Rev. Celesta Marie Syfert
PARIS, Ill. - - The Rev. Celesta Marie Syfert, 97, of Paris and formerly of Villa Grove, Ill., died at 9:21 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, in Paris Community Hospital. She was born Jan. 15, 1902, in Shelby County, Ill., to George Loffland and Ada Henderson Loffland. Her husband, the Rev. Ernest Truman Syfert, died Sept. 7, 1967. Survivors include three sons, Norman Syfert, Ervin Syfert and the Rev. Paul Syfert; two daughters, Violet Hayes and Virginia Roberts; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Services are 10 a.m. CST Friday in United Pentecostal Church of Villa Grove, with the Revs. Billy Pendergrass, David Rogers, Gary Roberts and Jerry Conner officiating. Burial is in Villa Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Sutton & Son Funeral Home and one hour before services Friday in the church.
Floyd S. Creasey
Floyd S. Creasey, 93, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, in Dallas Presbyterian Hospital in Texas. He retired from Merchants National Bank after 20 years of service, then opened the Poster Parts Co. He was born June 19, 1906, in Terre Haute to Albert Creasey and Margaret Burkes Creasey. His wife, Mary Criss Creasey, died in May 1989. Survivors include one son, Floyd Eugene Creasey of Dallas; one daughter, Patricia (Todd/Bosstick) Creasey; one sister-in-law, Goldie Moseman; one brother-in-law, Charles Williams; grandchildren, Chris Creasey of Dallas, Angel Kirby of Jacksonville, Fla., Janet Neese of Lafayette, Steve Todd, Deanna Blann and Maurice K. Bosstick, all of Terre Haute, and their respective spouses, and Alila Clemmer of Tallahassee, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Denny Funk, Michelle Funk, Tracie Williams, Derek Blann, Brandon Blann, Cassidy Blann, Jessica McMullen, Doray Miller, Sarah Clemmer, Kyrstin Todd, Shane Todd, Vincent Bosstick, Nicholas Bosstick and Benjamin Bosstick; and great-great-grandchildren, Adam Snow and Clarissa Williams of Lafayette; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alila Creasey and Dorothy Petrie; one brother, Harold Clark; and great-grandchildren, Mary Ann Todd and Mike Todd. He was also employed as a messenger boy with the Terre Haute Brewery in 1918, then worked for the Terre Haute Ice Co. until 1932, and was vice president and bookkeeper of Three-B Outdoor Advertising Co. He attended the former Wiley High School and Notre Dame University, and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and Wabash Senior Citizens Center. Memorial services are 3:30 p.m. Friday in Mattox-Ryan South Seventh Street Chapel, 602 S. Seventh St., with the Rev. Bruce A. Buckley officiating. Private family graveside services are at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park. Following the services the family will gather at Anthony Square, 500 College Ave. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wabash Senior Citizens Center or Memorial United Methodist Church in Terre Haute.
Mary Elson
Mary Elson, 78, of Terre Haute died at 5:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in Harborside Healthcare. She was born Aug. 4, 1921, in Cartersville, Ill., to Arthur Evans and Maud Cobble Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Glen Elson. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Whitecotten and Sandra Tomlinson; two sons, John Patrick Evans and Glen Elson; one brother, Jack Evans; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in DeBaun Idaho Street Chapel, with the Rev. Thomas Manbeck officiating. Burial is in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Jessie J. 'Judy' Goodwin
Jessie J. "Judy" Goodwin, 78, of Terre Haute died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13, 1999, in Meadows Manor North Retirement & Convalescent Center. She was a cook. She was born April 24, 1921, in Hymera to Oscar Chesnutt and Bessie Mize Chesnutt. Survivors include her husband, Robert N. Goodwin; four daughters, Shiela DeMoss and her husband, Tom DeMoss of Mishawaka, Marilyn Kubiak of South Bend, Alice Lawson and her husband, Doug Lawson of Fort Wayne, and Paula Highsmith and her husband, Lee Highsmith of Terre Haute; one son, Harley Chalk and his wife, Gail Chalk of Michigantown; two stepdaughters, Patricia Dickerson and her husband, Carl Dickerson of West Terre Haute, and Roberta Prouse and her husband Paul Prouse of Terre Haute; one stepson, David Goodwin of Decatur, Ill.; twin sister, June Overpeck of Rockville; sister, Avis Crist of Ocala, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wilma Chesnutt and Joan Bright; and one brother, Ruel Chesnutt. She was a member of Victory Christian Church in Seelyville, a member of Church of God, American Legion Post 104 Ladies Auxiliary, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 Ladies Auxiliary. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday in Callahan Funeral Home, with the Revs. Frank Smith and Randy Ballard officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Margaret R. Price, 67, of West Terre Haute died at 2:49 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in Union Hospital. She was born Oct. 13, 1932, in West Terre Haute to Henry Huckle and Selma Mae Schultz Huckle. Survivors include one daughter, Karen Price of West Terre Haute; one son, Orville Price Jr. of West Terre Haute; two sisters, Rosemary Wilson and Dolly Wright, both of West Terre Haute; one grandson, William Scott Fleenor; and one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Fleenor. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Darlene Price; one sister, Anna Whitten; and three brothers, John Huckle, Charlie Huckle and James Huckle. Jesse McRonald "Ronnie" Batson, 55, of Terre Haute died at 6:26 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2000, in Union Hospital. He was born in Terre Haute to Jesse Batson Sr. and Lucy Wade Perchman. Survivors include a special friend, Nila Jones; his mother; two sisters, De'Sheer Harris and Darlene L. Harris, both of Terre Haute; two brothers, Forrest William Batson of Maui, Hawaii and Terry T. Batson of Terre Haute; children; grandchildren; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins; and a host of relatives and friends. Margaret A. Dickerson Dailey, 76, of Terre Haute died at 2:19 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2000, in Union Hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1924, in rural Brazil to William Robert Dickerson and Mary Nettie Nussel Dickerson. Survivors include her husband, Paul E. Dailey; three daughters, Janice E. Dailey, Mary M. Wells and Barbara A Kearschner; one son, Robert P. Dailey; one sister, Ruth Harkness; one brother, Max E. Dickerson; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Virginia Florence Ennen
Virginia Florence Ennen, 69, of Terre Haute died at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital, following a three and one-half year battle with cancer. She retired as a licensed practical nurse as a physical therapy assistant at Union Hospital and also had been employed at Western Union and Columbia Record Mailing Opening. She was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Terre Haute to Emery O. Wright and Edith Pugh Wright. Survivors include her husband, Herman C. Ennen Jr., with whom she would have celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary June 24; one son, Charles E. Ennen and his wife, Sharron Ennen; one daughter, Debbie J. Wilcox and her husband, Dan Wilcox; four grandchildren, Kellie Sue Dennis, Angela Kay Dennis, Mara Wilcox and Justin Wilcox; and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, William Wright. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Honey Creek High School, attended Indiana State University, and was a member of Faith Wesleyan Church and a former member of Terre Haute Bible Center. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Gormong officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 10 a.m. until services Saturday. Elizabeth M. Payton, 72, of Spokane, Wash., and formerly of Terre Haute died at 12:20 p.m.. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Spokane. She was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Kentucky to Ernest Patrick and Ruby Patrick. Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Payton; three sons, David Payton, Richard Payton and Michael Payton; five daughters, Mary Sedowski, Vicky Aldridge, Joyce Truxal, Debra Kerr and Teresa Kelling; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Spokane Central Seventh Day Adventist Church. Private entombment will be in Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane. Charles A. Price
Charles A. Price, 76, of Olney, Ill., and formerly of West Terre Haute died at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in his residence. He was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Terre Haute to Donald Price and Eulia Burns Price. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Skaggs Price; one son, Steve Price; one daughter, Denise Price; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorial services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney, with the Rev. David A. McNabb officiating.
Roy Lee Cloyd
ROCKVILLE - - Roy Lee Cloyd, 64, of Rockville died at 4:23 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in West Central Community Hospital in Clinton. He was born June 30, 1935, in Parke County to James Cloyd and Virginia Martin Cloyd. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Alice Swaim Cloyd; one daughter, Debbie Cloyd; one son, James Thurman Cloyd; two stepsons, Ted Bradburn and Jim Brown; one brother, Ed Cloyd; one aunt; one uncle; and five grandchildren. Cremation is scheduled. There will be a private memorial service at a later date. The family requests no visitation, flowers or cards. Butler Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Betty Guglielmetti
Betty Guglielmetti, 72, of Montezuma died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Vermillion Convalescent Center. She was a certified nurses aide, retired from Hamilton Center, and had formerly worked as a jail matron for the Vermillion County Sheriff's Department for eight years. She was born May 15, 1928, in Blanford to Paul E. Griffin and Madge Wilson Griffin. Survivors include her husband, Elmo "Danny" Guglielmetti, whom she married June 17, 1948; one daughter, Marlene Persinger and her husband, Dave Persinger; one son, Michael Guglielmetti and his wife, Darby Guglielmetti; two granddaughters, Lisa Thomas and Kasey Ralston; two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Kristi Thomas; one aunt, Lorena Turchi; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Martin Guglielmetti; and one sister, Pauline Cornwell Hiddle. She was a member of the State Line Christian Church. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2000, in Walnut Grove Chapel at Walnut Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Doug Davis officiating. Krapesh, 71, of Clinton died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2000, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, following an extended illness. He was a retired carpenter with Local 133 of Terre Haute. He was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Clinton to Andrew Krapesh and Cecelia Polenc Krapesh. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Lantz Krapesh; one daughter, Patti Krapesh of Terre Haute; one sister, Christina Bogetto of Clinton; one brother-in-law, Domenic Natale of Clinton; several nieces and nephews; and one great-niece. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 133 of Terre Haute, Clinton Veterans of Foreign Wars and Clinton American Legion. He was an Army veteran. CORY - - Renus E. Mann, 65, of Cory died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Danville, Ill. He was a retired truck driver for Gibson Co. He was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Burnett to Arthur Raymond Mann and Martha Lucille Foxworthy Mann. His wife, Shirley Curtis Mann, died earlier. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda S. Bemis of Terre Haute; two sons, Don W. of Bonita Springs, Fla. and Ken E. of Terre Haute; two grandsons, Ryan Mann and Dustin Bemis, both of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. She was born April 24, 1933, in Diamond to Thomas O. Navel and Irene Bramlett Navel. Survivors include one brother, John Thomas Navel; one sister, Jean Maxine Woodward; four nephews; and one niece. COAL CITY - - Ivan M. Padgett, 88, of Jasper died at midnight May 24, 2000, in Heritage House in Jasper. He was born Nov. 3, 1911, in Coal City to Lloyd Padgett and Etta Hubbell Padgett. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Sutton Padgett; one son, Larry Padgett; one daughter, Linda Ahern; one brother, Willard Padgett; three sisters, Louise Frump, Marcella Jones and Carole Hochstetler; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Margaret R. Thompson
MARSHALL, Ind. - - Margaret R. Thompson, 80, of Marshall died at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in her residence. She was a registered nurse. She was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Terre Haute to James D. Baker and Linnie Shipley Baker. Her husband, John Carroll Thompson, whom she married in Terre Haute in 1942, died Dec. 2, 1985. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Brook of Marshall and Peggy Sollars of Glendale, Ariz.; and six grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by six brothers; and one sister. She was a graduate of the Union Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Marshall Federated Church, Estabrook Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Hedges Chapter 51 Order of Eastern Star and was a former member of the Marshall Women's Club. JASONVILLE - - Calvin Joseph Webb, 52, of Jasonville died at 6:59 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born Jan. 26, 1948, in Pineville, Ky., to William Murphey Webb and Zona Daniel Webb. His wife, Mary Prichard Webb, died March 16, 1990. Survivors include one daughter, Laura Webb; two sisters, Frankie Thompson and Cassie Vaughn; four brothers, Oakley Webb, Rondel Webb, Larry Webb and the Rev. The Rev. Lewis Drengacs
The Rev. Lewis Drengacs, 84, of Shepardsville died at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Clinton Nursing Home, following an extended illness of two years. He and his wife pastored several churches including Second Prairie Creek Baptist Church, Friendly Grove Baptist Church, Hannah St. Baptist Church in Greencastle, Dana First Baptist for 13 years, Montezuma Independent Church and Trinity Church when needed. He was born Oct. 23, 1915, in Vermillion County to George Drengacs and Teresa Drengacs. Survivors include his wife, Doyne Pugh Drengacs, whom he married Aug. 15, 1936; one son, Bob Drengacs and his wife, Christel of Cloverdale; one daughter, Cindy Lou Drengacs of Clinton; two brothers, Jim Drengacs of Shepardsville and Joe Drengacs of Cape Coral, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Haught of Wisconsin and Julia Fleming of New Goshen; five grandchildren, Steven Lee Drengacs, Michelle Little, Tonja Froderman, Kevin Lewis Drengacs and Steven Lewis Drengacs; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
