Darryl Pope
Darryl E. Pope, 42, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Evansville died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville.
Surviving are his wife, Debbie; his sons, Darrell Jr., Brian and Isaac; his mother, Willie Lee Pope; three sisters, Sharon Sutton, Laurie Ann Cushingberry and Sandy Pope; and brothers, Randy and Robert.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mason Brother Memorial Chapel, burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Earlene Russell
Earlene M. Russell, 80, of Evansville, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at her home.
She was born July 26, 1921. Earlene worked in the accounting department at Evansville Shipyards during World War II and later at Mead Johnson.
She was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Charles G. Russell Jr., in 1987.
Survivors are a daughter, Robin Dillman of Mount Vernon, Ind.; a son, Charles Russell of Evansville; a grandson, Matthew Dillman of Mount Vernon; granddaughters, Emily and Erin Dillman, both of Mount Vernon; a sister, Hazel Merta of Columbia, Md.; 6 nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Rita Burress of Newburgh and Angel and Claudia Wimber, both of Evansville.
Services Saturday 1 p.m. February 23, 2002, at Alexander East Chapel, Reverend Thomas Wenig officiating, burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation today, February 22, 2002, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel.

Mark Schroer
Mark "The Bull" Schroer, 47, of Evansville, died Monday, February 18, 2002,. at St. Mary's Medical Center of liver disease. Mark was an avid music lover, he never met a stranger and he brought humor and laughter into the lives of many who knew and loved him. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Newburgh. He was preceded in death by his father, Verwayne Schroer and a sister, Linda Schroer.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred "Mickey" Schroer of Evansville; a brother and his wife Greg and Rita Schroer of Evansville; a brother and his wife, Rick and Cindi Schroer of Boston, Mass.; a nephew, Nathan Schroer and two nieces, Adrian and Brittney Schroer, both Boston; and a great-niece.
A memorial service will be held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Newburgh on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at 2 p.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Simpson Meyer Funeral Home.
Elitha VonHarten
Elitha L. (Clark) VonHarten, 80, of Evansville, died Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital of complications of a stroke. Elitha was born January 6, 1922. She was a lifelong member of Eastview Community Church of the Nazarene. She was a computer lover. She worked at the Weather Bureau from 1944 to 1956. She also worked at Deaconess Hospital in medical records from 1972 to 1991. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Clinton Ashworth, in 1978 and her brother, Nivin, in 1982.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edward; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca "Becky" and Bert Henderson; two grandsons and their wives, B.J. and Ellie, and Danny and Stacey Henderson; 3 great-grandchildren, A.J., Desiraye and Amanda Henderson.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2002, at Simpson Meyer Funeral Home, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Alzheimer's Association.
Kathleen Blythe
OAKLAND CITY - Kathleen E Blythe, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Blythe; a son, Tom; a sister, Geneieve Steele a brother, Nathaniel Tooley; and two granddaughters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, burial in Montgomery Cemetery

Cecil Chenault Jr.
CANNELTON - Cecil L. Chenault Jr. 53, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare in Tell City.
Surviving are his mother, Leota; two sisters, Jennifer Drake and Debra Hockenberry; and three brothers, Mike, David and the Rev. Tim.
Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Saturday at Chestnut Grove Church of Jesus Christ, with burial in the church cemetery.

Jane Dibble
PRINCETON - Jane Nelson Dibble, 75, of Frankfort, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Frankfort.
She had worked at the telephone company. and owned and operated the Gingham Girl Bakery in Evansville.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Krieg and Aimee; a son, Howard N. "Rocky"; and grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Colvin Funeral Home, burial pending. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm. Saturday.

George Hatcher Sr.
CHANDLER - George Earl Hatcher Sr., 66, died Wed. Feb. 20, 2002, at his residence in Chandler, Ind. He was a member of the Big Muddy Missionary Baptist Church in Dunbar, Ky. He was a Teamster for more than 30 years, member of the Local 215, retiring in 1998. After retirement he worked at Warrick Automotive Supply Company in Newburgh.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Pat Hatcher, four sons, Randy Stearns of Wadesville, Russell Allen Stearns of Evansville, George Jr. and Gerald Hatcher, both of Florida; his twin sister, Myrl Stoughton of Carmel, Ind.; a brother, Floyd Hatcher of Dunbar, Ky. and fifteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services 10 a.m. Sat. (Feb. 23) at Koehler Funeral Home Perigo Chapel, with Rev. Kenton Daughtery officiating, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Marquerite Holderbaugh
PRINCETON - Marquerite O. Holderbaugh, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Gibson General Hospital.
She retired from Gibson General Hospital as dietary and food service supervisor.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Robb and Tina Shaw; a son, Robert "Butch"; a sister, Georgia Hullet; and 15 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Memorial Church, burial in Montgomery Cemetery
in Oakland City.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. at Colvin Funeral Home and after 1 p.m. at the church.

William Hopf
HUNTINGBURG - William A. Hopf, 78, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford.
He was a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Helen C.; 13 children, Elaine Miller, Mary, David, John R., Stephen, Thomas E., Kevin R., Keith B. and Marvin J. Hopf, Kathleen and Bonnie Hochgesang, Linda Lichlyter, and Beth Hollinden; a sister, Alice Betz; three brothers, Edwin, Daniel and Frederick; and 31 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, burial in the church cemetery.

Homer Vaughn Jr.
OAKLAND CITY - Homer D. Vaughn Jr., 57, died at 3:51 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at his home.
He was born July 22, 1944, in Washington, Ind. He had lived 22 years in the Oakland City area coming from Otwell, Ind. He was a truck driver for U.S.F. Holland Truck Lines.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local 215 in Evansville. He was an avid Street Rodder and enjoyed making wooden ink pens.
Survivors are his wife, Sandra (Gendren) Vaughn; 2 sons, Tim Vaughn of Owensville, Ind., and Ted Vaughn of Otwell, Ind.; 2 stepchildren, Belinda Wallbank of Indianapolis and Jeff Erdell of Evansville; 2 brothers, Everett Vaughn of Otwell and John Vaughn of Terre Haute, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer D. and Marie DeMotte Vaughn.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home, Deacon Danny Points officiating, burial in Otwell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the Corn-Colvin Funeral Home.
