William W. Fitzgerald II

William W. Fitzgerald II, 79, of Lafayette, a former Brookston resident, died Tuesday, April 4, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
He was born Jan. 4, 1921, to William W. and Florence Herdman Fitzgerald, in Brookston.
He lived in Lafayette since 1965 and had also resided in Brookston and Indianapolis.
He graduated in 1939 from Brookston High School. He studied hairdressing in Indianapolis, Paris and Rome..
He was the owner/operator of the House of Fitzgerald in Lafayette. retiring in 1997 after 50 years of hairdressing. The opening of the House of Fitzgerald was featured in the 1964 issue of Hairdressers Monthly Magazine.
He attended the United Methodist Church in Brookston.
He was a member of Wabash Valley Trust for Historic Preservation; Long Center; Tippecanoe Co. Historical Association; and he enjoyed playing the piano.
Surviving are a brother, Robert E. Fitzgerald, of Peru; a sister, Mrs. Paul (Aletha) Bailey of Brookston and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers and three sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were Friday at the United Methodist Church in Brookston, with the Rev. Jan Dimmick officiating. Hahn Funeral Home, Lafayette, was in charge of the service.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be given to the Humane Society or the Diabetes. Association.
Judith A. Fleck
November 14, 1936 - August 13, 1997
Judith A. Fleck, Monticello, died Wednesday, August 13 at Riverview Hospital, Nobelsville.
She was born in Gary, Nov. 14, 1936, to Harry and Margurite Hoffman Jackson. She married Dean Fleck, Feb. 13, 1955, in Wolcott, and he survives.
She was a lifelong resident of White County. She graduated from Wolcott High School in 1954.
She taught piano lessons for several years. She was a secretary for Nemo Guest Ranch, Dirk and Dad Trucking and Fleck Farms Inc.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Reynolds.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Dirk E., Reynolds; four daughters, Susan B. Wantz, Indianapolis; Nancy D. Barbour, Chalmers; Jenny A. Fleck, Indianapolis and Beate McDonald, Maryland; a brother, William Jackson, Kokomo; a sister, Joyce Cantlon, Wolcott; and 10 grand children.
A brother is deceased.
Funeral services were at the United Methodist Church, Reynolds, Saturday, Aug. 16, with Pastor Anne Girton officiating.
Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of the service.
Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds.

Melvin A. Florence
September 1, 1952 - June 2, 2000
Melvin A. Florence, 47, of Rensselaer died Saturday, June 2, 2000 at Home Hospital in Lafayette. He had been ill for 5 1/2 years.
He was born September 1, 1952 in Rensselaer, the son of Melvin Lloyd and Adalyn (Schultz) Florence. He had lived in Rensselaer all his life except for 5 years in Monon.
He graduated from Rensselaer Central High School in 1972 and married Cynthia "Cindy" Degroot on March 19, 1988. She survives along with one son, Paul Michael Florence of Logansport and two daughters, Debra Ann Florence of Logansport and Megan Nicole Florence of Rensselaer. One brother. Kevin (Rose) Florence of Mt. Ayr and one sister, Kathy (Denny) Westfall of LaPorte.
He was an auto mechanic and worked at Gutwein Motor Company in Monon for 25 years. He was a member of Iroquois Valley Christian Church.
Funeral services were Tuesday, at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with Rev. Paul Spickerman officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens.

Max E. Flynn
October 28, 1931 - February 29, 2000
Max E. Flynn, 68, of Monticello, died Tuesday, February 29, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette, where he had been a patient for the past six weeks.
He was born on October 28, 1931 in White County to Clifford and Orpha Hicks Flynn:
He was a 1951 graduate of Chalmers High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-55 on the USS Iowa.
He was employed by Fairfield Manufacturing in Lafayette for 29 years, retiring in 1990 due to his health.
He was a member of Chalmers Community Church.
Surviving are three sons, Donald Flynn of Herndon, VA. Clifford Flynn of Altus, OK and Carl Flynn of Wolcott; two daughters, Linda (James) Hicks of Chalmers and Lou Ann Flynn of Brookston; a sister, Dana (Paul) Bunnell of Monticello, seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
His parents and a sister, Luella Park are deceased.
Funeral services were Thursday, March 2, 2000 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Bill Henderson officiating.
Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Ralph E. Ford
October 6, 1910 - November 10, 1992
Ralph E. Ford, 82, Brookston, died Tuesday, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been admitted on Sunday.
He was born Oct. 6,1910, in White County, to Rowe Bert and Mary Timmons Ford. He was married Nov. 12, 1935, to Wilma Dyer, who died Nov. 29, 1968.
He was a lifelong resident of the Brookston community and had retired as an electrician at Purdue University in 1974.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. William (Barbara) Reed, Monon, and two sons, Gordon L., Brookston, and Herbert, Colorado Springs, Colorado. A sister, Helen Tan and a brother, Herbert D. Ford, both of Delphi, also survive. He had 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A special friend Jane Wiggins preceded him in death.
Funeral services were today at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Lore Binn Gibson officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Infant Ford [Sierra Danielle]
June 15, 1987 - June 15, 1987
Sierra Danielle Ford, infant daughter of Gordon Douglas and Sharon Spencer Ford of Brookston was dead at birth at 9:11 p.m. Monday in Home Hospital,
The parents are the only immediate survivors.
Surviving are paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon L. Ford, Brookston; paternal great-grandfather, Ralph E. Ford, Brookston; paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Cornelius, Bloomington; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Nancy Spencer, Wolcott; maternal great-grandmothers, Mrs. Jewell Beavers, Remington and Mrs. Ermil Spurgeon, Linden.
Graveside service is today at 3:30 p.m. at IOOF Cemetery, Brookston, the Rev James Walter officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, in charge of service.
Vera L. Oilar Ford
September 3, 1922 - November 25, 1999
Vera L. Oilar Ford, 77, of Lafayette, a former White Co. resident, died Thursday. Nov. 25, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. where she had been a patient since Friday, Nov. 19th.
She was born in Chalmers, Sept. 3, 1922, to Forrest and Anna Schultz Oilar. She was married April 22, 1951, to Herschel Ford, in West Lafayette. He survives.
She graduated in 1940 from the Brookston High School. She was a homemaker.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca "Becky" Colip and son-in-law, Dr. Mark Colip of Tyler, Texas; a brother, Bob "Red" Oilar of Monticello; two sisters, Mrs. F.G. (Yvonne) Halstead of Battle Ground and Esther Harmon, Brookston; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Colip of Tyler, Texas.
A sister, Bonnie is deceased.
Funeral services were at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Grace H. Foust
September 3, 1895 - May 17, 1987
Grace H. Foust, 91, Brookston, died Sunday, May 17, at 7:45 a.m. in St Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Lafayette. She had been a patient there since last Wednesday.
She was born in Reynolds, Sept. 3, 1895, to Fred J. and Dora Bernfield Hermann. She married Curtis C. Foust in Brookston, Feb. 23, 1922. He died March 1, 1963.
She had lived in Brookston since 1922.
Surviving are one son, David E., Brookston; three sisters, Mrs. Bess Dieterle and Mrs. Jo Tornbloom, both of Sun City, Ariz.; and Mayme Hermann, Muskegon, Mich.; two grandsons; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Elmer Hermann, also of Muskegon. Three brothers are deceased.
Services were conducted Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with the Rev Duncan MacNab officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery
in Brookston.
