Janet Ann Marion

Janet Ann Marion, 41, of Logansport died Monday, May 13, 2002 at 3:30 a.m. in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Tippecanoe County, August 14, 1960, to Robert William and Martha Ann Dirks Marion.
Survivors include her father, Robert W. (Leah) Marion, Monon; mother, Martha Marion, Royal Center; a brother, Wesley Samuel (Cindy) Marion of Bloomington; sisters, Kathleen Marie (Jim) Risk, Lafayette; Marjorie Ellen (Chuck) Worrell of Carmel and Mary Frances (Rick) Wireman of Wheatfield and maternal grandmother, Leticia Huff of Royal Center.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello. Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Birch officiating
Burial will be in the Buffalo Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Camelot Care Center, Logansport.
Hugh Martin
December 7, 1928 - December 22, 1999
Hugh Martin, 71, of Lafayette, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
He was born Dec. 7, 1928, to Merle and Anna Dempster Martin, in Reynolds. He was married May 11, 1952, to Jo Ann Wann. She died Oct. 23, 1996. He then married Jo Brandt of Chalmers. Sept. 3, 199. She survives.
He graduated from Chalmers High School in 1946 and from Purdue University in 1950, with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
He was a veteran of the
Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army Signal corps as a corporal, stationed at Ft. Monmouth, N.J. from 1950-56.
He was an electrical engineer with General Electric in Fort Wayne, retiring in 1990, after 38 years.
He lived in Fort Wayne from 1962 until moving in 1999 to Lafayette.
He was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne.
He was a member of Chalmers American Legion Post 268, General Electric Quarter Century Club, General Electric Elfun Society, Study Connection and Investment Research Association. He was a registered Professional engineer in the states of Indiana and Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Jack Daniel Martin, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Steven Jay Martin, Indianapolis; daughter, Mrs. Tom (Kay) Renner, West Lafayette; brothers, Dempster Martin and Merle Martin, both of Reynolds; sisters. Marian Townsend of Upland, Mrs. Jim (Carol) Schroeder of Reynolds and Nancy Martin of West Lafayette; his mother, Anna Martin, West Lafayette; and four grandchildren, Nicholas Martin and Adam, Hannah and Jack Renner.
His father and a brother, Jack are deceased
Funeral services were Monday at Chalmers Community Church with Pastor Bill Henderson and the Rev. Curt Sylvester officiating.
Burial with American Legion Post 268 military service was at Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
Sharon McDermitt
January 16, 1940 - May 13, 1998
Sharon (Sterner) Ritchie McDermitt, 58, Battle Ground, died Friday, May 15, at 3 p.m. in her home.
She had been ill for three months.
She was born Jan. 16, 1940, to Charles and Geraldine Hughes Sterner, in Chalmers. She was married Dec. 7, 1991, to Philip McDermitt, at the Indiana. Veteran's Home chapel arid he survives.
She lived in the area all her life. She lived in Peru for 10 from 1958-68.
She was a 1958 graduate of Chalmers High School..
She had worked at Duncan Electric Landis and Gyr since 1978 and at present on sick leave.
She was a member of Chalmers Community Church and Local Industrial Union No. 812.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, Wayne Ritchie, Lafayette and Scott Ritchie, West Lafayette; two daughters, Ms Robin Meacham, Battle Ground and Mrs. Jeffrey (Shannon) Werner, Chalmers; a step-daughter, Loni McDerniitt, Lafayette; a step-son, Michael McDermitt, Lafayette; a sister, Nancy Loveall, Lafayette and seven grandchildren.
Two sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.
Burial was in Chalmers community Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Roy E. Medley
July 11, 1910 - February 13, 1992
Roy E. Medley, 81, Brookston, died Feb. 13, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been a patient since Jan. 21 and had been in failing health for several years.
He was born July 11, 1910, to William and Katie Cole. Medley, near Delphi. He was married Feb. 16, 1945, to Lola Confer, in Rensselaer, and she survives.
In 1971, he moved from Lafayette, to Brookston and was a retired farmer, heavy equipment operator and diesel mechanic. He worked with farm machinery, also.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joan Swambarger, Logansport; five sons, Bill, St. Joseph, Mo.; Wayne, Burnettsville; Jerry, Holly, Mich.; Gary, Booneville, Miss.; and Rick, Brookston; 18 grandchildren; a brother, Bob, Clarks Hill; four sisters, Mrs. Nellie Hinshaw, Monticello; Mrs. Mildred Livengood, Bastrop, Texas; Mrs. Helena Byers, West Point and Mrs. Emmy Leeman, Logansport; 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Three sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.
The funeral was Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Bob Medley officiating.
Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Charles 'Bud' Monnett
September 5, 1924 - April 14, 2001
Charles Wayne "Bud" Monnett, 76, Monticello, died Saturday, April 14, in White County Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for several years and a patient at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare for three weeks.
He was born Sept. 5, 1924, to Charles and Blanche Roudebush Monnett, in Elkhart County. He was married Sept. 29, 1945, to Jean Schwartz in Monticello, and she survives.
He attended Reynolds schools.
He retired from farming in December 1987.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Penny Ann (Bryan) Foulks and Dianna (John) Bailey, both of Monticello; a brother, Dick Monnett of Monticello; a sister, Dorothy Hoover of Wabash; and two grandchildren.
A brother, William Monnett is deceased.
Funeral services were today at 10 a.m. in the Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Jan Dimick officiating.
Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Harry J. Montag
June 4, 1909 - January 28, 2000
Harry J. Montag, 90 of Aurora, died Friday, January 28, at Provena McAuley Manor in Aurora.
He was born June 4, 1909, in LaPorte County, Ind., the son of John C. and Anna (Gross) Montag.
He retired after 35 years with Sinclair Oil Co. as a Chemical Engineer. Mr. Montag began in the Masonic Order at the Bradford Lodge #592, in Monon. He was a member of the Mercedes Lodge #1010 F&AM and the AL Amin Temple of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Mr. Montag is survived by his daughter, Nancy Ammer of Geneva and his granddaughter, Audra (Michael) Harrington of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by three wives, Ruth Montag, Thelma Montag, and Maxine Montag; a brother, William Montag and his son-in-law, Fred Ammer on October 21, 1998.
A Masonic graveside service was held Monday, January 31st at the Bedford Cemetery
in Monon.
Arrangements were by the Norris Funeral Home, St. Charles.
Edward J. Nelson
June 4, 1914 - November 26, 1994
Edward J. Nelson, 80, Lafayette, died Saturday night at Murdock Manor, Lafayette, where he has resided since October 15, 1993.
He was born June 4, 1914 in Wellington, IL to A.D. "Archie" and Maude Haye Nelson. He married Grace Barrett in Wolcott on August 13, 1938, and she survives.
He retired in 1981 with a health disability from MATT-SON Inc. where he was a warehouse supervisor. He lived in Lafayette since 1984, moving there from Hanover Park, IL. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1933 and attended business school. He was a member of the Greenbush Street Baptist Church, Lafayette.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Edward J. Nelson Jr., Corning, IA, and Robert Lee Nelson, Westville, IL; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Peggy) Pence, Boswell, and Laverna Nelson, Lafayette; one brother, Archie Nelson of Oilman, IL; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, Pastor James Chase officiated.
Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Greenbush Street Baptist Church.
Mary 'Peggy' Nicholson
November 23, 1919 - April 27, 2001
Mary "Peggy" Townsley Nicholson, 81, West Lafayette, a former Chalmers resident, died Friday, April 27, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
She was born Nov. 23, 1919, to Earl and Rheta Blanche Ellis Townsley in Lafayette. She was married Aug. 9, 1941, to Truman Nicholson in Chalmers. and he survives.
She graduated in 1938 from Chalmers High School.
She returned to school when she was 40 years old and received her bachelor of science degree from Ball State Teachers College in 1960. She received her master's degree from Indiana University in 1965.
She worked as a first grade teacher for 22 years in the Delphi Community School Corp. and retired in 1982.
She was a member of Chalmers Community Church, where she was a member of the choir and WCF.
She was past president of Kappa Kappa Sigma (Chalmers) Sorority, Beta Chapter.
She was also a member of Arackne and Edgewood Club, Lafayette.
Her hobby was scherenschnitte (paper cutting). She taught a class on scherenschnitte at Westminster Village, West Lafayette, where she resided after moving from Chalmers.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Darlene Lenz of Cedar Lake; a sister, Julia Marie Vanderkok, West Lafayette; and two grandchildren, Wayne and Julia Jackman. A brother, John Wesley Townsley is deceased.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Revs Bill Henderson and Gerald Stevens officiating.
Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Chalmers Community Church Elevator Fund.
