Margaret M. “Peggy” Biddle, 84
Margaret M. "Peggy" Biddle, 84, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2006, at 9:54 p.m. at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru, surrounded by the family she loved so much.
She was born August 21, 1921 in Youngstown, Ohio, to Leo and Alberta Crane Smith. She married Robert W. Biddle on September 6, 1947 in Beaver Falls, Pa.
Peggy grew up in Beaver Falls, where she won a full scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business. She graduated during World War II and served in the American Red Cross. She received her master's degree in elementary education from Indiana University and taught first grade at Elmwood School for over 20 years. After retirement, she volunteered for many community organizations, including Dukes Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Salvation Army.
A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, she was known among her family and friends for her homemade pies, particularly her peach pie.
She is survived by her husband Robert; one son, Robert W. Biddle, Jr., Noblesville; three daughters, Susan Greer and husband Larry, Lafayette; Patricia Ann Biddle, Lafayette; and Jennifer M. Biddle, Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Andrew Greer, Robert W. Biddle III and Skyla M. Biddle; one great-grandson, Jack Greer; one sister, Frances McCreary of Florida; two brothers, Robert P. Smith of Florida, and James H. Smith, Pennsylvania.
Our mother was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed, but we know she is at peace now.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Margaret M. "Peggy" Biddle will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru, with Dr. Lelan D. McReynolds officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service on Saturday.
Doris Ann Korba, 75
Doris Ann Korba, 75, of Peru, died on 11:25 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.
She was born Doris Ann Alcorn on October 18, 1930 in Ft. Myers, Fla. to the late John and Margaret Alcorn. She was married to Thomas Korba in June 1981 in the Wallick Mansion, Peru.
Mrs. Korba was a licensed practical nurse with Dukes Memorial Hospital, where she worked in pediatrics and surgery/recovery for more than 22, years retiring in 1993.
Upon her retirement from nursing, Mrs. Korba worked at Annie's Attic, Peru, where she made many cherished friends. Doris volunteered in the nursing station many years with the Peru Circus. She was a member of the Tuesday night Bible Study at the Peru Grace Brethren Church. Mrs. Korba enjoyed doll collecting, doll making and spending time with her loving husband, family and friends of all ages.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas; sons Robert Christensen and wife Debbie of Fortville; and John Christensen and wife Linda of Santa Rosa, Calif.; daughter Susan Christensen Lynch and her husband John of Elkins W.V.; step-sons Mike Korba and his wife Marti of Russiaville, and Dave Korba and his wife Janis of Kokomo; brother John Alcorn and his wife Edna of Clearfield, Ky.; a deceased sister, Peggy; grandchildren Jacob Christensen of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Kristi and Kevin Lynch of Elkins, W.V.; and Lauren and Spenser Christensen of Fortville; step-grandchildren Tony Korba and wife Jeana of Bunker Hill; Nikki Korba Logsdon and her husband Kerry of Tipton; two great-granddaughters, Lauren Kennedy Logsdon and Rhegan Nichole Logsdon; and her loving dog, Buster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St., Peru, with Rev. Frances I. Kilcline III officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru.
There will be a Prayer Service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. Charles Catholic Church.
Lucile L. Scott, 87
Lucile L. Scott, 87, Greentown, passed away at 2:52 p.m. on April 18, 2006 at Century Villa Health Care Center, Greentown.
She was born on March 15, 1919 in Denver to Clint and Mary Newbold Ricks. She married Robert P. Scott on April 29, 1937, and he survives.
She was a 1937 graduate of Mexico High School and was a member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church in Ft. Myers, Fla. Lucile was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Scott and wife Anita, La Mesa, Calif., and Russell "Dean" Scott and wife Becky, Peru; three daughters, Ruth Ann Boettjer and husband Fred, Mexico, Virginia Marshall and husband Walter, Peru, and Janice Davenport and husband Robert, Anderson, S.C.; 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, a great-grandson, and her favorite aunt, Ruth Newbold Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, with Pastor Ron Bowland officiating.
Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
Roberta L. Moore, 51
Roberta L. Moore, 51, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord at 3:53 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006 from St. Joseph Hospital.
She was born September 26, 1954 in Miami County, a daughter of Robert L. and Pauline Swingle Feller, both of whom survive. On May 26, 1995 she married Estel D. "Fuzzy" Moore in Kokomo.
She graduated from Maconaquah High School in 1974. She graduated from the University of California with a Bachelor of Arts in business and she earned an associate's degree from Ft. Wayne Business College.
She had been the Deer Creek Township Trustee since 1998. She had also been 5th District chairman of the Indiana Republican Women and secretary of Miami County Central Committee. She worked at St. Joe Hospital for 19 years in the Finance Department. She had also been an EMT for St. Joe's Ambulance service. She was a tireless worker for the Republican Party. She received the 2004 Republican Woman of the Year Award for District 5.
She especially loved her family and friends, and was always there for anyone in need. She attended Converse Church of Christ with her husband, Mother and Father, and loved doing things at the church, especially Vacation Bible School.
She was an avid fisherman, clay target shooter and loved playing golf with family members and going to car shows. She was an active volunteer for the Miami County Salvation Army and the Miami County 4-H.
Roberta was an inspiration to people while fighting her illness for the last 12 months, never giving up and always having a positive attitude, and keeping a strong faith in God.
She will be forever missed by her husband, family and friends until they are reunited in heaven.
She is survived by her husband and parents; in-laws Dean and Joyce Moore of Denver; a brother, Stephen and wife Lanell Feller of Kokomo; a sister, Debra L. McKinley of Miami County; a sister-in-law, Kelly Feller of Peru; brother-in-law Ron Moore and wife Marsha of Angola; sister-in-law Margie Stephenson and her husband Doug of Antwerp, Ohio; sister-in-law Patty Garvin and her husband Dennis of Bunker Hill; brother-in-law Mike Moore and his wife Pinky of Chili; nephews Matt Feller and his wife Andrea of Peru, Josh Feller of Kokomo, Brandt Murphy of Peru, and William Feller of Peru; nieces Erin Feller of Kokomo, Linzie Feller of Peru, and Kay Jenkins of Peru; great niece Natalie Jenkins of Peru; great-nephews Nathan Jenkins of Peru and Carter Sablisk of Peru.
Roberta had a special love for English Bulldogs and left her beloved Adam and Eve when she departed.
Services will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Converse Church of Christ, 301 East Wabash Street, Converse, with Rev. Rob Schwarze officiating.
Burial will follow in Rankin Cemetery, Miami County.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru.
Teddy Leon Simpson, 51
Teddy Leon Simpson, 51, Sharpsville, passed away at 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2006, at his residence.
He was born on April 1, 1955 in El Paso, Texas, to George R. and Georgia M. (Ford) Simpson, both surviving.
Simpson was a 1973 graduate of Maconaquah High School and attended motorcycle trade school. He worked at Hendrickson Motors, Logansport, in the service department, and later purchased Thermodyn, Inc., in Kokomo.
He was a devoted father, dutiful son, loving brother, and loyal friend. His kind, loving presence will be greatly missed by his family, business colleagues, and many friends.
Survivors include his parents, George R. and Georgia M. Simpson, Galveston; sons Nathan Andrew Simpson and Gregory Christopher Simpson, both of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Michelle Dawn Simpson, Kokomo; a granddaughter, Kylie Breighanne Simpson, Sharpsvilie; a grandson, Jayden Wesley Reynolds, Kokomo; a brother, William R. Simpson and wife Frances, Kokomo; a sister, Anita Gwenn Carlo and husband Sunil Atri, Franklinville, N.J.; nephews, Joseph R. Carlo II and Jon Joseph Carlo, Franklinville, N.J.; and Royce Allen Simpson, Kokomo.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Galveston Cemetery, Galveston, with Pastor Rob Ransom and Moses Khatibi officials.
Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery.
No public viewing is planned. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Guardian Angel Hospice of Kokomo.

Eva Marie Warner Friend, 89
Eva Marie Warner Friend, 89, Peru, and formerly of Macy, passed away at 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Blair Ridge, Peru.
She was born July 6, 1919 in Miami County to Leores O. and Kate Wilson Warner. On Oct. 16, 1941 she was married to Gerald D. Friend, and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1997.
Mrs. Friend was a graduate of Deedsville High School and went on to attend Ball State Teachers College. She later received her bachelor of science degree from IU-Kokomo. She taught elementary school at Fulton, Grass Creek, Gilead and North Miami Elementary.
She was an active member of the Mexico Baptist Church, the Allen Township Mother's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's sorority, and the former Macy Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and genealogy.
Survivors include two sons, James L. Friend and wife Judy, Peru, and William C. Friend and wife Ann, Macy; six grandchildren, Samantha Ward, Jennifer Sprague, Chris Herrell, Mandy Galyean, Trisha Spencer and Daniel Friend; nine great-grandchildren, Randy Marcus, Estella and James Ward, Rob and Harry Sprague, William and Sara Herrell, and Jacob Spencer; two sisters, Nada Miller and husband Paul, Jeffersonville, and Rosie Linn, Macy; one brother, Fred Warner and wife Barbara, Peru; and one brother-in-law, Granville Hattery, Fulton.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one granddaughter, Leanna Friend; two sisters, Ann Hattery and Elizabeth Young; and two brothers-in-law, Acel Young and Dayne Linn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mexico Baptist Church, with Pastor Charles Cole officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Mexico Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be directed towards the Mexico Baptist Church or National Parkinson Foundation.

Omer L. Guyer, Funeral Services for Omer L. Guyer, 87, of Denver will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 at McClain Funeral Home
Born May 1, 1916 on the Guyer Homestead near Denver, he was the son of Roy and Ida Opple Guyer.
On April 19, 1940, he married Evelyn Jones of LaFontaine; she died December 24, 1999.
Omer was the owner and operator of a farm in Denver. He was a former employee at International Harvester in Peru; McMahon Construction Company, Rochester; and Delco Electronics in Kokomo from which he retired in December, 1983.
Omer was a member of the Boundary Line church of Christ, LaFontaine.
Survivors include a sister, Esther L. Turnipseed, Miller Merry Manor, Peru; a daughter, Colleen Whittlesey and husband, Howard, Denver; four sons, Jay and wife, Patty, Florence, Kentucky; Juan and wife, Beverly, Brazil; Dan and wife, Tanja, Tampa, Florida; Dawson and wife, Renee', Brownsburg; twenty-four grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde and Earl; a son, Carson; and a daughter, Anita M. Lord.
Friends may call from 2-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2003 at McClain Funeral Home, 3500 West State Road 16, Denver and one hour prior to the services Saturday.
Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery
in Denver, and Sam Miller and Mike Willis will officiate at the services.
Esther W. Rudicel, Services for Esther W. Rudicel, 93, of Twelve Mile, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in McClain Funeral Home.
She died at 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, in Miller's Merry Manor, Logansport.
Born Oct. 8. 1910, in Cass County, she was the daughter of Robert Samuel and Grace Brown Williamson. She was married Oct. 31, 1933, in Royal Center, to Carl F. Rudicel, who preceded in death on Jan. 15, 2000.
A 1928 graduate of Metea High School, Mrs. Rudicel was a member of the Twelve Mile United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Adams Township Home Extension Club.
Surviving are three sons, Robert F. Rudicel and his wife, Ruth Ann, Lafayette, Richard D. Rudicel and his wife, Carla, Kokomo, and Rex E. Rudicel and his wife, Jennifer, Twelve Mile; 10 grandchildren, Mike Rudicel, Mark Rudicel, Joy Spitznogle, Jill Rudicel, Todd Rudicel, Tamara Kimbler, Kristen Rudicel, Chad Rudicel, Craig Rudicel, and Jaime Rudicel; and 12 great-grandchildren.
One brother, Robert S. Williamson, preceded in death.
Pastor Teri White will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Logansport.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
