Helen Martin Lank
June 19, 1913 - February 3, 1991
Helen Martin Lank, 77, formerly of Brookston, died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 3, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette, where she was a patient for one day.
She moved from Brookston, to the Indiana Pythian Home, Lafayette, in 1986.
She was born June 19, 1913, to William M. and Eva R. Tull Martin, in Brookston. She married March 19, 1932, to Edwin Spiller Lank in Battle Ground. He died April 2, 1979.
She attended Brookston schools and the Brookston Federated Church.
She worked at the Brookston Canning Factory and the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette, In the laundry department.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin E., Lucerne and Wayne, R.2, Brookston; five daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Joann) Minniear, R.2, Monticello, Mrs. Don (Patricia) Martin, R.2, Monticello, Mrs. Phyllis Delk, R.3 Logansport, Mrs. Carolyn Dubes, Rossville, Mrs. Donald (Diannia) Cross, Brookston and Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Mansfield, St. Cloud, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Morehouse, West Lafayette and Mrs. Alice Wolfe, Indianapolis; 31 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. A brother and a sister are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday, in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Ralph Smith officiating.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery
at Brookston.
Raymond F. Lanoue
October 10, 1915 - March 6, 1991
Raymond F. Lanoue, 75, Brookston, died Wednesday, March 6, in Home Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient since Feb. 9th.
He was born Oct. 10, 1915, to Homer and Rose Deno Lanoue, in Earl Park. He was married March 25, 1940, to Clara Metzinger, in Dunnington. She survives.
For the past 11 years he had lived in Brookston. Prior to that he had lived in Rensselaer.
He was a retired farmer and factory worker.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds and a member of Catholic Order of Foresters.
Surviving with his wife, are five sons: James, Steve and Doug, all of Rensselaer, Fredrick, Remington and Gary, Warsaw; two daughters, Mrs. James (Ruth) Rafferty, Lafayette and Cathy Lanoue, Brookston; one brother, Meddie, Livingston, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Homer (Lillian) Cady, Wolcott and Mrs. William (Pricilla) Wallpe, Dunnington; 23 grand children and one great-grandson. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
The funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, with Father Bob Fosselman officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge.
Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Rensselaer.
James E. Lawson
March 12, 1912 - April 3, 1990
James E. Lawson, 78, Wood St., Brookston, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Home Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient since March 7.
He was born March 12, 1912, in Cleaton, Ky. He had resided in Brookston, the past 55 years.
He was married Aug. 26, 1935, to Marguerite Mansfield, in Lafayette. She survives.
Mr. Lawson was a janitor at the Purdue University Health Service, 15 years, retiring in 1975.
Surviving with his wife, are two sons, Dave Lawson, Lafayette, and Mike Lawson, Brookston; a daughter, Mrs. Homer (Wanda) Hutsell, Monticello; and four sisters, Lillian Breisler, Brookston, Violett Baker and Clara Lawson, both of New Albany and Faye Moore, Louisville, Ky. Also, surviving are 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. A son, Wilbur and a sister preceded him in death.
Service was Friday at 11 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Pastor Bill Glenn officiating.
Burial was in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.

Robert C. Leader
November 4, 1923 - April 16, 2000
Robert C. Leader, 76, Monticello, was dead on arrival at White County Memorial Hospital on Sunday. April 16, 2000.
He was born Nov. 4, 1923 in Urbana to Charles and Grace Banes Leader. He married Phyllis J. Haas on Dec. 28, 1947 in Round Grove. She survives.
He farmed all of his life. He also owned Leader Bin Sales in Round Grove.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands from April 1, 1945 to June 30, 1945. He also participated in the Occupation of China from Oct. 1, 1945 to April 12, 1946.
He was a member of the former Pine Grove Methodist Church
He wintered in Florida for 23 years.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Robert G. Leaders of Round Grove; a daughter, Judith Ann Leader of Palm Bay, Fla.: grandchildren Jacqui Miller, Rob Leader and Jonathon Leader; and a brother, Gene Leader of Atlanta, GA.
Two brothers and a sister are deceased.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Edna May Lear
May 6, 1905 - November 12, 1998
Edna May Lear, 93, formerly of Rensselaer and Monon, died Thursday, Nov. 12, in Miller's Merry Manor, Indianapolis.
She was born May 6, 1905, to Samuel L. and Luella B. Naugle Dismore, in Salem. She was married Feb. 16, 1922, to Abe M. Lear, in Sitka. He died May 3, 1984.
She was educated in the Washington County public schools.
She moved to Jasper County from White County in 1935 and returned in 1976 to Monon. She moved back to Rensselaer 13 years later.
She was a homemaker and had been a cook at the Jasper Co. Hospital for six years.
She was a member of the Winamac Nazarene Church.
She is survived by two sons, Herman A. of Paris, Mo. and Larry R. of Monticello; two daughters, Mary Phegley, Indianapolis, and Betty Curfman of Moline, Ill.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were Monday at Jackson Funeral Chapel, Rensselaer, with Pastor Wayne Bogue officiating.
Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rensselaer.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
Lloyd E. Lehe
October 1, 1923 - October 8, 1994
Lloyd E. Lehe, 71, Wolcott, died Saturday, Oct. 8, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette. He had been ill several months and hospitalized two weeks.
He was born Oct. 1, 1923, to Amiel and Mary Hotler Lehe, in White County. He was married Aug. 27, 1949, to Grace Martin, who survives.
He was a life resident of White County, and farmed for 40 years northeast of Wolcott, before moving to Wolcott in 1986. He graduated from Pine Township High School.
He was a member of West Side Bible Fellowship and Gideons International. He served 12 years on the Tri-County School Board.
Surviving with his wife are two sons; Mark E, Royal Palm Beach, Florida and Michael K., Wolcott; five daughters, Carol D. Goodpaster, Mechanicsville, Md.; Joyce A. Jacks, Mesa, Arizona; Melodee L. Staggers, Indianapolis; Lori E. Cochran, Indianapolis and Lisa B. Smith, Cannel; three brothers; Richard, Otterbein, Paul, Greencastle and Simon, Brookston; a sister, Grace Allen, LaGrange, Ill. and 29 grandchildren. A brother is deceased.
Services were Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Wolcott Christian Church with Warren Dunham and David Harmon officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette. The Foster Funeral Home, Wolcott, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to Gideons International.
Simon J. Lehe
November 28, 1917 - March 30, 1999
Simon J. Lehe, 81, of Brookston, died Tuesday, March 30, at Lehe Farms.
He was born Nov. 28, 1917 in Jasper County to Amiel and Mary Hotler Lehe. He was married Apnl 13, 1947 to Elizabeth Quigg, in Otterbein. She survives.
He was a resident of Brookston for 50 years.
He graduated in 1935 from Gilboa High School.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving from April of 1941 to November of 1945, in the U.S. Army Medical Detachment of the 151st Infantry, serving in the South West Pacific area.
He was a farmer at Lehe Farms Inc.
He attended the Blessed Sacrament Church in West Lafayette.
He was a director of The Farmers State Bank of Brookston.
He was a member of the John Purdue Club, Brookston American Legion Post 251 and the White Co. Farm Bureau.
He formerly served on the White Co. Hospital Board, in the Brookston Optimist Club and as a member of the Frontier School Board
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Donald, Richard and Dale, all of Brookston; a daughter Mrs. Steve (Denise) Zabilski of Pheonix, Arizona; a brother, Paul of Greencastle; a sister, Mrs. Dean (Grace) Allen of Cedar Lake and 14 grandchildren. Three brothers are deceased.
Funeral service was Thursday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Lafayette with Father David Douglas officiating Hartzler Funeral Home Brookston was in charge.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens at West Lafayette. military rites were. performed at the cemetery by the Brookston American Legion Post 251.
