Infant Brienna Nicole Wingerter was still born at White County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday.

The infant's parents are Charles Robert Lynn and Angelia Marie Brooks Wingerter of Monticello.

Maternal grandparents are Genny and Mark Allen of Monon and Jack and Scheryl Brooks of Bringhurst. Juanita White of Monon is the maternal great grandmother.

Paternal grandparents are Paul and Mary Peitz of Toledo, OH and Paternal Great Grandmother is Anna Mae Seitz of Winter Haven, FL.

Private graveside services will be held at the Chapel Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 13 with Rev. Alvin Rockney officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Cemetery.

Douglas E. Winkler

August 10, 1979 to January 7, 1999
Douglas E. Winkler, 19, of of DeSoto, MO died Thursday, January 7th at Crystal City, Mo.

He was born August 10, 1979 in Crystal City, MO, the son of William "Corky" Winkler, Jr. and step-mother Tracey Winkler of Crystal City and mother Betty (Perry) Davis & Dennis Rogers of DeSoto, Mo.

Surviving besides his parents are a sister Jennifer Lynn Winkler, Crystal City. MO; his grandparents William & Virginia Winkler, Sr. of Festus. MO.; Susie & John Cracchido. of Festus, MO; Harry & Louise Tripp, Festus and Dean & Theresa Perry of Crystal City; Carl & Leova Rogers of Festus: Great grandparents. Margaret Rhinelander of Festus, Roy Perry of Ft. Myers, Fl.; Alberta McCormick, Monon, IN along with many aunts and uncles.

The funeral was January 11, 1999 at Vineyard Funeral Home in Festus with Fr. Henry "Rico" Garavagila officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City.

William M. Wittenauer

October 1, 1920 to February 1, 1997
William M. Wittenauer, 78, 304 W. 5th St., Brookston died Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11:20 p.m. He had been ill for three years.

He was born Oct. 1, 1920, to Anthony and Leta Marko Wittenauer, in Elwood. He was married Nov. 3, 1946, to Edith C. Kochnell, in Ambia, and she survives.

He was a World War II veteran.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Interstate Sand and Gravel at Covington, and retired in 1982.

He was a member of Brookston United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Chalmers American Legion.

Survivors include a son, Steven R. Wittenauer, Cloverdale; a daughter, Susan K. Wilkerson, Rossville; a sister, Betty Cowen, Ambia and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside military funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Boswell Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Kurowski officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society and the Lafayette Visiting Nurses.

Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston was in charge of services.

Harold D. Witz

September 28, 1917 to January 6, 1989
Harold D. "Peewee" Witz, 71, Dayton; formerly of Chalmers, died Friday, Jan. 6, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been a patient three days and in failing health for one month.

He was born Sept. 28, 1917, to William and Clara Sulyter Witz, in Chalmers. He was married Nov. 12, 1938 to Iva L. Harrison, in Monticello. She survives.

He graduated from Chalmers High School in 1935 and he moved from White County to Dayton, 30 years ago.

He was a farmer and truck driver in Tippecanoe and White counties for several years. Also, he was employed for several years by National Homes in Lafayette.

He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 543 at Lafayette.

Surviving with his wife are one son, Harold .L., Frankfort; one daughter, Carol Flack, Monticello; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. One sister is deceased. The funeral was Sunday in the Dayton chapel of Soller-Baker Funeral Home, with Edgar Scaggs officiating.

Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Monticello.

Eyvonne B. Wolf

December 4, 1928 to March 12, 1995
Eyvonne B. Wolf, 66, R.1, Reynolds, died Sunday, March 12 at her residence.

She was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Lafayette, to Leon and Doris Nelson Bane. She was .married June 15, 1956, to Roger S. Wolf, in Oxford, and he survives.

She had been ill for the past six weeks. She lived in the Reynolds area for 40 years, on the same farm, and worked at the State Bank of Oxford before her marriage.

She graduated in 1948, from Oxford High School and was a 1947 graduate of the Lafayette Business College.

She was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church, the Honey Creek Homemakers Club, Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority and the Women of the Moose in Monticello.

Surviving with her husband is a son, Steven R. Wolf, Downingtown, Pa.; and a brother, Nelson Bane, Oxford. A brother is deceased.

The funeral was today at the Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, with Rev. Roy Lee officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Riverview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Alice Kathryn Wolfe

January 17, 1922 to December 29, 1999
Alice Kathryn (Martin) Wolfe, 77, of Indianapolis, a former Brookston resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Community Hospital East, Indianapolis.

She was born Jan. 17, 1922 to William and Eva Tull Martin, in Brookston.

She attended Brookston schools and was employed in home nursing until her retirement in 1985.

She was a member of Daughters of the America Council No. 84 Red Birds. Her hobby was oil painting.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Kay McCready of Salina, Kan.: two sons. Richard Alan Wolfe of Hays, Kan. and David Randall Wolfe of Edgewood, N.M.; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A son, Robert; three sisters, Doris Deardurff, Helen Lank and Josephine Morehouse; and a brother, Robert Martin are deceased.

Funeral services were today (Wednesday), at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Memorials may be given to Daughters of America Council No. 84.

John Wood Jr.

April 24, 1927 to April 11, 1997
John Nelson Wood Jr., 69, a former resident of Monon and Monticello, died Friday, April 11, 1997 in Rochester, Indiana.

He was born April 24, 1927 in Chicago, to James Nelson and Lillian Nicewander Wood.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy as a seaman second class from 1944-46.

He attended Monon schools. He worked as a truck driver for 30 years, retiring due to health. He also worked at Ross Gear.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. David (Rose) Kauffman and Tiffany Kauffman, both of Brookston; three sons, Nelson J. of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Fred V. of Lake Mary, Fla., and Christopher Kauffman of Brookston; one brother, Lloyd V. of Monticello; four sister, Grace Wolf of Lafayette, Marie Black of Idaville, Lillian Mohler, and Jo Wagner of Lee; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Two sisters and one brother are deceased.

A memorial service was held Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home for family and friends, the Rev. Mark T. Kurowski officiating.

Burial will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.

Linda (Matthews) Wood

March 22, 1947 - May 30, 2003
Linda (Matthews) Wood, 56, of Brookston, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

She was born at Lafayette on March 22, 1947, to Leonard Ivan and Leota K. Thomas Matthews. She married Larry Wood at Brookston on June 19, 1976. He survives.

She was a 1965 graduate of Brookston High School.

She was employed at Indiana Veterans Home, Purdue University (bakery) and Pet Smart, Lafayette.

She was associated with the Church of Christ at Brookston.

She loved animals and flowers.

Other survivors include a step-daughter, Jennifer Wood of Lafayette; sisters, Marcia (Warren) Bailey of Lafayette and Janet (Louis) Capper of Brookston and a step-grandson.

Funeral services were Monday, June 2, 2003 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.

Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes. Research Foundation.

Mayford H. Wood

January 9, 1914 to August 6, 1992
Mayford H. Wood, 78, Brookston, died Thursday, Aug. 6, at 9:08 p.m. at his home. He had been in failing health for three years.

He was born Jan. 9, 1914, to Ezra and Sarah M. Waddell Wood, in Clay County, Tenn. He was married March 20, 1943, to Loraine Bartley, in Monticello. She survives.

He moved to the Brookston community from Vernon, Ky., in 1929. He was employed at the former Wright's Garage in Brookston, for 14 years. He retired from the Indiana Veterans' Home in West Lafayette, Aug. 1978, after 10 years as garage supervisor.

He was a member of the Brookston Church of Christ.

Surviving with his wife are two sons; Larry, Brookston and Roger, Bowling Green, Ky.; a daughter. Cathy, Brookston; a brother, Winsford, Fowler; six grand children and one great grandchild. A brother is deceased.

The funeral was conducted Sunday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Bill Miller officiating.

Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery In Brookston.

Memorial contributions may be given to Potter Children's Home in Bowling Green, Ky.
