Sarah Kay Allen, 30, R.1, Brookston, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.
She was born May 10, 1962, in Michigan City. She was married Aug. 5, 1990, to John Paul Allen in Monon, and he survives.
She attended Twin Lakes High School.
She lived in Brookston for two years, prior to that she lived in Reynolds.
She was a homemaker. She had worked at Rubbermaid in Reynolds, for four years until the plant closed.
Survivors include two sons, Joshua D. Cottrell and Terry 0. Cottrell, both at home; her father, Kenneth 0. Walker, New Buffalo, Mich; her mother, Helen R. Olson Walker, Brookston; maternal grandmother, Birdie Olson, Michigan City; five brothers, Wally Walker, Washington state, Kenneth Walker Sr., New Jersey; John Walker, Oxford, Michael Walker, Lafayette and Patrick Walker, Kentucky, two sisters, Patricia McEwan, Westville and Diane Poggi, Virginia.
The funeral was Sunday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. Roy Lee officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Cemetery.
Harry Bartlett, Jr.
May 19, 1919 - March 1, 2003
Harry Bartlett, Jr., 83, of Brookston died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Rosewalk Village, Lafayette.
He was born May 19, 1919 at Brookston to Harry G. and Catherine Welker Bartlett.
He married Margene V. Saltwell on February 16, 1945 at Brookston. She died on August 16, 1997.
He was a farmer before retiring in 2001.
Survivors include a son, Tommy L. (Ramona) Bartlett; a daughter, Sandra K. (Eugene) Clawson; and a grandson, Jeremy Bartlett, all of Brookston.
Two brothers, Wilson and Kenneth Bartlett, and a son, Dennis Bartlett are deceased.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was at Brookston I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Dennis L. Bartlett Scholarship Fund.
Ralph B. Breckenridge
May 22, 1920 - December 21, 2002
Ralph B. Breckenridge of Kissimmee, Florida, died Dec. 21, 2002. Mr. Breckenridge was a retired insurance executive for Sentry Insurance.
He was born May 22, 1920, to Walter B. and Bernice K. Breckenridge of Brookston, Indiana.
He moved to Central Florida in 1952, from Milwaukee.
He was a member of Kissimmee First United Methodist Church; Army Air Force Veteran of WWII; American Legion Post 19, Orlando; China-Burma India Veterans Aso/ssoc.; 50 year Gold Award of Libanus Lodge #54, Indiana Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, Wabash College and member of Friends of Bill W.
Survivors are wife Verna, a daughter Constance Hogg, Colorado; and a son, Richard Breckenridge of Orlando. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to FUM Children's Home, P.O. Box 6299, Daytona, FL 32728 or Good Samaritan Village Endowment Fund, Kissimmee, FL 34746.
Services were held in the Carey Hand-Cox-Parker Funeral Home, in Winter Park, Florida.
Minnie Lee Wright Kerfoot Brown
November 30, 1928 - March 30, 2003
Minnie Lee Wright Kerfoot Brown, 74, of 1205 N. 14th St., Lafayette, and a former Brookston resident, died Sunday, March 30, 2003 at St. Anthony's Healthcare in Lafayette. She had been a resident at St. Anthony since July 1995.
She was born November 30, 1928 in Hardin County Kentucky, the daughter of Blanford and Rosie Brown Martin.
She graduated from Howe Valley High School in Kentucky in 1946 and moved to Brookston that same year. She attended Beauty College.
She worked at Jessup Paper Box in Brookston, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette and retired from Duncan Meter in 1986 after working there for 11 years.
She attended Congress Street United Methodist Church in Lafayette.
Her first marriage was to Melvin H. Kerfoot, Jr. in 1946 and ihey were divorced. She then married James Brown and he preceded her in death.
Survivors are a daughter, Janie VanMeter, of Lafayette and three sons; Melvin (Andrea) Kerfoot III of Ft. Wayne, Rex (Deb) Kerfoot of Sumter, S.C. and Kendall (Amy) Kerfoot, of Lafayette and one brother Eschol E. Martin, of Elizabethtown, KY. Ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral Services were today at Hartzler Funeral Home with Rev. Jan Dimick officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be made to Activities Fund at St. Anthony Healthcare.
Zola Kercher Brown
June 12, 1929 - November 26, 2002
Zola Kercher Brown, 73, West Lafayette died Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Home Hospital in Lafayette. She had been hospitalized since November 4, 2002.
She was born June 12, 1929 in LaPorte County, the daughter of Martin and Goldie Keever Kercher.
She graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1947.
She married Lawrence A. Brown on May 12, 1948 and be survives along with two daughters Janice (Steve) Zarse of Brookston and Joyce (David) Roell of Indianapolis; and one son, Mike Brown of Lafayette; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Her parents, two brothers and a sister are deceased.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds, Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Brookston and Pleasant Grove Grange, West Lafayette.
Funeral services were Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds with Father David Buckles officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home was in charge.
Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be made to Masses or Lupus Foundation.
Wilbur Brummett Jr.
July 29. 1933 to Feb. 19, 1995
Wilbur Brummett Jr., 61, Latayette. died Sunday. Feb. 19, in Home Hospital emergency room.
He was born July 29. 1933 in Stockwell. He married Sharon L. McCalment in 1971 in Crawfordsville, and she survives. He was a lifelong resident of Tippecanoe County. He served in the Army during the
Korean War, where he received the Good Conduct, Korean Service, United Nations and National Defense medals. He was employed as a mechanic for Firestone Auto Sales, retiring 5 years ago on disability. He was a member of the Stockwell United Methodist Church.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Sherry Carpenter of Colfax and Brenda Conner of Lafayette; a son, James R. Leep of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. James (Maxine) McGlothlin of Brookston, and Mrs. George (Marlene) Russell of Lafayette; a brother, Robert Brummett of Stockwell; and 4 grandchildren. A brother, Jerry Joe Brummett, is deceased.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Seller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, the Rev. Mark Hill and Mary Foxworthy officiated. Interment was in Tippecanoe Memory Garden with American Legion graveside rites.
Susan Buonodono
November 2, 1950 - January 14, 2003
Susan Helen Cain Buonodono, 52, of Burlington, Mich., died Tuesday January 14, 2003, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
She was born on November 2, 1950, in Lafayette, to Stephen L. and Helen L. Murphy Cain. She married David Buonodono in July 1991. He survives.
She graduated from Tri-County High School in 1977.
She worked as an account planner since 1994 at Hi-Lex Corporation in Battle Creek.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Laura (David) Leonard of Wolcott; son, Billy Stearns of Wolcott; one granddaughter, Helena Leonard of Wolcott; brothers, Pat (Janet) Murphy of Longboat Key, Fla., Jack (Kathy) Cain of Hixon, Tenn., and Steve Cain of Brookston; sister, Nancy (Bob) Pender of Orlando, Fla., and father Steve (Jean Duncan) Cain of Brookston.
Her mother and a brother, Mick Cain are deceased.
Funeral services were at the Shaw Funeral Home in Battle Creek, Mich., with Pastor Dan L. Martineau officiating.
Burial was at Newton Cemetery.
Charles "Charlie" Albert Burgess, Ill
[1936?] - March 26, 2003
Char1es "Charlie" Albert Burgess, III, 66 of Indianapolis, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003.
He was a graduate of Indiana State University and also a former member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a follower of our Lord Jesus cleverly disguised as a music teacher in Monon/North White School Corporation. He was also a music teacher at Garfield High School in Terre Haute. He was also employed at Western Electric, and was a bus dtiver for IPS. He was a member of AFSCME, Faith United Methodist Church, and a life member of Sinfonia Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity.
He is survived by his wife Jerilynn "Jeri" (Richardson) Burgess; a son, George D. (Carla) Burgess; a daughter, Lori E. (Greg) Ruble; a brother, I. Duane (Mary) Burgess; sisters Y. Pat Scott and Nancy Marie Burgess, sister-in-law Mildred Burgess, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Chester W. Burgess and his mother Elsie D. (Sims) Burgess, a brother, Chester W. Burgess, Jr.; sisters Beatrice Burgess and Elsie Veagle.
Funeral Services were Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Faith United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, with Shirley Brothers Mortuary in charge.
Burial was at Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem, IN.

Gwendolyn Sue Burget

Gwendolyn Sue Burget, 51, of Remington died in an automobile accident on Friday night, February 7, 2003. She was a former Monon resident.
She was born in Francesville on January 31, 1952, to Donald and Mary Anne Burget.
She graduated from North White High School in 1972.
She worked at Remington Truck Plaza, Remington, and also had worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken, Remington.
She attended Milroy Community Church, Rensselaer.
Surviving with her father are step mother Dorothy Westerhouse Burget, of Monticello, step-father Kenneth L. Boze, of Monon; sisters Barbara Pine of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Kathy Stimely of Lewis Town, Pa.; half-sisters, Connie Baullosa, of Monticello; half-brothers Charles Burget of Monticello and Ryan Burget of Indianapolis.
A Memorial Service was Tuesday at Monon First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Birch officiating.
Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon was in charge.
