Robert A. Hildebrandt

May 13, 1915 - June 1, 2001
Robert A. Hildebrandt, 86, Brookston, died Friday, June 1, at 1:09 p.m. in White County Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 13, 1915, to August and Lucy Little Hildebrant, in the same Brookston residence he resided in. He was married June 19, 1958, to Esther Carter, in Monticello, and she survives.

He was a 1935 graduate of Indiana School for the Blind and took Braille, as well as radio, correspondence courses through Purdue University.

He was a member of Brookston Federated Church.

He had operated a magazine agency in his home, hosted a radio program on WBAA and gave book reviews and lectures at schools and for clubs.

An infant sister is deceased.

A memorial service for family and friends was held at 7 p.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating. Burial was in Hughes Cemetery, Monticello, at a later date.

Memorials may be given to WBAA Purdue radio or WHPL Christian radio, Lafayette.

Norvin 'Bud' Hilton Jr.

February 9, 1938 - January 11, 2000
Norvin A. "Bud" Hilton Jr., 61, of Wheatfield, the father of a county resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Porter Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, Valparaiso.

He was born Feb. 9, 1938, to Norvin A. and Nellie Lucille Stroup Hilton Sr., in Rensselaer. He was married May 25, 1963, to Jane E. Williams, in Lowell, and she survives.

He was a lifetime resident of the Wheatfield area.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean Conflict.

He was employed as a laborer for Carpenters Union Local No. 2323. He formerly worked as a crane operator at American Bridge for 27 years and at HPA Monon for six years.

He was a member of Wheatfield American Legion Post NO. 406.

Surviving with his wife are children Dawn (Blake) Chambers, Wheatfield; Raylene (Dan) Hay, DeMotte, Norvin A. "Buddy" (Dee) Hilton, Rensselaer and Shannon (Jack) Conley, Monon; 10 grandchildren, Dennis Mathew, Blisse Renae, Jamie Lee, Breeannin Lee, Jestin Michael, Cody Allen, Devin Charles, Elizabeth Johanna, Brittany Shanee and Norvin Allen (Little Bud); sisters Mary Lou (Lyle) Betz, Valparaiso, Nellie Mae Marsh and Linda Mize, both of Florida, Carol Joyce (Butch) Ptacek, DeMotte and Pamela (Tom) Hershman, Rensselaer; brothers Gordon (Betty) Hilton, Florida and Roscoe (Pat) Hilton, DeMotte.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Family Service Funeral Home, Todd-Miller chapel, DeMotte, with the Rev. John Weeks officiating. Memorial services will be by Wheatfield American Legion Post No. 406. Visitation will be Friday. 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the chapel, in DeMotte.

Burial will be in the DeMotte Cemetery.

Geneva F. Himes

October 26, 1922 - November 8, 1988
Geneva F. Hicks Himes, 77, R.2, Brookston, died at 12:21 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Home Hospital where she had been hospitalized since Sunday.

She was born Oct. 26, 1922 in Ladoga. She was married July 13, 1932 to Paul Himes, in Ladoga. He is a minister and survives. He had pastored churches in Brookston, Covington, Elkhart, Muncie and seven years in Florida, before retiring. In Nov. 1988 they returned to Brookston.

Mrs. Himes was a 1930 graduate of Ladoga High School. She was a member of Brookston Church of Christ.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Michael Himes, Crawfordsville and Philip Himes, Muncie; and one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Ellmore, Covington.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. today at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.

Service will be at 10:30 am. Friday, in the funeral home, with Bill Romans officiating.

Graveside service 2 p.m. Friday, Mt. Hope Cemetery,. Covington.

Memorials to Brookston Church of Christ.

Adeline N. Magnabosco Hiner

April 19, 1913 - April 8, 1993
A graveside service was conducted on Tuesday, April 8 for Adeline N. Magnabosco Hiner, 79, Rte. 2, Brookston, who died April 3 in Fort Myers, Florida, where she spent winters.

She was born April 19, 1913, in Clinton to James and Maria Vescovi Magnabosco. She married Raphael Lesley Hiner on April 4, 1942, and he preceded her in death.

She graduated from Clinton High School in 1932 and from Indiana University in 1936.

She was an art teacher in Indiana and California and had worked for the White County Welfare Department.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi.

Surviving are a brother Ray Magnabosco of Indianapolis; a nephew, Tony Berto of Delphi, and several nieces and nephews.

Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.

A graveside service was conducted Tuesday at Pretty Prairie Cemetery near Battle Ground with Father Richard Miller officiating.

Mabel (Eisert) Hiner

July 7, 1919 - November 5, 1999
Mabel (Eisert) Hiner, 80, died Friday, Nov. 5, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

She was born July 7, 1919, to Arthur Henry and Louise R. Anker Eisert, in Wolcott She was married Sept. 23, 1938, to Curtis "Brown" Hiner in Brookston and lie died May 24, 1991.

She graduated from Brookston High School, and resided in Chalmers for 33 years.

She and her husband owned the former Mobil Station in Chalmers.

She survived by four sons, Jerry of Brookston, Ronald of Brighton, Mich.; Bradley of Noblesville and Bruce of Chalmers; a brother, Alfred "Bud" Eisert of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Kelly and Carol Flynn, both of Chalmers; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

A granddaughter, Michelle Hiner, is deceased.

A graveside service for family and friends was held Sunday, in the Chalmers Community Cemetery with Pastor Bill Henderson officiating.

Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of the service.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Raphael Wesley Hiner

October 4, 1909 - February 12, 1990
Raphael Wesley Hiner, 80, R.2, Brookston, died Feb. 12, at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, Florida.

He was born Oct. 4, 1909, to Curtis 0. and Daisy V. Brown Hiner, in Brookston. He was married April 4, 1942. to Adeline Magnabosco, who survives.

He graduated from Brookston High School in 1927, and attended Tn-State University in Angola.

lie worked in the Extrusion Department at Alcoa in Lafayette, for 17½ years and for Department of Trans Am, District 3, Marysville, California. He lived in Yuba City, California.

He was a member of California Retirees, Libanus Lodge and of Masonic Lodge F&AM in Monticello.

He was a member of the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Delphi American Legion posts.

Other survivors are two brothers, Curtis Brown Hiner, Chalmers and Jewell Hiner, Steelsville, Illinois.

His body was cremated. There will be a military memorial service in April. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of arrangements.

Bill E. Hines

October 18, 1946 - December 18, 2002
Bill E. Hines, 56, of Polson, Mont., a former Brookston resident, died December 18, 2002, in a traffic accident near Clinton, Mont.

He was born on Oct. 18, 1946 in Lafayette, to James Curtis and Vera May Suiters Hines.

He was a 1964 graduate of Brookston High School. He received his bachelor's degree in aviation in 1970 from Purdue University, and earned his master's degree in business from the University of Arkansas in 1977.

He lived in Montana for the past 12 years.

He was employed as an implement dealer.

Surviving with his parents, of Battle Ground, are daughters, Julie (Rich) Ezell of Farmington, Ark., and Sara (Doug) Dawson of Lawrence, Kan.; brother, Bob Hines of Brookston; sisters, Betty (Steven) Kitchel, of Logansport and Barbara (Ted) Dieterle of Lafayette; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with Dr. John Walls officiating.

Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.

Memorials may be made to the Dayton United Methodist Church.

Dorthy Ann Hinshaw

May 10, 1933 - September 11, 1999
Dorthy Ann Hinshaw, 66. of Monticello, died Saturday, Sept. 11, at Home Hospital, Lafayette.

She was born May 10, 1933, to Simon and Alma Thurston Cahill, in Indianapolis. She was married June 21, 1953, to Willis E. "Cotton" Hinshaw, in Monticello.

She grew up in the Monticello area and graduated from Monticello High School in 1951. She then lived in Indianapolis for 12 years and Cocoa, Florida for 30 years before returning to Monticello in 1997.

In Indianapolis she worked at RCA and then P.R. Mallary. She also worked at the White Co. License branch prior to moving to Florida.

In Florida, she worked at the Brevard Co. Community College from 1967 to 1977, where she was a secretary for Dr. Waggnor in the Police Academy. She worked at Brinks Inc. from 1977 to 1980. She then became office manager of the Brevard Co. Police Benevolent Association until her retirement in 1996.

She was very active in Little League and Babe Ruth while her twin sons were growing up.

She is survived by her husband; sons, Richard and Madel Hinshaw and Roger and Patsy Hinshaw of Columbus, Miss.: sisters Mrs. William R. "Lola" Hinshaw of Monticello and Mrs. Richard "Nancy" MacRae of Cocoa, Florida; mother-in-law Nellie Hinshaw of Monticello; seven grandchildren; a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello, with the Rev. Tom Bennett officiating.

Burial was in the Hughes Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
