Dorthey Putt
February 12, 1917 - June 21, 1997
Dorthey Belle Overman Putt , died Saturday, June 21, at 8 a.m. in Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette, where she had been a resident since 1994.
She was born Feb. 12, 1917, to Charles and Olepha (Gladys) Hague Overman, in Monticello.
She was married May 1, 1937, to Loyd H. Putt, in Monticello, and he died Jan. 31, 1985.
She graduated in 1935 from Roosevelt High School, Monticello.
She lived in Monticello from 1989-94, having moved here from Brookston.
She was retired from RCA. in Monticello.
She was a member of Brookston Federated Church.
She was a former member and officer of Harmony Dance Club.
Survivors include a son, Bob Putt, Brookston; three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Loretta) Stine, Chalmers; Mrs. Roger (Gladys) VanVoorst, Monticello and Mrs. Bob (Barbara) Kirts, Brookston; a brother, Everette Overman, Lafayette; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A brother is deceased.
Funeral services were Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Gerald Stevens officiating.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery. Brookston.
Memorials may be given to Brookston Federated Church.
Robert Lloyd Putt
October 11, 1938 - November 28, 2002
Robert Lloyd Putt, 64, of Brookston died Thursday, November 28, 2002, at his residence.
He had been ill for 1 1/2 years.
He was born at Monticello on October 11, 1938, the son of Lloyd and Dorothy Overman Putt.
He attended Brookston schools.
He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1956-1958 with Battery "B", 1st Med. AA Missile Bn.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 492 of West Lafayette.
Survivors include a daughter Julie (Randy) Kitchel of Spring Lake, Mich.; companion, Michelle D. Walker of Brookston; sisters, Loretta (Jack) Stein of Chalmers, Gladys (Roger) Van Voorst of Monticello and Barbara (Bob) Kirts of Brookston; and a grandson.
A graveside service was held Monday at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
Hartzler Funeral Home was in charge.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care.
Ira B. Qualls
February 28, 1916 - September 7, 1988
Ira B. Qualls, 72, 601 Ripley St., Brookston, was dead on arrival at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Lafayette at 2:28 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, apparently of a heart attack.
He was a mechanic for 35 years and retired in 1981 from Halstead Implement in Brookston.
He was born Feb. 28, 1916, in Hustonville, Kentucky, and had lived in the Brookston area for the past 40 years.
He was married June 14, 1937, to Marjorie E. Nice, in Liberty, Kentucky. She survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Lois Marie Pickett, Battle Ground; Mrs. David (Sandra) Maas, Brookston; Mrs. William (Carolyn) Ferguson, Lafayette and Mrs. Ruby Smith, Frankfort; his mother, Mrs. Amanda Qualls, Hustonville; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Russell and Miss Elizabeth Qualls, both of Hustonville; Mrs. Charles (Patricia) Murrell, Burlington, Ky. and Mrs. Francis (Margaret) Morris, Flora. Eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
A son; Robert Eugene Qualls, 2 sisters, one grandson preceded in death.
Service was at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, at 11 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Gene Ansell officiating.
Interment was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Aylo de Quinteros
August 14, 1954 - August 31, 1992
Aylo Heike (Matteson) de Quinteros, 38, formerly of Brookston, died Aug. 31, of stroke related complications in the Methodist Mission Hospital in La Paz, Bolivia, South America, where she had been a patient.
Born Aug. 14, 1954, in Lafayette, Ind., she was a graduate of Frontier High School in Brookston in 1972.
She attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and Dickenson Business College in San Antonio, Texas, where she received an Associate Degree.
She was a Bilingual Executive Secretary for Compania Minera Del Sur in La Paz and also a private secretary for two British engineers.
She married Victor Xavier de Quinteros, Nov. 24, 1973, in La Paz, Bolivia.
Surviving are her husband, 2 sons, Christopher and Craig, and 2 daughters, Danika and Livia, her mother, Mrs. Aylo M. Matteson, and her father, Dr. Richard E. Matteson, DVM, both of Brookston, Also 4 sisters, Mrs. James (Gretchen) Brown, Annapolis, Maryland; Mrs. Charles (Inga) Spencer, Port Angeles, Washington; Mrs. Richard (Kirstan) Bliss, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Don (Elga) Merritt, Portland, Oregon, and a brother, Craig E. Matteson, Naperville, Ill.
Funeral services were held in La Paz, Sept. 1, and burial was in The Garden Cemetery
in La Paz.

Rev. William H. Radcliffe
April 17, 1951 - January 18, 1991
The Rev. William H. Radcliffe, 39, R.2, Brookston, died Thursday, Jan. 18, approximately 2 a.m. in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, after being shot Wednesday night at an interstate rest area near Lebanon.
He was born April 17, 1951, to Thomas Raymond and Gertrude Cranse Radcliffe, in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was married Nov. 30, 1974, to Karen Carlson, in Lyndhurst, Ohio, and she survives.
In 1969, he graduated from Collenwood High School, Cleveland. and received his bachelor of arts degree in telecommunications from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio; June 1973. He received his master of divinity degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, June 1979.
He also did graduate work on camping administration at George Williams College, Downers Grove, Ill.
He was ordained by the Cleveland Baptist Association (American Baptist Churches U.S.A.) Sept. 16, 1979.
He moved to Brookston from Vincennes, where he was an associate pastor from 1980-83 at the First Baptist Church there. He became pastor of Badger Grove Community Baptist Church, July 1, 1983.
He resigned Jan. 6, 1991, to become director of New Directions Court Referral Center, Lafayette.
He was a member of Badger Grove Community Baptist Church. He was the former executive director of the Mental Health Association of White County. He was president of the association and previously served two partial terms as president and three terms as treasurer.
He was past president and a current board member of White Co. Weekly Religious Education In The Schools.
He also was a past president of the Jubilee Resource Center, Lafayette and was a training consultant for the American Baptist Church of Indiana.
He was a member of the Ministers Council of the American Baptist Churches U.S.A., the White Co. Ministerial Association, Alumnis Council of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary and Tippecanoe Baptist Camp Advisory Board.
He has served on boards for the United Campus Christian Fellowship, Ministry House at Vincennes University, the Baptist Student Foundation at Purdue, of which he was a past president and the Children's Education Community for the American Baptist Churches of Indiana.
Survivors also include two sons, Matt at home and John, Kendallville; his mother of Jasper; and a half sister, Lynne Norris, Jasper.
His father and a sister are deceased.
The funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. in the Badger Grove Community Baptist Church, the Rev. Howard Ness officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of the service.
Burial was Tuesday, at 2 p.m. in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland, Ohio.

Gene Fatterson Rardon
September 18, 1929 - February 8, 2003
Gene Patterson Rardon, 73, of Brookston, died at his home on Saturday, February 8, 2003.
He had been in failing health for some time.
He was born in Lafayette to Harley and Evelyn Patterson Rardon on September 18, 1929.
He married Mary Blankman on November 28, 1953.
He was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson High School in Lafayette.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Catholic Church and had been a chef at the Knights of Columbus in Lafayette for several years during the 1960s and 1970s.
He was a member of the Lafayette Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Delphi Post of American Legion.
He formerly worked as a brake man on the Monon Railroad and worked for 20 years at University Bookstore in West Lafayette.
He lived in Brookston prior to moving to Mesa, Arizona in 1979, where he worked in office supply and archiving before retiring in 2002.
He had returned to Brookston last week.
He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, and had been a batboy for the Lafayette Red Sox semi-pro baseball team.
Other survivors include a brother James D. (Margaret) Rardon, of Lafayette; two sons, Kevin (Angie) Rardon of Temecula, Calif., and Sean Rardon, of Beaver Dam, Wisc.; two daughters, Beth (Ron) Waldburger, also of Beaver Dam, Wisc., and Lynn North and Junior Minth (companion) of Brookston and eight granddaughters and three grandsons.
There will be a private service with cremation. The family requests no flowers.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Wilma E. 'Willie' Rauer
April 24, 1920 - February 22, 2002
Wilma E. "Willie" Rauer, 81, Reynolds, died Friday, Feb. 22, at 7:37 a.m. in White County Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 24, 1920, to William and Mary Allee Koebcke, in Francesville. She was married May 26, 1950, to Stanley G. Rauer at Reynolds. He died October 14, 1972.
She was raised in the Francesville area and graduated from Francesville High School when she was 16 years old.
She had worked at Skelgas in Reynolds, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Women of the Moose, American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, all of Monticello.
Survivors include daughters, Karen Mathew and Pam Bair, both of Reynolds; a son, Fred (Lisa) Rauer, Wolcott; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Services were Monday at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan L. Ton officiating.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the White County Council on Aging or the Reynolds United Methodist Church.
