Anna M. Donohue
December 9, 1912 - April 20, 2001
PLYMOUTH - Anna M. “Ann” Donohue, 88, 700 Rex St., Plymouth, died of natural causes at 1:10 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2001 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth. Ann was a 45-year resident of Plymouth, coming from New York, N.Y. and Southbridge, Mass.
She was born in New York city, N.Y., on December 9, 1912, the daughter of John Terhune and Theresa McCoy Terhune. She graduated from Washington Irving High School in Manhattan and attended business school for one year.
Ann was married to Robert Hansen, who died in 1951. She later married Walter Donohue . Walter died on December 1, 1966.
Ann was a bank teller for twenty years with the Marshall County Building & Loan. She also worked for 12 years in the Valley American Bank of South Bend.
She was a movie buff, enjoying the silver screen. She loved to knit and crochet.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Plymouth and a former member of the Women of the Moose, Plymouth.
Ann is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Roberta “Bobbie” and Karl Anderson, Plymouth.
Two granddaughters and their husbands also survive. They are: Melanie and Thomas Van Dyck, Ft. Wayne, and Andrea and Jeff Lightfoot, Indianapolis. A grandson and his wife, Michael and Lauren Rizzo of Portland, Ore., and two great-granddaughters, Lindsey and Emily Van Dyck and a great-grandson, Connor Lightfoot, also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses and two children: John A. “Jack” Hansen, a son, and Judy Rizzo, a daughter. Louis Rizzo, a son-in-law, four brothers and four sisters have also died.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. , on Sunday, April 22, 2001, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A prayer service will be held following visitation at 7 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Ann will be on Monday, April 23 , 2001, at 1 o’clock in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 625 N. Center St., Plymouth. Father Anthony Gillespie, pastor of St. Michael’s, will officiate.
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Ann’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Mission 2000 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Mardell E. Druzik
August 31, 1943 - May 4, 2001
Mardell E. Druzik, 57, suffered an aneurysm at home in the company of family on Saturday, April 28th and was taken by air ambulance to Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne where she died following surgery and complications at 8 a.m. Friday, May 04, 2001. Mardell was a giver, and although her life was to short and left us to soon, she continued to share with others even in death. According to her wishes she was entered into the Organ Donor Program and will provide renewed life for others.
Mardell has resided at 8300 St. Rd. 17 since 1993 coming from the Chicago area. She was born the daughter of Robert A. and Theresa A. Marx Girmscheid in Chicago on August 31, 1943. She graduated from the St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1961 and attended the Sacred Heart College in Wichita, Kansas.
On October 10, 1964 she and Jack J. Druzik were married in Chicago, he survives. Mardell worked as a secretary for the Maintenance and Engineering Dept. of the South Chicago Community Hospital for 20 years. She then became involved with the Chicago Institute for Spiritual Leadership and after moving to Plymouth served as a secretary for the Kaleidoscope Children’s Center.
Her grandchildren were very special to her and she enjoyed baking and flower gardening, often in the company of her pet dog “Snooky”. Mardell was a former member of Annunciata Catholic Church in Chicago and a current member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Plymouth, where she was involved in the Altar Rosary Society. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Marshall County Hospice program, the Horse Assisted Therapy for Handicap Children and Chapter 1355 Women of the Moose.
Survivors include her loving husband of 37 years, three beloved daughters and five precious grandchildren. Daughters; Deborah A. Hinds and children Justin J. and Valerie of Orland Park, Ill., Renee and Jim Lemanski and children Nicholas, Jimmy and Marcus Lemanski of Lisle, Ill., Deanna and Gene Hixson of Collierville, Tenn. Three brothers and two sisters also survive; her brothers are: Robert Girmscheid of Maryland, Lew and Joan Girmscheid of Batavia, Ill., Bert and Sue Girmscheid of Scottsdale, Arizona and sisters: Sr. Verene Girmscheid O.S.F. of Hammond, Ind. and Gerri and Walt Draus of Lombard, Ill. Numerous nieces and nephews survive along with Mardell’s mother-in-law, Virginia A. Druzik and sister-in-law, Judi Druzik both of Plainfield, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Theresa Girmscheid.
Friends are invited to visit with family on Tuesday, May 8, 2001 from 2 – 8 p.m. in the Johnson – Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth, where a Prayer Service will be held following visitation at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by family friend Fr. Joe Carey C.S.C. of Notre Dame and Pastor Anthony Gillespie at 11 a.m. Wed., May 9, 2001 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 625 N. Center St. Plymouth.

Catherine M. Fisher
March 2, 1905 - December 26, 2001
Catherine M. “ Katie” Fisher, 96, died, following an illness, at 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001 at the Catherine Kasper Life Center, 9601 Union Road, Donaldson, her home since 1990. She was a former 30 year resident of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and 19 years of Merritt Island, Florida.
Born on March 2, 1905, in Champaign, Ill., Katie was the daughter of Henry and Anna Knupp Irle. She graduated from Campaign schools and attended Illinois University.
In April of 1926, Katie and Ellis Fisher were married in Champaign. Her husband died on July 10, 1973.
A housewife and mother, Katie enjoyed playing the piano and was a part of several senior citizen bands. While in Ft. Wayne she assisted her husband at Vesey’s Floral Shop.
She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Katie is survived by two daughters: Sister Joan Fisher, PHJC, Gary, Ind., and Rosemary and Robert Haber, Merritt Island, Fla.
Five grandchildren also survive. They are: Kymm and Kevin Ivy, Robert Haver, Jr., and wife Lisa all of Merritt Island, Florida; Michael and Annette Haber, of Orlando, FL; Pat Haber of Deer Field Beach, FL, and Susan and Mark Sayger of North Carolina. Eight great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, a sister Elsie Babb and two brothers, Cletus and Harvey Irle.
Visitation will be in the Catherine Kasper Chapel on Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, from 4:30 to 9 p.m. An Evensong vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Katie will be held in the Catherine Kasper Chapel, 9601 Union Road, Donaldson, on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at 10 a. m. The Rev. Father Edward Konerman S.J., will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Champaign, Ill.

"Arbie" Flory
March 18, 1922 - April 11, 2001
Lifetime Plymouth resident, Arabella "Arbie" Flory, 79, living at 701 W. Garro St., Plymouth, for the past 61 years, died of natural causes at 8:56 a.m., on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks.
Arabella was born in Plymouth, the daughter of Earl and Ethel Hossler Gottschalk, on March 18, 1922.
She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1941 and sixmonths later, on Dec. 8, 1941, in Plymouth, she and Harold E. Flory were married. Harold died on July 12, 1999.
Arabella worked many years as a clerk for Harvey's Dimestore and Harvey Mart until retiring in 1991.
Family was very important to Arabella and she enjoyed her grandchildren's presence very much. A flower gardener, she was an expert seamstress who enjoyed sewing clothing. She and her husband were Sunday evening racing fans and loved following stock car races at the Plymouth Raceway and throughout the area.
A lifetime member of the First United Church of Christ, Arabella was very much involved in volunteer work at the church, in the Ladies Guild and the Excelsior Sunday School Class.
Arabella is survived by two sons and their families: Larry L. and Lonnie Flory and their children, Michael A. and Angel Flory, all of Warsaw, and Terry L. and Diana Flory, Plymouth, and children Scott A. and Lori Hammel, Argos and Jana R. Wiseman, Plymouth.
Six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Arabella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty-seven years, two sisters, Mary Louise Gridley and Corinne I. Sherer, and an infant brother.
Friends will be welcomed to visit with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2001, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Funeral services at the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center St., Plymouth, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2001. The Rev. David Moffett-Moore, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Rose Marie Fox
August 16, 1920 - May 14, 2001
Rose Marie Fox, 80, formerly of 9680 Union Road, and since 1997, a resident of the Catherine Kasper Home in Donaldson, died, following a lengthy illness at 7:21 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2001, in the Catherine Kasper Home.
Rose was born in Chicago on August 16, 1920, the daughter of Richard and Anna B. Buettner Ehrlicher. She graduated from Chicago’s St. Augustine High School in 1937.
On September 13, 1941, in Chicago, Rose and Joseph J. Fox were married. Joseph died on December 22, 1999.
A homemaker, Rose operated “God’s Garage Sale” at her home for 25 years. Proceeds benefited the sisters of Ancilla Domini.
Her heart and her interests were always with the needy. She enjoyed working with migrant programs and wrapped dozens of Christmas gifts for their children.
A devout Roman Catholic, Rose was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic parish. She was a member of Harvest House, an associate member of Ancilla Domini Sisters, St. Vincent’s Aid in Plymouth, and president of the Mother’s Club of Divine Heart Seminary. In Chicago she served as a District Chairman of Our Lady’s Volunteers and Chairman of Spiritual Development and Secretary of St. Anne’s Society.
Rose is survived by two sons and a daughter. Her sons are James J. and Judy Fox, Reno, Nevada, and Kenneth J. and Jeanne Fox, South Bend, Ind. Her daughter is Sister Sharon Marie Fox, PHJC, Donaldson.
Four grandchildren also survive: Dale Fox and his wife, Kelly, San Leandro, Calif., Kathy Fox, Lafayette, Colorado and Greg and Amanda Fox, South Bend.
Two sisters, Ann Lindsey and Betty Rogala, and Richard and Marie Ehrlicher, a brother, all of Chicago, together with several nieces and nephews, survive as well.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse and two sisters: Marie Schergan and Josephine Ehrlicher.
Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2001, at the Catherine Kasper Home in Donaldson. A Vigil Service will be held in the chapel at 7 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Rose will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2001, in the Catherine Kasper Home. Father Edward Konerman, pastor of Ancilla Domini and Father Anthony Gillespie, pastor of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, will officiate.
Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery
on the grounds of Ancilla Domini, Donaldson.

Betty Lee Gaza
April 7, 1933 - March 28, 2 001
TYNER - Betty Lee Gaza, 67, formerly of Tyner and South Bend, and most recently a three-year resident of the Mason Health Care facility in Warsaw, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2001. Betty died at 6:47 a.m. in Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Ind., from complications of pneumonia. She had been ill with Lupus for the past ten years.
Born in Delta County, Michigan, on April 7, 1933, Betty was the daughter of Myron and Della Pike Moore.
On June 21, 1957, in South Bend, she and Raymond A. Gaza, who died on June 17, 1999, were married.
A homemaker, Betty enjoyed planting flowers and was proficient in the arts of knitting and crocheting.
Baptized a Roman Catholic, she had attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Plymouth.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Valerie and her husband Deljon Fisher, Jesse D. Fisher, a grandson, both of Pierceton, Ind., a granddaughter, Sarah E. Fisher and a great-granddaughter, Tylene R. Fisher, both of Newport News, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and a sister.
Visitation with the family will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2001, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A Rosary service will be held at 1:45 p.m., just prior to a funeral service at 2 p.m., all in the funeral home.
The Rev. Father Anthony Gillespie, pastor of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Plymouth, will officiate.
Burial will take place in St. Jacob’s Cemetery, North Judson, Ind.
