Rodney D. Jackson

SUMMITVILLE -- Rodney D. "RD" Jackson, 64, Summitville, died Aug. 14, 2003, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 23, 1938, in Muncie, and resided in Summitville since 1975. He was an electrical estimator and project manager. He worked with Sater Electric for several years. He retired in March of 2003 after 43 years of employment.
He was a member of the Pendleton United Methodist Church and Ovid Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Gayle (Burgess) Jackson of Summitville, whom he married Feb. 14, 1975, in Dunkirk; six children, Kristie and husband Bob Sikorski of Anderson, Brian and wife Joan Fruitt of Cape Coral, Fla., Debra Craig of Marshall, Ill., Julie and husband Jeff Howe of Carmel, Rodney and spouse Jackson II of Dunkirk and Michelle Selvey of California; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Brad Cook of Beaumont, Texas, and Marilyn and Mark Kent of Bedford; brother, Ken Jackson of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Crystal Burgess; sister-in-law, Toni Sharp; and brother-in-law, John Sharp.
He had a great love for his family. He was a very patriotic person and loved his country. He loved boating, fishing, NASCAR racing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O.K. Jackson and Thelma Lyons.
Services will be 5 p.m. Sunday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson, with Pastor Tim Wilbur of Pendleton United Methodist Church officiating.
Visitation will be two hours before services Sunday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. John's Hospice.
James J. Jenkins
May 3, 1957 -- Aug. 13, 2003
James Joseph "Jimmy Joe" Jenkins, 46, Anderson, died Aug. 13, 2003, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born May 3, 1957, in Anderson, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. He was employed by Hopewell Center for 20 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of Bunker Hill Free Will Baptist Church. He was an honorary member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 174 Eagles. His favorite sportscaster was Harry Caray. He was a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He was an avid WWF Wrestling fan and a Purdue basketball fan. He loved to dance and sing.
He was active in Special Olympics and was awarded the Shriver-Kennedy certificate. He was an active bowler at Rains Bowling Gardens for the Hopewell League. He was a very large Elvis fan. He brought a lot of love and joy to his family and friends.
Survivors include his parents, James H. and Erma (Reed) Jenkins of Anderson; a brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Jill Pelsor of Frankton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Brian Ayres of Anderson and Teresa and Billy Sheets of Bunker Hill; five aunts and uncles, Joe and Judy Reed of Palmetta, Fla., Shirley Holliday of Anderson, Beverly and Ron McSherry of Callahan, Fla., Bill and Laura Reed of Albany, Ga., and Louis and Virginia Reed of Loveland, Ohio; eight nieces and nephews, Brandi and Michael Pelsor, Aaron Ayres, Jamie Sheets, Andrew Ayres, Megan Harmon, Alan Ayres and Janae Sheets; and great-niece, Logan Shively.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John William Pelsor; maternal grandparents, William and Mary Reed; paternal grandparents, Harry and Dessie Jenkins; several aunts and uncles; and friends.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Billy Sheets of Bunker Hill Free Will Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Special Olympics or Frankton Volunteer Fire Department.
Helen M. Kennedy
Sept. 26, 1914 -- Aug. 13, 2003
Former Alexandria resident Helen Mae (Stallsmith) Kennedy, 88, Anderson, died Aug. 13, 2003, at CrownPointe Senior Living Community.
She was the former Blackford County deputy auditor.
Survivors include three daughters, Rose Marie (husband, Earl A.) McMillen, Patricia S. (husband, Bob G.) Hall of Anderson and Judy Ann (husband, Robert L.) DeGarmo; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 58 years, Glen Edgar Kennedy, on April 22, 1993.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Keplinger Funeral Home, Hartford City, with the Rev. Philip E. Abram officiating. Burial will be in Hartford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and two hours before services Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 303 N. Walnut St., Hartford City.
Joe E. Nickerson
April 22, 1941 -- Aug. 13, 2003
INGALLS -- Joe E. Nickerson, 62, Ingalls, died Aug. 13, 2003, at St. John's Medical Center in Anderson.
He was a janitor at Mary Evelyn Castle Elementary School, Castleton, for nine years, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Margaret L. (Spurling) Nickerson; son, James E. Nickerson; mother, Marie F. (Castor) Nickerson; brother, Robert W. Nickerson; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Bright Chapel, Pendleton, with the Rev. Tim Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Memorial Cemetery, Noblesville.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Linda D. Swinford-Reed

Linda D. (Chesser) Swinford-Reed, 54, Anderson, died Aug. 13, 2003, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born Jan. 17, 1949, in Anderson, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. She was employed in production at Guide Lamp for 19 years, retiring in 1996.
She was a member of North Anderson Church of God. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1967.
She was a member of United Auto Workers Local 663. She loved her grandchildren.
Survivors included her husband of nearly four years, Morris R. Reed of Anderson, whom she married Oct. 23, 1999, in Anderson; mother, Mary J. (Day) Hilligoss (husband, Ralph Hilligoss) of Anderson; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Rebecca Swinford of Anderson; stepson, Regan M. Reed of Anderson; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Jerry Crawford of Murray, Ky.; two grandchildren, Brittany Renee Swinford and Bryant Douglas Swinford, both of Anderson; two stepgrandchildren, Brandon Ferguson and Brad Ferguson of Anderson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Morris W. and Darlene Reed of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are five special friends, Julie Groce (companion, Bruce Hershberger) of Anderson, Steve and Janet Quate of Muncie, Herb and Elaine Hudson of Anderson, Dave and Anita Hannaford of Anderson, and Debbi and Woody Furney of Anderson; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Douglas Swinford; father, Elmer Chesser; and a brother, Daniel Lee Chesser.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Jim Rogers of North Anderson Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Noble H. West
Noble H. West, 79, Anderson, died Aug. 14, 2003, at St. John's Medical Center after a brief illness. Arrangements are pending at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel.
James E. Cox
NEW CASTLE -- James Edwards Cox, 78, died unexpectedly March 30, 2002, at Henry County Memorial Hospital.
He was a longtime local area farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Cox; daughter, Karen (husband, David) Boram; two sons, Michael (wife, Heidi) Cox and Matthew (wife, Jo) Cox; brother-in-law, Ray (wife, Martha) Frost; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Herbertene (husband, Leonard) Whiteman; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at South Memorial Drive Church of God, officiated by the Rev. Mark Martin. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown.
Visitation hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle, and one hour prior to the Wednesday service at the church.
