Jessie M. "Yummy" Camp
May 24, 1924 - Jan. 20, 1995
Jessie M. "Yummy" Camp, 70, formerly of Brookston, died Friday, Jan. 20, at Monticello Health- care Center where he had been a resident for six years.
He was born May 24, 1924 in Brookston to Thomas and Goldie Lear Camp. He never married. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from December 1948 until September 1949. He lived in Brookston most of his life and was a farm hand for John Ward, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Lafayette Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1154.
Surviving are one brother, Pete Camp of Lakeview, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. Four brothers and one sister are deceased.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Burial with military rites was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Leslie Harold Carlisle
Aug. 4, 1915 - Feb 10, 1989
Leslie Harold Carlisle, 73, 131 Bonnie Drive Loop, Alburndale, Fla., died at 4 a.m. Friday, Feb 10, in Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida.
He was born Aug. 4, 1915, in Scott County, Ind., he came to Chalmers in 1920. He was a 1933 graduate of Monticello High School and 1937 graduate of Purdue dairy manufacturing school of agriculture. Mr. Carlisle retired from Purdue Research Foundation in 1978. He had worked there for 33 years. He lived in Tippecanoe County until moving to Florida in 1978. He was married Sept. 18, 1937, to Beulah Mae Dahlenburg, in Monticello. She survives. He was a member of Winter Haven Christian Church, Winter Haven, Florida and formerly attended Monticello Christian Church. He was an honorary member of Purdue Reamer Club and Alpha Phi Omega, Alpha Gamma Chapter at Purdue.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Roma Jean Carlisle, Miami, Fla.; one son, Meyer "Mac" Carlisle, LaPorte; two brothers, Kenneth Lynn Carlisle, Austin, Texas and William Robert Carlisle, Chalmers; and three sisters, Mrs. Helen Abbott, Monticello; Mrs. Ruth Howell, and Mrs. Virginia Drake, Monon. Also two grandsons, John and Steve Carlisle survive.
Service was today at 11 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev Don Arterburn officiating. Interment was in Bedford Cemetery, near Monon.
Herbert Allen Carter
April 18, 1945 - Dec 21, 2000
Herbert Allen Carter, 55, Brookston, died Thursday, Dec. 31 [i.e. 21], at his residence.
He was born April 18, 1945, to William H. and Edres Hendryx Carter, in Lafayette. He was married March 27, 1965, to Peggy E. Anderson at the Federated Church in Brookston, and she survives. He was a 1963 graduate of Brookston High School and a 1967 graduate of the Purdue School of Agriculture. He was a self-employed farm consultant. He retired in 1999 as branch manager of Heartland Co-op. He had worked with Farm Bureau for 32 years. He was a member of the Brookston Lions club and was formerly on the Brookston Library and Frontier School boards.
He is survived by his wife; daughters. Leslie (Rich) Rohrer of Michigan City and Tricia (Michael) Roller of Lafayette; son Eric (Sherrie) Carter, Brookston; his parents, William and Edres Carter, Brookston; brother, Greg Carter of Lynnville; sister, Lana Gilbert of Lafayette; grandchildren, Madeline Rohrer, Katie and Ryan Ruemler, Hallie Carter and Alex and Samantha Roller and 11 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, at the Brookston Federated Church with the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating. Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be given to the Brookston Federated Church. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of the arrangements.
Zachary Charles Carter

Zachary Charles Carter, 2, of Cincinnati, the grandson of local residents, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999.
Surviving are his parents Steve and Tammy Carter; his grandparents. Russell and Bethel Sickler of Chalmers, Don and Sharon Carter and Nancy and Ron Seymour; and great grandparents Dorothy and Al Durbin. Funeral services were Tuesday at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home. Amelia, Ohio.

Jack Holt Chamberlain
August 14, 1937 - November 26, 2000
Master/Sgt. RETIRED Jack Holt Chamberlain, 63, of Brandon, Florida, and formerly of Chalmers died Sunday, November 26, 2000 in Florida. He was born August 14, 1937 in Lafayette, the son of John B. and Viola M. Holt Chamberlain. He married Sodjit Tubwong on October 29, 1972 in Chalmers. She survives.
He was a 20-year veteran with the U.S. Air Force, retiring Sept. 4, 1979. He had been a mechanic working on airplane engines.
He is survived by his wife, a son Joseph Lee Chamberlain of Brandon; two daughters Pornthip Andrews of Valrico, Fla. and Pornrut Thambundit of Tampa. Fla.; two brothers, Herbert Lee Chamberlain and Max Allen Chamberlain of Chalmers and two sisters, Mary E. (Dennis) Sterrett of Chalmers and Sharon (John) Hruban of Speedway, IN. He had four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 2, 2000 at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Gerald Stevens offciating.
Burial with full military honors by the Chalmers American Legion Post #268 will be at the Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hartzler Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. on Friday.

Dale L. Chapman
August 11, 1922 - June 15, 2001
Dale L. Chapman, 78, of Monon died Friday, June 15, 2001 at Jasper County Memorial Hospital, Rensselaer. He had been in ill health for one year.
He was born in Jasper County on August 11, 1922, to Alonzo Steven and Irene Marie Marchad Chapman. He married Doris Emagean Overton in Monon on February 23, 1947. She is deceased.
He worked at RCA and retired after 36 years of employment.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol Eisele of Monon; two sons, Dale E. Chapman and Ron Chapman both of Monon; long time companion, Betty Yeater of Monon; a brother, Russell Chapman of Lafayette; three sisters Eva Yerk, of Brookston, Helen Margison of Wolcott, and Marie Ledford of Buffalo; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One sister is deceased.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with Pastor Matthew Pickut officiating.
Burial was in Milroy Cemetery, Rensselaer.

Robert M. Chilcott
June 17, 1925 - April 1, 2000
Robert Melvin Chilcott, 74, Reynolds, died Saturday, April 1st, at Twin Lakes Village.
He was born June 17, 1925, to Gilbert and Elda Houts Chilcott, in Monticello. He was married April 12, 1947, to Mary Weston in Monticello and she survives.
He lived in White County all of his life.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist.
He retired from Hornback-Sickler construction in 1988. He also worked at Indiana Beach for the past few years.
He was a member of the Monticello Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, Teresa (William) Setley and Darla (Darrel) Schultz, both of Texas, Janet (Kary) Harshbarger, Frankfort and Peggy M. Anderson, Monticello; sons, Charles (Betty) Chilcott, Kokomo and Joseph D. Chilcott, Monticello; sisters, Roberta R. Wilson, Reynolds and Doris (James) Cuip, Monon; brothers, Floyd (Alwayne) Chilcott, Hampton, Virginia and Charles (Iva Jean) Halsema, Monticello; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A son, Robert Chilcott, is deceased.
Funeral service was today (April 5) at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello, with the Rev. James R. Copelarid officiating.
Burial will be at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
Charles C. Clark
April 7, 1902 - Dec. 27, 1987
Charles C. Clark, 86, Chalmers, died Sunday at his residence.
He was born April 7, 1902 in Portsmouth, Ohio, to John and Louisa Shafor Clark. His marriage in Winamac was to Ethel Braner, March 1, 1923. She survives.
He moved to Chalmers from Francesville in 1925.
He formerly owned and operated a grocery store and later a TV sales and service business in Chalmers.
He was a member of the Chalmers Community Church.
Surviving with his wile are one daughter, Mrs. Junior (Carol) Maxson, Chalmers; four grand children and eight great- grandchildren.
One brother and one sister are deceased.
The funeral was today in Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, with the Rev Maurice Davis officiating.
Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Harriet L. Clark
Oct. 12, 1914 - March 23, 1991
Harriet L. Clark, 76, of North Judson, died Saturday, March 23, at 8:40 p.m. in Starke Memorial Hospital. She was ill 2 years and seriously ill 3 months.
She was born Oct. 12, 1914, to John and Anna Smigelski Romanek, in Chicago. She was married Aug. 31, 1935, to Chester T. Clark, in Chicago. He survives.
She was retired from the American Oak Preserving Co., North Judson.
She was a member of the SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, North Judson and the Christian Ladies Club of the church.
Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Elizabeth King, Chalmers; three sons, LeRoy, Houston, Tx.; Richard, Knox and Chester, North Judson; seven sisters; eight grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. One brother is deceased.
The funeral was Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Msgr. John C. Witte officiating. The O'Donnell Funeral Home, North Judson was in charge of the service.
Burial was in St. Jacobs Cemetery, North Judson.
