hancher and Donn E. Hancher; brother, Jean Cloud; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband of 55 years, Ervin E. Hancher, died on June 25, 1984.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Copher & Fesler Funeral Home, Elwood, with the Rev. Greg Waggoner officiating. Burial will be in Elwood City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
