Berniece A. Christ, 80, of the Lutheran Home in Fort Wayne and formerly of Huntington, died at 10:05 a.m. Thursday (June 24, 2004) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, with calling one hour prior to services, at the Lutheran Home, 6723 S. Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne.
Burial will follow the service at 3 p.m. Monday at Clear Creek Cemetery.

James P. Weaver, 53, Logansport, died at 9:03 p.m. Saturday (June 26, 2004) at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kroeger Funeral Home, 711 E. Market St., Logansport. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church in Logansport, with burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery
in Logansport.

John David Tompkins, 63, died at 5:05 a.m. Sunday (June 27, 2004) at Miller’s Merry Manor, Huntington, where he was a resident.
Calling will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday at the Deal-Robbins and Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Burial will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.
Winston B. ‘Smitty’ Smith
Winston B. “Smitty” Smith, 68, rural Wabash, died at 5 p.m. Thursday (June 24, 2004) at his home.
Calling was 2-6 p.m. Sunday, with Masonic rites at 5:30 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash. Services were held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday, with Rev. Billy Fields officiating. Burial was at Falls Cemetery, Wabash.

Mollie R. Garstka, 71, Roanoke, died Saturday (June 26, 2004) of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Allen County.
Calling is at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Roanoke Memorial Funeral Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke, with a memorial service to begin at 6 p.m.

Wilbur Akers
Wilbur Akers, 88, Fort Wayne, died Saturday (June 26, 2004) at his home.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be at the Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Dick Bruss
Richard P. “Dick” Bruss, 76, Huntington, died Tuesday (June 29, 2004) at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington.
Mr. Bruss owned and operated Bruss’s Sewing Center in Huntington for many years. He was a supervisor at Memcor in Huntington for 17 years and worked 13 years as an advertising manager for the Huntington Herald-Press. He also worked as a real estate broker for Marcellus Scher Realty.
Mr. Bruss was a member of the Huntington Rotary Club and a Mason for the Scottish Rite and Mitzpah Shriners. He was a 1946 graduate of Huntington Township High School.
Mr. Bruss was born June 17, 1928, in Huntington to Paul M. and Mary D. Norwood Bruss. He married Helen M. Swales on June 15, 1947; his wife preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 1999.
Survivors include a son, Terry Bruss of Stafford, Va.; four daughters, Mrs. Mick (Pam) Hefner, Huntington, Mrs. Jeff (Beth) Shonkwiler, Upland, Mary Bruss, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Brian (Joan) Lau, Elkhart; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Bruss, Goias, Brazil, and Raymond Bruss, Wabash; and two sisters, Mrs. Rex (Mary Jane) Kunce, Auburn, and Mrs. Max (Marjorie) Tyner, Bluffton.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Russell Buzzard officiating.
Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Huntington County Cancer Society or to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Everett J. Shively Sr., 51, 5806S-594W, died at 8:34 a.m. Wednesday (June 30, 2004) in Fort Wayne.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Deal-Robbins and Van Gilder Huntington Chapel. Services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery
in Mt. Etna.

Heather Marie Keen, 24, Huntington, died at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday (June 30, 2004) at her Huntington residence.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home. Additional calling will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Good Shepherd United Brethren Church, 1280 Hitzfield St. Services will be held at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Stan McCammon officiating.
Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery
in Huntington.
