Billy Nolan

March 24, 1924 - November 8, 1992
William W. "Billy" Nolan, 71, Indianapolis, formerly of Brookston, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 12:30 a.m. in Meridian Medical Center, Indianapolis. He had been a patient there for the last two weeks. -

He was born March 24, 1924, to William Nolan and Bess Moore Nolan Victor, in Logansport.

He moved to Indianapolis, Jan. 1990, to live in a group home. Prior to that he lived in Ft. Wayne Developmental Center and at Williamsport and Cynthiana.

Survivors include a cousin, Mrs. Ardys Reed, Mexico, Ind.

The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Lore Blinn Gibson officiating.

Burial was at Chalmers Community Cemetery.

James J. Odell

September 23, 1912 - January 23, 1998
James J. Odell, 85, formerly of Chalmers, died Friday, Jan. 23, at Home Hospital Extended Care Unit, Lafayette.

He was born Sept. 23, 1912, to James W. and Susie Nace Odell, in Chalmers. He was married Feb. 6, 1944, to Merle Lucille Kirkpatrick, in Delphi and she is deceased.

He graduated from Chalmers High School in 1930.

He retired in 1992, from farming.

He was a member of Brookston Federated Church.

Survivors include a son, Kirk of Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Alice) Victor, Kokomo and Margaret Odell, Monticello; six grandchildren and a great grandchild.

A sister is deceased.

Funeral services were Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Brookston Federated Church or CDC of White County.

Luella A. Flynn Park

July 27, 1930 - January 7, 2000
Luella A. Flynn Park, 69, former Brookston resident, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Heritage Healthcare. West Lafayette.

She was born July 27, 1930, to Clifford and Orpha Hicks Flynn, in Chalmers.

She worked at Essex Wire, Lafayette and retired from Purdue housekeeping in 1987.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry and Donella Carter, Brookston; sons, Bradley Park, Goshen and DudIey Park, Lebanon; brother, Max E. Flynn, Monticello; sister, Mrs. Paul (Dana) Bunnell, Monticello and nine grandchildren.

Funeral service was Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the donor's favorite charity.

Jeffrey L.Quade

March 3, 1958 - July 9, 1994
Jeffrey L. Quade, 36, formerly of Monon, died Saturday, July 9, at his residence in Houston, TX. He had been in failing health for three months.

He was born March 3. 1958 in Monticello to Harry 0. and Lucille M. Seymour Quade, who reside in Monon.

He was a 1976 graduate of North White High School and a 1980 graduate of Ball State University where he graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

He had lived in New Orleans, LA, for 10 years. In 1990, he moved to Houston where he was employed as a corporate accountant with Shell Oil Co. He recently was recognized by the company with the Champion of Quality and Excellence Award.

Surviving with his parents is one brother, Gary Quade of Brookston. Another brother is deceased.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 15, in Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, the Rev. Roy Lee officiated.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Monon Town and Township Public Library and the Monon First Response Team.

Opal M. Qualkenbush

August 7, 1903 - September 30, 2001
Opal M. Qualkenbush, 98, a former Monon resident, died Sunday, Sept. 30, at 9:30 a.m. in Greenwood Village South, Greenwood. She had been ill for two months.

She was born Aug. 7, 1903, near Buffalo, to Alfred and Jane Shell Hughes. She was married Aug. 15, 1921, to Raymond L. Qualkenbush, in Monon. He died in 1967.

She moved in 1997 to Greenwood, after living in the Monon community for most of her life.

She was a member of Monon United Methodist Church.

She was active in the Monon community and worked in restaurants, grocery stores, as a receptionist in the dental office and at the hardware store. From 1945-48, she owned and operated the former South Side Cafe, which was open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to accommodate railroaders and travelers.

She was well known in the community for her knitting, crocheting and candy-making creations.

She was a member of the Monon Current Literature Club and was a past member of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, M.L. "Gabby" Qualkenbush of Sun City Center, Florida; a daughter, Ilene Q. Younger, of Greenwood; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

A son, Lewis J. Qualkenbush, who died in 1985, five brothers and a sister are deceased.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday. at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Monon United Methodist Church with Pastor Matthew Pickut officiating.

Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Memorials may be made to Monon United Methodist Church, Box 587, Monon, IN 47959.

Marie Quasebarth

August 4, 1912 - March 12, 2000
Marie "Granny" Quasebarth, 87, of Monon, died Sunday, March 12, at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center. She had resided there since September 1998.

She was born August 4, 1912, to William and Mary Emmaline Rodruck Walls, in Jasper County. She was married February 24, 1930, to Howard Ernest Quasebarth, in Kokomo. He died October 14, 1958.

She retired from Per-Pak Corp in Brook in 1985.

She was a member of Monon Community Church, and of the Mizpah Chapter in Monon. She was a 50-year member of the Rebecca Lodge.

She is survived by daughters, Beverly J. Ferrell, Monticello and Linda L. Fletcher, Monon; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Two daughters, five brothers and a great granddaughter are deceased.

Funeral service was at 11 a.m. today, at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. Don Newman officiating.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Memorials may be given to Monon Community Church or Monon First Responders.

Willie R. Raines

May 4, 1896 - June 16, 1987
Willie Roy Raines, 91, 323 E. Madison St., Delphi, died Friday, June 16, in Home Hospital. Lafayette. He had been hospitalized since Wednesday.

Born May 4, 1896, in Celina, Tenn., he lived in Chalmers and Buck Creek before moving to Delphi.

He was married to Della Spear, in 1925, who died March 15,1958.

Mr. Raines was a retired farmer, an Army veteran of World War I, and a member of Elmwood Church of Christ in Lafayette.

Surviving are two sons, Max and Wilford Raines; and a daughter, Miss Alma Raines, all of Delphi; and two sisters, Mrs. Vera Brown, Indianapolis and Mrs. Anna Long, Greenwood. A daughter, Miss Zelma Raines died May 2nd.

Service was Monday at 2 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.

Interment was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Lee Wayne Reinholt

July 22, 1936 - January 26, 1993
Lee Wayne Reinbolt, 58, R.1, Monon, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 5:40 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, following an extended illness. He had been hospitalized two weeks.

He was born July 22,1936, to Carl Henry and Mildred Maddock Reinholt Welch, in Monterey, Ind. He was married Feb. 22, 1957, to Dorothy Porteau, in Oakdale, Louisiana. She survives along with his step-father, Corly Welch of Ashville, Ohio.

Other survivors include a son, and his wife Susan Reinholt, Reynolds; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Sharon) Hartwell, Monon and Lee Ann Reinholt, Lafayette.

Also surviving are five sisters; Joan Daughtery, Lowell; Janet Fouet and Glenda Roberts, both of Ashville, Ohio; Peg Hagnie, Rigby, Idaho and Charlotte Salyer, South Bend; one brother, Jim Reinholt, Syracuse, Ind. He had four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

A graduate of Monterey High School, he served in the U.S. Army and was retired from the Operating Engineers Local 103. He also was a retired farmer.

He had lived in the community most of his life.

Funeral services will be at the Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, Friday, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Roy Lee and Rev. Don Newman officiating.

Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. today.
