Clyde C. Culp
May 10, 1922 - September 8, 1998
Clyde C. Culp, 76, of Monticello. died Sept. 8, at his residence. He had been ill for two years.
He was born May 10, 1922, to Roy and Martha Clark Culp, in Jasper County. He was married in 1942, to Marjorie W. Gerbracht Culp, in Monon, and she survives.
He graduated in 1940 from Monon High School, and lived most of his life in White County. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, and served in South West Pacific Theatre.
He was employed at Rensselaer and Monon Stock Yards as a hog buyer and retired after 25 years.
He had worked for the Department of Natural Resources and had retired after 11 1/2 years of service. He also had been employed with Terra Fertilizer, Francesville. retiring after 10 years of employment.
He was a member of Lee United Methodist Church.
He was a life member of Monticello V.F.W.
Survivors along with his wife are two daughters, Connie Shannon Culp, both of Motion; two sons, Darrell of Francesville and Mickey of Decatur; a brother, Keith of Monticello; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A brother and grandson are deceased.
Graveside services were Sept. 10 at Osborne Cemetery, Rensselaer, with the Rev/ Sid Lehmen officiating.
Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to St. Elizabeth Hospice or the Leukemia Foundation.
Karen K. Culver
January 6, 1958 - July 2, 1988
Karen K. Weston Culver, 30, the headteller at Farmers State Bank in Brookston, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday in a traffic accident on Tyler Road, a mile south of the White County line, in Tippecanoe County
She was a passenger in a truck that went over an embankment and hit a tree.
Born Jan. 6, 1958, in Lafayette, she lived at Rt. 1, Brookston, and was a lifelong resident of the Brookston area. A 1976 graduate of Frontier High School, she had been employed at Farmers State Bank since January 1980.
Her marriage Aug. 6, 1976, to Jeffrey Culver was in Lafayette. He survives.
Mrs. Culver attended Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall.
Surviving with her husband are a son, Brandon Culver, at home; her mother, Mrs. Arlus Weston of Brookston, and her grandmother, Mrs. Pearl Rardon of Great Falls, Mont.
Her father, Raymond "Tuck" Weston and brother, Ronnie Lee Weston, preceded her in death.
Services were held Tuesday, July 5, at Hartzler Funeral Home with Floyd Deel officiating. Interment was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Gerald M. Daly
September 27, 1931 - March 22, 2002
Gerald M. Daly, 69, of Monon, died Friday, March 22, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
He was born on September 27, 1931, in Chicago to J.C. and Margaret Scanlan Daly. He married Patricia A. Wright on May 3, 1958. She survives.
He was a 1950 graduate of Austin High School in Chicago.
He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951-55 in Japan, with two years of service as a staff sergeant.
He had summered here for 23 years and moved here 13 years ago from Woodridge, Ill.
He retired from AT&T in Chicago in 1987 after 32 years of employment.
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Gayle (Calvin) Chany of Bolingbrook, Ill; sons, Stephen (Rebecca) Daly of Broomfield, Colo., Mark C. (Christina) Daly and Daniel (Julie) Daly, both of Naperville, Ill; sisters, Rosemary (Martin) Bussert of Elk Grove, Ill; Patricia (Stan) Atkinson of Lionidas, Mich. and Joan (Ray) Careaga of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers Robert (Carol) Daly of Madison. Wisc. and William Daly of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. and four grandchildren.
Burial will be at a later date.
A sister, Margaret is deceased.

Joseph K. Daniels
December 3, 1919 - February 27, 1992
Joseph K. Daniels, 72, Lafayette, formerly of Delphi, died Thursday, Feb. 27, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he was admitted Wednesday. He was born Dec. 3, 1919, to Jesse and Cora Peterson Daniels, in Carroll County. He was married Aug. 7, 1911, to Malvina Righi Goyer, in Lafayette, and she survives. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1938. He worked at Alcoa in Lafayette, for 37 years and retired in 1975. He was a member of Alcoa Retfrees Club and the 25 year club at Alcoa. Also he was a member of the Congress Street United Methodist Church, Lafayette.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Jerry L., Syracuse; two stepsons, David W. Goyer, Logansport and Hitchie N. Goyer, Brookston; eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
The funeral was Monday at Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, with the Rev. Jean M. Brindel officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery, Flora.
Clarence E. Davies
September 10, 1911 - September 26,1999
Clarence E. Davies, 88, a former Brookston resident, died Sunday, Sept 26, at St. Anthony Healthcare, Lafayette. He had been ill since February and a resident of Rosewalk Commons in Lafayette, since June 1998. He was born Sept. 10, 1911, to Chester and Orpha Holiday Davies, in Montezuma. He was married Jan. 6, 1933 to Lilith Downing and she died Feb. 23, 1959. His second marriage was Jan. 5, 1964, to Mary Lough Clements, and she survives. From 1933-98, he lived in Brookston. He moved in 1923 from Parke County to Cairo. He graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1929. He retired in 1980 from farming. He was a member of Brookston Federated Church.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Janice Patterson of Fishers, Jill Goss of Indianapolis and Rosemary Doan of Roswell, Ga.; a son, Doug Davies of Brookston; two brothers, George Davies of Brookston and Chester Davies of Lakeland, Florida; two sisters, Blanche Bardwell of Clarion, Iowa and Bertha Gue of San Diego, Calif.; a stepbrother, John Hites of Portland, Oregon; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Two brothers, Charles and Ray are deceased.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds and the Rev. Stuart Robertson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
Kathleen Stockton Davis
July 17, 1915 - Sept.30,1995
Kathleen Stockton Davis, 80, formerly of Brookston, died at midnight Saturday, Sept.30 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette. She was born July 17, 1915 in Celina,TN to John Mike and Vennie Boyles Stockton. She married Andrew Davis in Celina, TN on March 4, 1941. He died July 8, 1973.
She lived at Rt. 2, Brookston from 1957 until 1980. She moved to Farrington Apartments in Lafayette and for the past two years she has been a patient at Regency Place. She retired from Jessup Paper Box in Brookston in 1979. She was a member of the West Lafayette Church of Christ.
Surviving are two sons, Charles W. of Scottsburg and Eddie R. of Winchester, KY; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Sharlene) Allen of Lafayette; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers and three sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Upton Funeral Home, Celina, TN, Larry Curry officiated. There was visitation on Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery, Moss, TN.
George L. Davisson
July 24, 1910 - June 19,1987
George L. Davisson, 76, former president of the Chalmers Town Board, died Friday, June 19, at 11:22 a.m. in White Co. Memorial Hospital, Monticello. He had been a patient there since June 15 and in failing health since December. He was born July 24, 1910 in White County and graduated from Chalmers High School in 1928 and attended Depauw University. He graduated in 1938 from International Business College in Fort Wayne. Mr. Davisson was a member of Chalmers Community Church; Libanus Masonic Lodge, 154, Monticello; Brookston Optimist Club; and was a former president of Chalmers Civic Club.
He married Gladys A. Dill Dec. 25, 1932 in Lafayette. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter Robert (Judy) Struggles, Rolling Meadows, Ill.; and a son, Steve, Garfield, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter.
Mr Davisson helped to found the Twin Lakes Senior Citizens Club in 1973 and served as its president. In 1986, he received the Older Hoosier of the Year Award from be Indiana Commission on Aging. He worked for International Harvester from 1936 until retiring n 1974. During his working career his pioneering efforts in systems design and computer programming gained him international recognition by several management associations. When he retired he was general supervisor of systems and data services for International Harvester. Since his retirement he had devoted much effort to improving the quality of life for older Hoosiers. He was instrumental in organizing the White County Council on Aging and had held various offices at the local area and state levels of the aging network including chairman of Area IV Council on Aging and second vice president of the State Advisory Council.
Service was Monday at 11 a.m. in Chalmers Community Church, with the Rev Loren Shuman officiating. Interment in Chalmers Community Cemetery. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge.
Russell Thomas Delp
March 7, 1919 - August 5,1995
Russell Thomas Delp, 76, Brookston, died Saturday, Aug. 5, in Home Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient for one day. He had been in failing health for several months. He was born March 7,1919, to Orvis and Estella Thomas Delp. He was married Aug. 11, 1946, to Emma Lou Van Schepen, in Lafayette, and she survives. He graduated in 1937 from Marshall High School and a graduate from Purdue with a degree in horticulture. He was a lieutenant in the Navy during World War II. In 1951, he moved from Detroit, Michigan, to Brookston. He was postmaster at Brookston for 25 years and retired in 1983. Prior to moving to Brookston he was a railroad perishable inspector of fresh fruits and vegetables in Detroit. He was a member of the Brookston Federated Church, National League of Postmasters and Brookston American Legion Post No. 251. He also was a member and former secretary-treasurer of the Brookston Optimist Club.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Gary Franklin of Lafayette and Thomas Michael, Brookston; two brothers, Ross of Marshall and Earl, Bloomington; a sister, Mrs Warren (Katherine) Smith, Poway, Calif.; two grandchildren, Robby Jay and Kimberly Robin. A sister, Barbara Hill and a brother, Keith, are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating. military graveside rites were conducted at Spring Creek Cemetery, northeast of Brookston by Brookston American Legion Post No. 251. Memorial contributions may be given to the Brookston Federated Church.
William A. Demerly Sr.
August 21, 1915 - June 3, 1990
William A. Demerly Sr., 74, Monticello, died Sunday, June 3, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been ill for a year and a half and hospitalized for three weeks. He was born Aug. 21, 1915, to Jacob and Anna Boes Demerly, in Lafayette. He was married, Aug. 9, 1941, to Ruth K. Juday, in Indianapolis. She survives. He lived in Fort Myers, Florida, before moving to Monticello, he lived in Monticello for two years. He had a home on Lake Freeman for 25 years and lived in Brookston for five years. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette and attended Purdue, where he studied engineering. He owned and operated a hardware store in Brookston for 13 years and owned Nash Auto Agency in Lafayette for 10 years. He retired in 1980 from Roper Corp. in Lafayette, where he was an engineering design draftsman. He was a member of the Catholic Church of Resurrection in Fort Myers, Florida, and the Moose Lodge in Monticello
Surviving with his wife are two sons, William A. Jr., Grabill and Joseph, Fort Wayne; one daughter, Deborah Duhnowsky, Star City; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Kelly, New Port Richey, Fla. and Rose Rice, Orland, Fla. Two brothers are deceased.
The funeral was Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette, the Rev. Mathian Crehan officiating. Hahn Funeral Home, Lafayette, was in charge of service. Burial was in St. Bonifice Cemetery
in Lafayette.
Fred D. DeMoss
January 31, 1935 - May 30,1993
Fred D. DeMoss, 58, of Winter Garden, Florida, and formerly of Monticello, died Sunday, May 30, in Orange Co. Regional Medical Burn Center, from injuries sustained in a house fire on Tuesday. He was born Jan. 31, 1935, to James F. and Louise A. Wocknitz DeMoss, in Wolcott. His mother lives in Monticello. He lived in the Wolcott community until moving to Monticello in 1948. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1953, and from Fort Wayne International Business College. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. For 24 years, he managed the White Co. Farm Bureau Cooperative. He moved in 1984, to Florida, and had been employed at Walt Disney MGM studios for the past six years. He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Garden, FL.
Surviving with his mother are three sons; Michael W., Springhill, FL; Mark W., Mobile Ala.; and Mathew W., R.2, Brookston; a sister, Mrs Gerald (Margie) Meents, Monticello and two grandsons.
The funeral was today at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Brown officiating. military rites were conducted at IOOF Riverview Cemetery.
