Inese Lea Huber
July 29, 1947 - May 11, 1995
Inese Lea Huber, 47, of 104 W. First St., Brookston, died Thursday, May 11, at 3:10 a.m. at Home Hospital. She had been a patient there since Monday, May 8, and in failing health since last fall.
She was born in Shell Lake, Wisconsin on July 29. 1947 and came to Lafayette as a child. After living in Kentucky for two years she returned to Lafayette in 1968.
She was a graduate of Lafayette Jeff High School. She was employed at Home Hospital as a switch board operator for 18 years prior to that she had also worked at Lafayette Bank and Trust in the accounting department.
She was married to Ronald Huber on January 25, 1969 and he died Sept. 9, 1989.
She was a member of the Tippecanoe County Historical Society and had participated in The Feast of The Hunter's Moon since 1969, and a member of Baptist Bible Church at Chalmers.
Mrs. Huber was a former member of National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and was state runner-up in the women's state muzzle loading rifle shoot in 1979.
She is survived by a daughter Heather Huber at home, a son Tyson Huber at home, her mother Lola Miles of Lafayette, and 2 nephews and 2 nieces.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13 in the Hahn Chapel, Rev. Charles Fluckey officiated with interment in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Hahn Funeral Home, Lafayette, was in charge of the services.

Ronald D. Huber
July 4, 1945 - September 9, 1989
Ronald D. Huber, 44, 104 W. First St., Brookston, died Saturday, Sept. 9, at 2:50 am in a truck-train accident.
He was born July 4, 1945, to Kenneth and Audrey Huber, in Quincy. He was married Jan. 25, 1969, to Inese Lea "Leah" Miles, in Lafayette. She survives.
He was employed at Andover, Inc., Lafayette. He was a former member of the National Rifle Association, NMCRA . and the Eagles Lodge.
Surviving with the wife are a daughter, Heather and a son, Tyson, both of Brookston, mother, Audrey, Lafayette; and sister, Linda Bohlinger, West Lafayette.
Services were Tuesday at Hahn Funeral Home in Lafayette, with the Rev. Clayton Kendall and the Rev. Phillip Burket officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
William Edward Huber
June 21, 1931 - April 29, 1999
William Edward Huber, 67, of Francesville, died Thursday, April 29, in a doctor's office in Royal Center. He was born June 21, 1931, to Louis and Lena Scheller Huber, in Remington. He was married Feb. 23, 1964, to Betty Walter, in Forrest, Ill. She survives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a self-employed electrician. He also designed car wash facilities and was owner of several car wash facilities, including the one in Monon.
He had resided in Francesville for 62 years.
He was a member of Apostolic Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Brenda of Normal, Ill.; two sons, Brent William of Indianapolis and Robert of Francesville; two brothers, Eugene of Francesville and Lester of Winchester, Ky.; three sisters, Viola Schlatter of Paulding, Ohio; Alberta Stoller of Boca Raton, Florida and Lois Ann Gudeman of Francesville; and four grandchildren.
Two sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Funeral services were Monday in the Apostolic Christian Church, with the ministers of the church officiating Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home, Francesville, was in charge of the service. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
Maxine S. Huffine
[1917?] - March 6, 2003
Maxine S. Huffine, 85, retired personnel manager for a glass plant died March 6, 2003 at Munroe Regional Center in Ocala, Florida.
A native of Monon, Indiana she was the daughter of Bill and Mae Stone Sandilands. She moved to Ocala from Chicago 20 years ago. She was Presbyterian.
Her husband, Walter Huffine preceded her in death on October 9, 1995.
Her nephews, James A. Livers and Michael A. Livers, survive her, both of Loganville, Georgia.
Robert L. Huffman
March 26, 1932 - September 22, 1986
Robert Lawrence Huffman 54, an employee of Ross Gear Division of TRW, died Monday in St Elizabeth Hospital, after suffering an apparent heart attack while at work.
Born in Lafayette, March 26, 1932, he graduated from Battle Ground High School and attended Purdue University. In 1964 he moved to 104 Maples, Mobile Home Court, West Lafayette, and lived there for 22 years.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and had worked in the receiving department at Ross Gear for 31 years.
Surviving are his parents, Donald and Ruth Huffman of Brookston.
Services were today at the Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Bill Radcliffe officiating. Interment was at Grand View Cemetery, Lafayette.
Kenneth 'Sip' Hughes
September 17, 1918 - October 27, 1991
Kenneth "Sip" Hughes, 73, Chalmers, died Sunday, Oct. 27, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient since Oct. 23rd.
He was born Sept: 17, 1918, to Charles and Letitia Carroll Hughes, in Chalmers. He was married Nov. 21, 1941, to JoAnn Burks, in Brookston and she survives.
In 1936, be graduated from Chalmers High School.
He was a veteran of World War II, as a ship's cook-second class, in .the Navy.
He retired in 1978, from Fairfield Manufacturing in Lafayette, where he worked for 32 years.
He was a member of Chalmers Community Church; Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268; Libanus Lodge No. 154; F&AM, Monticello and Chalmers Civic Club.
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas H., R.2, Brookston and Kenneth E., Chalmers; two brothers, Perry "June" and Gene, both of Chalmers; two sisters, Mrs. Celia Roberts, Muncie and Mrs. Vera Ryden, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and a great grandson. Six brothers, a son, and a grandson are deceased.
The funeral was Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Loren Shuman officiating.
Graveside rites were conducted by Chalmers American Legion at Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Kody E. Hughes
May 19, 1987 - May 19, 1987
Infant Kody Edward Hughes was still born at St Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette at 8:04 a.m. on Tuesday. The baby was the son of. Kenneth E. and Gwendolyn Roy Hughes of Chalmers.
He is survived by two sisters, Amie Jo Hughes and Amber Leigh Hughes and one brother Kenneth Howard Hughes II.

Friends may call at the Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today. Services will be at the Hartzler Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Friday with Rev. Loren Shuman officiating. Burial will be in the Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Ruth Joella Hughes
August 14, 1961 - November 13, 1999
Ruth Joella Hughes, 38, Monticello, died Saturday, Nov. 13, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne from injuries sustained in a horseback riding accident.
She was born August 14, 1961, to Robert and Verla Hettinger Ward Jr., in Monticello. She was married April 8, 1989, to Kerry C. Hughes in Buffalo and he survives.
She was a 1979 graduate of North White High School and had lived in White County all of her life.
She and her husband owned Hughes Village Rental Community on U.S. 24, east of Monticello.
She was employed at Crooked Creek Trails as a certified horseback riding instructor and trail guide. She also was an employee of Monon Corp. and HPA Monon for the last six years.
She was a member of the Certified Horsemanship Association where she had received certification for being an instructor and guide.
Before getting so involved in horseback riding, she enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband; parents, Robert Ward Jr. and Verla Hettinger Stevens; son, Kristopher Hughes, and daughter Nena Hughes, both at home; grandmother, Iva Meinders, Monticello; father and mother-in law, John and Elizabeth "Midge" Mattix of Buffalo; brothers, Kevin and Kerry Ward of Monticello, James Ward of Guntersville, Alabama and Michael Ward of Medaryville; sisters, Lynn Conley of Buffalo and Mary Jarvis, Monticello; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was this morning at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home with Frank Hicks officiating.
Burial was in Buffalo Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the White County Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Shirley A. Hughes
May 23, 1938 - March 6, 2000
Shirley A. Hughes, 61, Rensselaer, died Monday, March 6, at her residence. She had been ill for a year.
She was born May 23, 1938, to Glen S. and Grace Wolfe, Holbrook, in Rensselaer. She was married Dec. 11, 1971, to Donald S. "Don" Hughes, of Rensselaer, in Kankakee, Ill. He survives.
She graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1956 and was a lifelong resident of Rensselaer.
She worked at Brands Floral and other area florists for a number of years. She was owner/operator of Circle H Western Store in Rensselaer, from 1980-84. She was also bookkeeper for Circle H Auto Parts of several years, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Rensselaer. She was a member of Circle Four of the Methodist Church Women and was chair man of the Trinity Methodist Church smorgasbord for 10 years. She was a member of Little Cousin Jasper Festival for several years. And was an avid Purdue sports fan, attending almost all home football and basketball games.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Vicki Lynn Selby Phoenix, Arizona and Julie (Gregory) Miller of Rensselaer; son, Samuel "Sam" (Rita) Hughes of Lafayette; father, Glen S. Holbrook and step-mother, Grace Heiden and stepfather Robert Heiden of Okeechobee, FL.; brother, David Lee (Sara) Holbrook of Seminole, FL; sisters, Mrs. William (Gloria) Burnworth of Williamsport and Mrs. Terry (Gracie) Wigginton of Seminole, FL; grandchildren, Abanna Lynn Riley, Maranda I. Riley, Kelsey Miller and Trenton Lee Miller, all of Rensselaer and Samantha Nichole Hughes of Lafayette.
Funeral services for a celebration of her life were Friday at Steinke Funeral Home, Rensselaer, with Pastor Bryan Siefert officiating.
Interment was in Palestine Cemetery, Wolcott.
