Helen Jenks Beedler, 72, of Chalmers. died Friday. May 28, 1999. in Matteson, Illinois.
She was born April 21, 1927, to Dewey and Louise F. McKinney Jenks in Dana. She was married Oct. 14, 1942, to Bruce E. Beedle in Covingion. He died April 6, 1990. She moved toChalmers fromWest Lafayette in 1977.She and her husband were the former owners of Bruce's Yestcr Years in Brookston. She was a memberof the Chalmers Civic Club, the Bunco Club and the Lafayette Eagles. She attended Chalmers Community Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Frances Fraser of Elkhart, Nancy Bartlettof Lafayette and Esther Purpura of Matteson, Ill.; a son, Bruce A Beedle of Louisville,Ky.; two sisters,Mildred Carron of Cayuga and DeloresKeener of Union City;eight grandchildrennine great grandchildren and several half brothers and sisters. A brother and sister are deceased.
Funeral service was Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Bill Henderson officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery
in Brookston.
Memorials may be made to the Chalmers Community Church.
Dale W. Biddle
April 13, 1892 to Sept. 7, 1992
Frances Dale Watson Biddle, 100, formerly of Brookston, died Monday, Sept. 7, at 10:15 p.m. in George Davis Manor, West Lafayette. She had been a patient there since March 1, 1988.
She was born April 13, 1892, in Benton County, she graduated in 1909 from Gilboa High School and Marion Teacher's College. She moved to Brookston from Remington, in 1922. She was married Feb. 7, 1912, to Reason H. Biddle, in Remington, and he died Dec. 31,1965. She was a homemaker and member of Brookston Federated Church, Philathea Sunday School class, Prairie Home Demonstration Club and Art Club.
Surviving are three sons, Albert Biddle, Brookston; Reason Biddle, West Lafayette and Robert Biddle, Peru; a daughter, Mrs Max (Mary) Chamberlain, Wolcott. Also 10 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter survive. She was preceded in death by a son, Frank Biddle, a daughter, Eleanor Ollar, a sister and two grandchildren.
Service was today at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. with Rev. Lelan D. McReynolds officiating. Interment was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be given to Brookston Federated Church.
Mark A. Bone

Mark A. Bone, 39, of West Lafayette and a former Brookston resident, died at 7:59 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He had been a patient there for one week.
He was born in Lafayette on April 4, 1961 to Jim and Beulah Dyer Bone. He married Belinda S. Light at the Indiana Veterans Home Chapel in West Lafayette on April 3, 1992. She survives.
He was a 1979 graduate of Frontier High School. He was a lifelong resident of Brookston, moving to West Lafayette after he was married.
He worked at Indiana Veterans Home in ground maintenance for five years. He then worked for TRW, Lafayette, beginning in July 1999 for 13 months. He also worked in reconditioning at Mike Raisor Ford, Lafayette, and worked for Woods Edge Court, West Lafayette, as maintenance supervisor.
He enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing and the outdoors and racing radio controlled cars.
Surviving with his wife are his parents, Jim and Beulah Bone of Brookston; daughter, Brandi N. Bone of Rensselaer; stepson, Eric H. Oliver at home; stepdaughter, Trisha (Brandon) Baugh of Brookston; mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Joy and Don Bennett of Lafayette; sisters, Kathy (Dean) Lane of Lafayette and Kelly (Ron) Whiteaker of Brookston; brother, Shawn (Larissa) Bone of Lafayette; his aunt who he had lived with, Maxine Blackman of Monticello; and three nephews.
An uncle, Bill Blackman, is deceased.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association
Donola P. Brown
Jan. 23, 1913 to Aug. 28, 1997
Donola P. Ross Brown, 84, Brookston, died at 6:12 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the home of her son, James Brown of Horseshoe Bend, Brookston. She had resided at his home for two months.
She was born Jan. 23, 1913, to William A. and E. Ethel Nelson Ross, in Ash Grove. She was married Nov. 15, 1931, to Dale L. Brown, at Ash Grove. He was a former Brookston Town Marshal and he died May 25, 1985. She was a 1931 graduate of Battle Ground High School and had lived in Brookston since 1941. She and her husband owned the first IGA grocery in Brookston from 1945-1955. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Brookston Federated Church, was co-chairman of the White Cross (mission work) of the church for many years and a charter member of the Mothers' Club of the church since 1935. She was a member of the Prairie Home Extension Club.
She is survived by a son, James (Jim) of Horseshoe Bend, Brookston; two daughters, Mrs Dick (Connie) Hallam, Kokomo and Mrs John (Marilyn) Conkright-Marvin, Brookston; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Three brothers are deceased.
Funeral services were conducted last Friday, at 11 a.m. in the Brookston Federated Church, with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating. The Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of the service. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Artha L. Bufkin
April 6, 1918 to Nov. 2, 1997
Artha L. Gosnell Bufkin, 79, Brookston, died at 7:10 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at her residence. She had been ill for 11/2 years.
She was born April 6, 1918, to Arthur P. And Vera Clay Neville Gosnell, in Rensselaer. She was married Dec. 8, 1938, to Harley Bufkin, in Fowler. He survives. She graduated in 1936 from Rensselaer High School. She moved in 1959 from Rensselaer to Brookston. She and her husband owned and operated Edwood Glen Country Club in West Lafayette, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Remington Christian Church and an honorary retired member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Chi Chapter, Brookston.
Survivors besides her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Sandra Kay) Slusser of Monticello; a brother, Dwayne Gosnell of Arizona; two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased. The funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 5, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

William D. 'Bill' Bush

William D. "Bill" Bush, 85, 205 Argold Drive, Brookston, died at 9:35 a.m., Wednesday, June 7, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where he had been admitted May 29. He had been in falling health for a year.
He was born Jan. 21, 1910, to William C. and Melvina Darnell Bush, in Benton County. He was married Sept. 19, 1960, to Grace May Imler, in Delphi, and she lives in Delphi. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Tec-5 Company A, 785th military Police Battalion. He served in the Rhineland, the Europe and Asiatic Pacific Theaters. He was employed for 31 years at Alcoa in Lafayette. He retired in 1972. He lived at R.2, Springboro, before moving to Brookston in May 1994. He was a member of the Brookston Federated Church. He was a 48-year member of the Brookston American Legion Post No. 251.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Donna Pusey, West Lafayette and Helen Mock, Lafayette and four grandchildren. Four sisters, three brothers and a grandson, William Lloyd "Bill" Pusey are deceased.
The funeral was conducted Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Thomas E. Capper, Jr.
June 12, 1939 - January 9, 2001
Thomas E. Capper, Jr., 61, of Evansville, the brother of Brookston residents, died Tuesday, January 9, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was born in Brookston on June 12, 1939, to Thomas Everett and Goldia L. Oilar Capper. He married Connie Elleson in Nashville, Tenn. On January 2, 1977. She survives. He attended Brookston schools and received his G.E.D. He served in the U.S. Army and was a PFC in the 693rd Engineers company. He was discharged in 1967. He had lived in Lafayette and Evansville for the past 11 years. He was retired from General Foods, Evansville. He was a member of the American Legion and AMVETS Post 91, Monticello.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, Tiffany Capper of Evansville; brother Louis (Janet) Capper of Brookston, sisters, Barbara Sutton and Theresa (Paublo) Caudillo, all of Brookston; Nancy (Max) Gordon of Okeechobee, Fla., and Joan McClaughry of Everett, Wash.
An internment graveside service for family and friends was held Saturday at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home was in charge.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Hart Association.
Lisa A. Christopher

Lisa Ann Christopher, 21, R. 2, Brookston, died Friday, March 16, at 9:45 p.m. in her home. She had been ill since May 1976.
She born August 29, 1968, in Lafayette. She attended Kindergarten and first grade in Frontier School Corp and also attended Rensselaer Special Education Co-op and was a member of the class of 1987.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Surviving are her parents, Wayne and Betty Jansen Christopher, R.2, Brookston; two brothers, Steven Christopher, West Lafayette and Philip Christopher, Brookston; and one sister, Lori Christopher, at home. Also surviving is a niece, Ashley Christopher.
Funeral Mass was Tuesday, at 11 a.m. in St. Boniface Catholic Church, with Father Chuck Cichanowicz, OFM, officiating. Interment was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of the service.
Helen E. Clevinger

Helen E. Clevinger, 72, Kokomo, died Thursday, Feb. 18, at 8:55 a.m. in St. Joseph's Hospital Healthcare Center, Kokomo.
She was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Brookston. She was married Feb. 10, 1940, to Dr. William G. Clevinger, who survives. She was a former resident of Indianapolis and a member of Speedway Christian Church.
She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels program in Kokomo.
Survivors are a son, Dr. Brian L. Clevinger, St. Louis; a daughter, Dr. Nina Smith, Fort Wayne; two brothers, Ralph Weiderhaft, Brookston, and Charles Weiderhaft, Boulder City, Nevada; and a sister, Mary Balkema, Romney; 2 granddaughters, a great grandson. A brother and sister are deceased.
Funeral was Monday in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery.
Minnie Hansel Allen
June 15, 1900 to Dec. 1, 1995
Minnie Hansel Allen, 95, formerly of Chalmers, died Friday, Dec.1, in Tioga Pines Living Center, Monticello, where she had resided since June 22, 1989.
She was born June 15, 1900, to Charles Edward and Lesta Faye Crooks Austin, in Monticello. She was married Nov. 16, 1919, to Benjamin H. Allen, in Michigan City. He died Jan. 28, 1982.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Chalmers since 1924. She was a member of the Chalmers Community Church.
Surviving are two sons; Robert W. Allen, Chalmers and Leon Allen, Reynolds; a sister, Marjorie Krintz, Monticello; nine grand children and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A son, two daughters, three brothers and three sisters are deceased.
The funeral was Sunday in Chalmers Community Church, with Rev. William Henderson officiating.
Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of arrangements.
