Betty Katherine Gooley, 79, 753 Frederick St., died at 6:54 p.m. Friday (Oct. 10, 2003) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Tuesday at Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview Home Health and Hospice.

Jimmy ‘Dude’ Asher Sr.

Jimmy “Dude” Asher Sr., 65, 812 N. Main St., Warren, died at 8:38 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 11, 2002) at his home.

Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Elzie Spencer officiating.

Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Eugene C. Schenkel

Eugene C. Schenkel, 75, 6801E-400N, Andrews, died at his home at 2 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 12, 2003).

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 1-2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s County Line Church at the corner of CR 400N and the Wabash/Huntington county line. Services will be held at the church at 2 p.m. Thursday, with Kurt B. Church officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul’s County Line Cemetery, Andrews.

Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, Wabash, is in charge of arrangements.

Esther Daugherty

Esther Daugherty, 91, Hauenstein Road, died Monday (Oct. 13, 2003) at her home.

Calling is 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, with recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Raymond Balzer officiating. Burial will be at the Clear Creek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church for Masses or to Huntington Area Transportation.

Maxine M. Schroll

Maxine M. Schroll, 81, North Manchester, died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Calling is 2-4 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel, 1401 Ind.-114W, North Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Binkley officiating.

Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Servia.

Preferred memorials are to Wabash-Miami Home Healthcare or the American Diabetes. Association.

Elsie M. Zook Thomas

Elsie M. Zook Thomas, 94, Huntington, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 15, 2003) at the United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren.

Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Mel Zumbrun officiating. Burial will be at the Lancaster Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the Salamonie Church of the Brethren in care of the Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Norma L. McCune

Norma L. McCune, 67, rural Markle, died Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2003) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, with calling one hour prior to services, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 546W U.S.-224, Decatur.

Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian.

Preferred memorials are to Ryan Hirschy Ministries, Double Heart Ministries, or St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, in care of the Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian, IN 46777.

Walter W. Smith Sr.

Walter W. Smith Sr., 72, Constantine, Mich., died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2003).

There will be no calling hours. Immediate family will hold a private memorial service.

Eley Funeral Home, Constantine, Mich., is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel Mae Nichols

Ethel Mae Nichols, 91, Grantsburg, Wis., died Oct. 9, 2003.

Burial was at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Faith Lutheran Church in Grantsburg, Wis.

Edling Funeral Home, Grantsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary A. Dobey

Mary A. Dobey, 76, formerly of Lake James, died Thursday morning at the Woodview Healthcare Center, Fort Wayne.

Calling will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson-Klink Funeral Home, 108 S. West St., Angola. There are no funeral services or burial.

Preferred memorials are to the donor’s choice.

Mary K. Tarr

Mary K. Tarr, 88, of Huntington and formerly a Zanesville resident, died at 11:25 a.m. Friday (Oct. 17, 2003) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Calling was from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle, where services were held at 10 a.m. Monday with Pastor Larry Elder officiating.

Interment was at Hoverstock Cemetery, Zanesville.

Preferred memorials are to the Zanesville First Church of God in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.

Mary A. Reust

Mary Anna Reust, 68, Huntington, died Sunday evening (Oct. 19, 2003) at her home.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, with recitation of the rosary at 2:45 p.m. Services will be held at noon Wednesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Walter V. McCann

Walter V. McCann, 61, South Jefferson Street, died at 5 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 18, 2003).

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, with a recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Father Ron Rieder officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington IN 46750.
