Anna Marie Dempster Martin

Anna Marie Dempster Martin, 101, of Reynolds died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at George Davis Manor in West Lafayette.
She was born in Fayette County, Iowa on February 13, 1901 to George and Effie (Moore) Dempster. She married Merle C. Martin in Springfield, S.D. on November 25, 1922. He died on April 2, 1964.
She received a teaching certificate from Normal School in Springfield, S.D., where she taught school and worked as a homemaker and also a seamstress in South Bend.
She had lived in her rural Reynolds home for 72 years until 1996, when she moved in with her daughter, Nancy, in West Lafayette. She was admitted to George Davis Manor just two months ago.
She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, playing the piano, bird watching and reading.
She was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary of Wolcott, and West Point Twp. Home Extension Club.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters: Dempster (Ruth) Martin and Merle (Nila) Martin of Reynolds; Marian Townsend of Upland; Carol (James) Schroeder of Fairfield Glade, Tenn; and Nancy Martin of West Lafayette. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Two sons, Jack E. and Eugene Hugh Martin, as well as two brothers, three sisters and three grandchildren preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Monday, April 1, 2002 at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with the Revs. Bryan Ton and Wesley Brookshire officiating. Burial was in IOOF Riverview Cemetery
in Monticello.
Memorials may be made to the Reynolds United Methodist Church.
Jeramie L.T. Martin
July 31, 1973 - April 8, 1992
Jeramie L.T. Martin, 18, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at the Jasper County Hospital, Rensselaer. He was a resident of Remington.
He attended Tri-County High School.
He was born in Brook, IN, on July 31, 1973.
Survivors include his stepfather and mother, David & Kayaleen Henry, Remington; his father, David Martin, Remington; sister, Jacinda Henry also of Remington. Maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lula M. Woods, Brookston and paternal grandparents, Ray and Mary "Jane" Porter, Wolcott.
The funeral was Monday, April 13, at Stitz Funeral Home, Remington.
Memorials may be made to Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis.
June Halsema Martin
April 19, 1921 - May 14, 2002
June Halsema Martin, 81, former Chalmers resident, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare. She had resided at the center since July 3, 1998.
She was born April 19, 1921 to Peter and Lavinia Kaufman Halsema, in Tippecanoe County. She was married April 27, 1941, to Claude P. "Yutz" Martin in Wolcott. He died December 1, 1977.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue (Larry) Oilar of Brookston; sons, Ron (Pat) Martin and Mick (Carol) Martin, both of Brookston, Claude "Pink" Martin of Monticello and Herbie (Bendy) Martin of Chalmers; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.
A brother and four sisters are deceased.
Services were Friday at 10 a.m. in the Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Jim Northcutt officiating.
Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Brookston/Chalmers EMTs.
Lorraine S. Martin
January 22, 1923 - December 21, 1996
Lorraine S. Martin, 73, West Lafayette, died Saturday, Dec. 21, at 5:11 p.m. at the home of her son Bobby in Lafayette.
She was born Jan. 22, 1923, to James Irvine and Myrtle Jeffery Gray, in Brookston. She was married Aug. 16, 1941, to Clyde Martin in Lafayette, and is surviving.
She attended Brookston schools.
She retired in 1972 from Brown Rubber in Lafayette.
She was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, Bobby L. and Bradley A. both of Lafayette; a daughter, Tammy J. Morehouse of Hilton Head, S.C.; three brothers, Layman Gray, Brookston; Lenard Gray, South Bend and Lester Gray, Lafayette; a sister, Pauline Fix, Lafayette and nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Three brothers, two sisters and a great grandchild are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Chapel, West Lafayette, with Rev. Mark T. Kurowski officiating.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Leona June Martin
June 30, 1921 - September 9, 1999
Leona June Martin, 78, Monon, died Thursday, Sept. 9, at her residence in Monon. She had been ill two years.
She was born June 30, 1921, to Orrin and Audrey Willett Clark, in Rossville, Ill. She was married April 29, 1939, to Charles "Cal" Martin in Hammond and he survives.
She was a graduate of Hammond Tech High School, Hammond
She was a homemaker and had resided in Monon for 12 years coming from Hebron.
She attended Buffalo Christian Church.
She was a member of the Monon Home Economics Club, Porter Memorial Hospital Guild of Valparaiso and the Eastern Star Lodge in Hebron.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Charles W. of Buffalo; Clifford C. of Monon and Walter J. of Rufus, Oregon; two daughters, Donna C. of Monon and Leona of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. A brother is deceased.
Funeral services were Sunday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with Frank Hicks officiating.
Burial was m Locust Grove Cemetery, Williamsport. Memorials may be given to the Yakima Indians Christian Mission, White Swan, Wash.
Ronald Martin Sr.
August 15, 1944 - January 27, 2003
Ronald G. Martin, Sr., 58, of Brookston, died Monday, January 27, 2003, at Home Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born in Lafayette on August 15, 1944, to Claude P. and June Halsema Martin. He married Patricia Short in Battle Ground on June 21, 1964. She survives.
He had lived in Brookston since September 2001, coming from Chalmers.
He was employed as a stock clerk with Alcoa in Lafayette, and had been on disability since March 2002.
He was a member of Chalmers Community Church.
He was a member of the Alcoa 25-Year Club and the United Steel Workers of America, Local 115.
Surviving with his wife are sons, Jerry G. Martin of Chalmers and Ronald G. (Gina) Martin of Brookston; brothers Claude "Pink" Martin of Monticello, Mick (Carol) Martin of Brookston and Herbie (Bendy) Martin of Chalmers; a sister, Sue (Larry) Oilar of Brookston; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was at Chalmers Cemetery.

Rosemary R. Marvin
February 19, 1917 - November 1, 1995
Rosemary R. Marvin, 78, Idaville, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 4:45 p.m. at White Co. Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 19, 1917, to George Truman and Estella Carrol Holeman, in Rockford, Ill. She was married July 28, 1934, to James D. Marvin, who died Oct. 16, 1980.
She lived most of her life in Idaville, and was a Monticello High School graduate.
She had been employed at the former Bryan Manufacturing Co. and the former MB Shoe Store, both in Monticello, for several years.
She was a member of the Idaville Church of God.
Surviving are two sons, James T., Idaville and John C., R.2, Brookston; a sister, Florence Brewer, Monticello; four grand children and seven great grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother are deceased.
The funeral was Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Rev. Alvin Rockey and Pastor Bev Brown officiating.
Burial was in Idaville Cemetery.
Gerald H. Mathew, Jr.
June 1, 1951 - January 9, 1999
Gerald H. Mathew, Jr. 47, of Cheyenne, WY, formerly of Reynolds, died Saturday, January 9, 1999 in United Medical Center West, Cheyenne, WY.
He was born June 1, 1951 in Lafayette, IN the son of Gerald H. Sr., and Marilyn Hilton Mathew who survive along with a son Derick Mathew and a daughter, Natalie Mathew both of Cheyenne.
Other survivors include a granddaughter, four sisters, Trina Zapata of Oklahoma, Teresa Onken of Michigan, Taina Fisher of Lafayette, IN and one brother Scott Mathew of Monon, IN.
He had lived in Cheyenne for 27 years.
He was a 1969 graduate of North White High School. He was a surveyor for the Wyoming State Highway Dept. for 18 years. He served in the United States Air Force.
Funeral services will be at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home in Monticello on Friday, January 15, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard E. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Riverview lOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday
