Emma Guthrie Armstrong
Emma Guthrie Armstrong, 88, formerly of Terre Haute died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, in her son's residence in Macon, Ga.
She was a longtime employee at the Goodie Shop Cafeteria owned by her brother and sister-in-law, George and Edna Martin.
She was born Sept. 28, 1911, in Terre Haute to Peter Weaver and Mary Weaver.
Her first husband, Clifford Guthrie, and her second husband, Frederick Armstrong, died earlier.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Barbara Guthrie of Macon, Ga.; one granddaughter, Vanessa Freville of Seneca, S.C.; one grandson, David Guthrie of Terre Haute; one great-granddaughter, Brandy Guthrie of Terre Haute; and two sisters, Malinda Joy and family of Terre Haute and Lerry Burch and family of Punta Gorda, Fla.
She and her husband Clifford Guthrie left Terre Haute in 1964 to live on Sanibel Island, Fla., where she became a highly acclaimed shell artist and received numerous awards for her works.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Terre Haute.
A memorial Mass is to be conducted at 12:05 p.m. Friday in St. Benedict's Chapel in Terre Haute.
Burial is in Punta Gorda, Fla. Kays Funeral Home in Punta Gorda assisted with arrangements.
Harlan E. Blaine
Harlan E. Blaine, 65, of Terre Haute died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 15, 2000, in Union Hospital.
He worked for C.F. Industries as a laborer.
He was born May 6, 1935, in Seelyville to Denver Blaine and Effie Hamilton Blaine.
His wife, Audrey Porter Blaine, died in 1991.
Survivors include one brother, Delbert Blaine of Terre Haute; one sister, Helen Galbraith of Terre Haute; one niece, Sherry Gillum of Terre Haute; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James R. Blaine, Don Blaine and Herbert Blaine; and one sister, Ilea Cummings.
He was an Army veteran.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday in The Callahan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Snyder officiating.
Burial is in Cottage Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Sister Imelda Therese Gutgsell, 88, of St.
Sister Imelda Therese (Clara Rose) Gutgsell Mary-of-the-Woods died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
She was a teacher. The former Clara Rose Gutgsell was born Sept. 28, 1911, in Jasper to Roman Gutgsell and Nora Gerber Gutgsell.
Survivors include one brother, Paul Gutgsell of O'Falion, Ill.; one sister, Sister Paul Marie Gutgsell of St. Mary-of-the-Woods; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Gutgsell; and one sister, Anna Mae Gutgsell Miller.
She attended St. Joseph Grade School in Jasper, St. Mary-of-the-Woods Academy at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, and received her bachelor's degree in education from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.
She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence on Feb. 14, 1929, professed First Vows Aug. 15, 1931, and Final Vows Jan. 23, 1937.
She taught in schools staffed by the Sisters of Providence in Indiana, Illinois, Massachusetts and California.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, with the Rev. Lawrence Richardt officiating.
Burial is in the Cemetery
of the Sisters of Providence.
Wake is 3 p.m. Thursday in Providence Hall, with wake service at 4:30 p.m. in the church.

Michael 'Mickey' Hargis
Michael "Mickey" Hargis, 49, of Terre Haute died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in Union Hospital.
He was retired from Stran Steel as a painter.
He was born Nov. 3, 1950, in Terre Haute to James T. Hargis and Wilma Carrithers Hargis.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Stark Hargis; one daughter, Deidra Nash of Lewisburg, Pa.; one stepson, Marc Rudisel of Terre Haute; and one grandson, Koty Nash.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a member of Harley Owners Group and ABATE.
Services are 1 p.m. Thursday in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Miller officiating.
Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Monette Hodges
Monette Hodges, 85, of Terre Haute died at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Southwood Health Care Center.
She was born Jan. 23, 1915, in Shelby, Mich., to Ralph C. Hodges Sr. and Verah G. Blann Hodges.
Survivors include one nephew, Allan Hodges; and two nieces, Erma Drake and Phyllis Kessner.
Graveside services are 10 a.m. Thursday in Westlawn Cemetery
at Prairie Creek, with the Rev. Eddie Myers officiating.
There is no visitation.

Joe Kraemer Sr.
Joe Kraemer Sr., 61, of Terre Haute died at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was retired as a supervisor from International Paper, formerly Weston Paper & Manufacturing Co.
He was born March 3, 1939, in Terre Haute to Hubert O. Kraemer and Olive McCombs Kraemer.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K. West Kraemer; two sons, Mark A. Kraemer and Marvin Joe Kraemer Jr. and his wife Tina; one daughter, Mary M. Kraemer; two brothers, Darrell Kraemer and his wife Beverly and Orval Kraemer and his wife Judy; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Krietenstein American Legion Post 104; Voiture 21, 40 & 8; Marine Corps League; and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 291.
Services are 7 p.m. Thursday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Joel Burget officiating.
Cremation will follow. Visitation is 4 p.m. until services Thursday in the funeral home.
