Rev. Irvin T. King
June 24, 1919 - January 7, 2003
Rev. Irvin T. King, 84, of Lafayette, formerly of Boswell, died Tuesday, January 7, 2003, in St. Anthony's Health Care in Lafayette.
He was born June 24, 1919, in Jeffersonville; he graduated from Jeffersonville High School. He graduated from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Ky., and Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He did his doctoral work at Indiana University.
He married Harriet Martin in Georgetown. She died December 6, 2002.
Rev. King ministered at the First Baptist Church in Monon in the 1960's and moved to Boswell where he was pastor at the Boswell United Methodist Church from 1974 to 1981. He ministered in Cambridge City and Quincey. He ministered at Pine Village United Methodist Church from 1985 to 1994.
He was a member of Pine Village Masonic Lodge, past member of the Boswell Rotary Club, and Boswell Senior Citizen Club.
Surviving is a son, David (Joy) King of Lake Forest, Calif.
Herbert A. Klepinger
August 13, 1944 - May 3, 2003
Herbert A "Herb" Klepinger, 58, of Brookston died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
He was born August 13, 1944 in Lafayette, the son of Virgil A. and Velma Richardson Klepinger. He married Lynda Walter on June 26, 1965 and she survives.
He was formerly employed by Peerless Wire and had worked for over 20 years at Eli Lilly in Lafayette. He was a former Brookston Summer Baseball Coach.
He was a member of Libanus Lodge 592 F&AM, Monticello and Scottish Rite, Indianapolis.
Other survivors include two daughters, Joni (Jerry) Jones, Rockledge, FL and Jackie (Kyle) Olds, of Etters, PA. and a son, James (Alison) Klepinger of Fishers, IN.; and a stepsister Ann (Rick) George of Brookston, and his mother, Velma Klepinger Oilar of Jensen Beach, FL. He had seven grandchildren; Samuel, Emily, and Lucas Olds and Alexandra, Nicholas, Madelyn and Elania Klepinger.
His father preceded him in death.
Funeral services were today at 2:00 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.

Oscar Marquez
August 28, 1959 - May 2, 2003
Oscar Marquez, 43, of Monon, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at his residence. He had been ill for five months.
He was born at Chicago on August 28, 1959.
He was a graduate of Uvalde (Texas) High School.
He was an environmental technician.
He moved from Chicago to the White County area in 1991.
He was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church.
He was a member of Madonna Knights of Columbus of Chicago. He was a Boy Scout Leader and youth counselor.
Survivors include his parents Salvador Marquez Sr., of Uvalde, Texas, and Marta Velasquez of Chicago; a daughter, Kelly Barrett of Lafayette; sons, Anthony Marquez and David Marquez, both of Monon; the mother of his children, Linda Marquez of Buffalo; a sister Maricela Marquez of San Antonio, Texas; brothers Salvador (Martha) Marquez of Chicago, Jose (Deborah) Marquez of North Judson, Robert (Rita) Marquez of San Antonio, Texas; Hector (Carolina) Velasquez of Chicago and Marcos Marquez of Uvalde, Texas.
Services were today at Buffalo Christian Church with Pastor Greg Nydegger officiating.
Burial was in Monon Cemetery.
Wilma McClure
June 10, 1914 - December 12, 1992
Wilma McClure, 78, R.2, Wolcott, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 12, in her home.
She was born June 10, 1914, to Bill and Lavina Darnell Johnson, in Chalmers. She was married in 1936 to Oliver McClure, who died in 1984.
She graduated from Chalmers High School and in 1936 moved to Wolcott when she was married.
She was a member of the Wolcott Baptist Church and the Missionary Society of the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Foutch, Monticello; three sons, Ralph, Freeport, Ill and Richard and Ronald, both of Wolcott; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The funeral was Tuesday, in Foster Funeral Home, Wolcott, with the Rev. Jan Hobbs, officiating.
Burial was in Remington Cemetery.
Kenta Lea Adkins
August 26, 1955 - December 4, 2003
Kenta Lea Adkins, of Monon died Thursday, December 4, 2003 at her residence.
She was born in Idaville on August 26, 1955.
She was a 1973 graduate of Twin Lakes High School.
She had worked at Wal-Mart in Monticello for one month. Previously she had worked at A.P.W. and Monon Trailer in Monon for several years. She had lived in the Monon area most of her life.
She attended the Buffalo Christian Church, where she enjoyed Bible study.
She also enjoyed family vacations to Tennessee, and spending time with her grandchildren, Shadow, Destiny "Gertie" and Carlos. She also enjoyed reading.
Survivors include parents, Glen and Jill Kistler Haskell of Monticello; a son, Neal Ashton of Monticello; daughters Amy (Brannon) Westbrook of Monticello and Erica Adkins of Monon; brothers, Tony (Cathy) Logan of Monticello, Steve Logan of Hickory, N.C., and Chris (Susan) Logan of Virginia Beach, Va; sisters, Pam (Mike) Ashton of Buffalo; Vicki (Alan) Sickler of Idaville, Kim Quinn of Columbia, S.C., Beth (Ashley) Maynard of Knoxville, TN, and Jennifer (James) McNeeny of Delphi; and three grandchildren.
Her father, Russell Logan, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Monday at Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with Gregg Nydegger officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Monon Public Library.
Mildred Morehouse
December 20, 1914 - April 2, 1990
Mildred L. Cunningham Morehouse, 75, died Monday, April 2, at 12:25 a.m. in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She had been hospitalized three weeks.
Five years ago she moved from the Darlington area to Brookston, and made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Judy) Needham, 225 N. Prairie Street.
She was born Dec. 20, 1914, in Bristol, Virginia, and graduated from Newtown High School. She was married March 21, 1934, to Edward Morehouse Sr. in Lafayette. They farmed in Darlington and Lafayette areas. Mr. Morehouse died June 4,1985.
Mrs. Morehouse was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville.
Other survivors are two sons, Ronald L Morehouse, Lafayette and Edward Morehouse Jr., Crawfordsville; another daughter, Mrs. Larry (Marilyn) Sego, Bedford; a sister, Mrs. Ed (Renee) Hess, Chapel Hill, N.C.; and a brother, Bill Cunningham, Brownsburg, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral was in Hippensteel Chapel, Wednesday, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Lester Vanest officiating.
Interment was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
Sally L. Brown
April 18, 1934 - August 30, 2003
Sally L. Brown, 69, of Estero, Florida, died Saturday, August 30, 2003 in Florida.
She was born in Chicago on April 18, 1934, and was a graduate of Parker Hill High School, Chicago.
She had lived in Florida for the past 12 years.
She was a member of the Wildcat County Club, Estero, Fl., and a past member of the Olympia Fields Country Club, Olympia Fields, IL.
She is survived by her loving husband Jack G. Brown of Estero; her mother Kathryn Weiser and stepfather, Robert Weiser of Sarasota, Fl; six children, Leslie McLaughlin of Cape Coral, Kimberly Mason and her husband, Frank Martens of Ft. Lauderdale, James Mason, Jr. of Ft. Myers, Terrence L. Brown and his wife Carolyn of Olympia Fields, IL, Steven K. Brown of Chicago Heights, IL and Susan Roop of Edgewood, NM and six grandchildren.
Private remembrances were held by the family who ask that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Cr. Ft. Myers, Fl. 33908.
Hazel Flynn
January 23, 1929 - March 5, 2004
Hazel E. Flynn, 75, of Chalmers, died Friday, March 5, 2004 at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis. She had been in failing health for two years.
She was born on January 23, 1929 in Holcomb, Mo. She married Oral Flynn at Lafayette on May 14, 1947. He survives.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and her flowers.
She attended the Monticello Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Libby (Jerry) Culp and Lora "Maude" (Marvin) Walts of Brookston; a son, Daniel F. Flynn of Reynolds; a brother, Earl Parsons of Okeechobee, Fla., 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Oral E. "Fud" Flynn and Weldell R. Flynn; a granddaughter, Kayla Walts; a grandson, Jason Culp, great-grandson, Joseph Andrew Walts; three sisters and one brother are deceased.
Services were Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Esther L. Elston
October 2, 1913 - December 17, 2003
Esther L. Elston, 90, of Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Monon, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. She had been in ill health for the past year.
She was born October 2, 1913 in Monticello, the daughter of Lucien and Stella Wilson Clerget. She married Roscoe P. Elston on December 13, 1936 in Monticello. He died April 7, 1994.
She had lived in Jacksonville for the past 6 years, moving there from Sebring, Fla. She spent her summers in the Monon area.
She was a member of the Geneva Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Loretta (Melvin) Garling of Francesville, Velda (Thomas) Gunning of Indianapolis and Marjorie (David) Orr of Jacksonville.
Six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were at Kellogg Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Copeland officiating.
Burial was in Bedford Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
