Rose M. Wiedenhoeft, 85, Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999.
She was born Feb. 18, 1914, in Chicago, to John and Margaret Benn Tully. She married Daniel F. Wiedenhoeft on Nov. 16, 1940. He died May 26, 1985.
Mrs. Wiedenhoeft was a retired secretary for the Brotherhood of Carpenters. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and of the Peru Firemans Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son, Daniel Wiedenhoeft, Kokomo; one daughter, Ellen Sherrick, Peru; one brother, Victor Tully, Peru; two sisters, Eleanor Hill, Pensacola, Fla., and Mary Margaret Sheets, Lucerne; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Five brothers and one sister are deceased.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, with Father Philip Hasling officiating. Burial will be at the St. Charles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St. A prayer service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Earl E. "Terry" Moore, 80, Silvis, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 24, 1999, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill.
He was born March 4, 1919, in Peru, to Harry and Pearl Weaver Moore. He married Patricia Boyer on Dec. 18, 1939, in Plymouth. She survives.
Mr. Moore was a firefighter in Peru. He was an assistant manager for J.C. Penny, store manager for Montgomery Ward, and district manager for S&H Green Stamps. He retired in 1985.
He was a member of the Moline Viking Club, Moline, Ill. He enjoyed baseball, golf, fishing and bowling.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Yackley and husband Carl, Peoria, Ill., and Carol Lynne Long and husband Edward, Silvis, Ill.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Jean Clingaman and husband Earl, Indiana, and Betty Grady, Virginia.
Preceding him in death was great-grandson, Brian J. Coyle.
His body was cremated and there are no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

James E. Brock, 81, Dunnellon, Fla.
James E. Brock, 81, Dunnellon, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in Ocala, Fla.
He was born in Miami County and lived in Bunker Hill. He was retired and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1122 in Bunker Hill. Other memberships include the military Order of Cooties and Inverness Elks Lodge. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Brock, Dunnellon, Fla.; two sons, Jerry L. Brock, Longwood, Fla., and Michael Brock, Peru; one daughter, Sandra Cline, Indianapolis; one sister, Doris Remley, Crawfordsville; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was one grandson, Dennis Blessing.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. today at the First Christian Church, Dunnellon, with the Rev. George Roberts and the Rev. David Pardue officiating. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.
Contributions may be made to the VFW National Children's home in Eaton Rapids, Mich., or to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
Doris M. Derby, 96, Bunker Hill
Doris M. Derby, 96, Bunker Hill, died at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at ExtendaCare, Peru.
She was born March 2, 1903, in Cass County, to Albert and Martha Jane Oyler Wrights. She married Sylvester Derby. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Derby was a homemaker and a member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church. Other memberships include the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Bunker Hill.
Preceding her in death were one son, Sylvester D. Derby, one brother, and five sisters.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Springdale Cemetery, Bunker Hill, with the Rev. Mike Tatman officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Harry E. Thompson, 86, Kissimmee, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999.
He was born Dec. 12, 1912, in Peru. He moved to Kissimmee in 1983. He was a retired sales executive and a Protestant. He was a member of the Normbega Masonic Lodge, Newton, Mass.
Survivors include his wife, Harle P. Thompson, Kissimmee; one daughter, Gail A. Accornero, Needham, Mass.; two sons, Van P. Thompson, Mountainside, N.J., and Clark R. Thompson, Lakeside, Calif.; two brothers, Paul Thompson, Peru, and Robert Thompson, Peru; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Kathryn Freed Whisler, 87, North Manchester
Kathryn Freed Whisler, 87, North Manchester, died at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester.
She was born March 21, 1912, in Kosciusko County, to Howard and Iva Leckrone Metzger. She married Leonard D. Freed on May 29, 1931. He died Aug. 1, 1988. She married the Rev. H. Arthur Whisler on June 10, 1989. He died Aug. 29, 1998.
She graduated from Sidney High School and attended Manchester College. She worked as a secretary along with her husband, Leonard, as principal at Clay Township High School, Grovertown High School, and Union North School Corp., retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Eel River Church of the Brethren, Timbercrest Auxiliary, Shepherd's Center, Historical Society, Symphony Society, all of North Manchester, and the Retired Public Employees of Indiana.
Survivors include two sons, Paul D. Freed, Warsaw, and Stanley D. Freed, Midlothian, Va.; two stepsons, Glen Whisler, Defiance, Ohio, and John Whisler, Charleston, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Esther Noffsinger, Adrian, Mich., and Donna Krall, Cerro Gordo, Ill.; six brothers, Myron Metzger, North Manchester, Maurice Metzger, North Manchester, Gale Metzger, Warsaw, Loren Metzger, South Whitley, Leo Metzger, Auburn, and Thurl Metzger, Little Rock, Ark.; and two sisters, Martha Long, Bradford, Ohio, and Thelma Granshorn, Sechrist Lake.
Preceding her in death was one daughter.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Eel River Church of the Brethren, Ind. 14, Kosciusko County. Burial will be at Ulery Memorial Cemetery, Kosciusko County, with the Rev. Martha Cory and the Rev. Joan Deeter officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Delaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel.

Wayne E. Moore, 74, Kokomo
Wayne E. Moore, 74, Kokomo, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Tipton County, to Russell and Madge Waldron Moore. He married Linda A. Shuck on Feb. 12, 1965. She survives.
Mr. Moore was a retired machine operator at Haynes International in Kokomo. He was a tank driver during the
Korean War. He was also a Shriner for 19 years. He was a 45-year member of Galveston Lodge 244 Free and Accepted Masons, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, N.M.J. Indianapolis for 40 years; Murat Temple, Indianapolis, Logansport Shrine Club, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 124, Macy, York Rite of Indiana Chapter 2, Logansport Council, St. John Commandery 24, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2067, United Steel Workers of American AFL-CIO-CLC Local 2958 and Sagamore Valley York Rite College 133.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Moore and wife Teri, Logansport, Robert Moore, Kokomo, James Moore and wife Barbara, Brookston, and Russell Moore, Kokomo; one daughter, Amy Holland and husband David, Macy; mother-in-law, Mary Shuck, Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Allison, Amanda, Marcus and Timothy Moore and Natasha, Kylie, Nicholas Holland; and three brothers, Roy Moore, Illinois, Paul Moore, Utah, and Gail Moore, Florida.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster St. Chapel, 2400 S. Webster St., Kokomo, with the Rev. Patrick Bousum officiating. Burial will be at Galveston Cemetery, Galveston, with military honors.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, with a Masonic service conducted at 7:30 p.m.

Edward A. ‘Ed' Scheerer, 76
Edward A. ‘Ed' Scheerer, 76, formerly of Peru, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.
He was born on October 27, 1929 in Huntington to Wilbur and Norma (Nagel) Scheerer.
Scheerer resided in Anderson since 1991 after living in Peru most of his life.
He was an accountant and part owner of Scheerer and Hyde Public Accountants in Peru for many years.
The 1947 graduate of Peru High School served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, Phi Delts, F.O.P. and Knights of Columbus organizations in Peru. Scheerer also served on the utility board in Peru for many years.
Scheerer enjoyed sports, crossword puzzles, camping, NASCAR and playing cards. He was an avid reader and played golf. Scheerer enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was formerly active in the Democratic Party in Peru.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Locke) Scheerer, Anderson, of nearly 43 years, whom he married on July 3, 1963 in Logansport; four children, Jill Mowrey and husband Mike, Lapel, Andy Scheerer, Bloomington, Susy Meyer, Kewanna, and Cris Scheerer, Winamac; mother-in-law, Hazel Shock, Logansport; sister, Julie Leachman and husband Bill, Tampa; grandchildren, Ashley Mowrey and Tristan Mowrey, Lapel; nephews, Mike Leachman and wife Nicole, Portland, Oregon, and Craig Leachman and wife Holly, Macon, Georgia.
Scheerer was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Kristy Meyer; and son-in-law, Tony Meyer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson, with the Reverend Robert Williams of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating.
Cremation will be conducted.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Alice F. Long, 77
Alice F. Long, 77, New Waverly, passed away at 4:07 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis.
She was born on December 6, 1928 in Kokomo to Carroll and Fern (Tull) Weideman. On May 4, 1947, she married Carl N. Long in Lewisburg, and he preceded her in death on September 16, 1989.
Long retired in 1987 following 22 years of employment at W.C. Redmon Company, Peru.
She was a member of the New Waverly United Methodist Church, and was past matron and member of the Fidelity Chapter #58 Order of Eastern Star. Long was also a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, and the Amaranth.
Long is survived by a son, Curtis G. Long and wife Penny, Wabash; daughter, Pamela S. Bryan and husband Curt, Galveston; son-in-law, Fred Benner, New Waverly; three sisters, Anna Heltsley, Peru, Martha Love, and Jane Frye and husband Max, Carey, Ohio; four brothers, Ralph Weideman, Peru, Jack Edward Weideman and wife Kay, Peru, Robert A. Weideman and wife Marthagene, Peru, William Ward Weideman, Kokomo; brother-in-law, John Miller, Denver, Colorado; sister-in-law, Rosalie Weideman, Peru; Brett Bryan and wife Kristie, Logansport, Michelle Rudd and husband Chad, Flora, Amy Muday and husband Charles, Delton, Michigan, Matthew Benner and wife Amber, Flora, and Bradley Benner, Kirkland; six great-grandchildren, Brady and Baylie Bryan, Mason and Carson Rudd, Natalie Muday, and Kaden Benner; several nieces and nephews.
Aside from her parents; and husband; Long was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Benner; four sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday at Gundrum Funeral Home, with the Reverend Carl Davis officiating.
Burial will be at Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
