Calling is 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton. Funeral services at the funeral home will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday with Rev. Robert Cahoon officiating.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton.
Preferred memorials are to the Epworth United Methodist Church, in care of Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton, IN 46714.

Mary F. Crosser
Mary F. Howe Crosser, 90, 3044W-1100N, died at 4:56 a.m. Thursday (June 19, 2003) at The Heritage of Huntington.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary. Services will be held at the Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 2978W-1100N, at 10 a.m. Monday. Pastor Mike Smith and Gus Hacker will officiate. Burial will be at the Clear Creek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Chapel United Methodist Church or the Huntington College Foundation in care of the Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Dr., Huntington IN 46750.

William ‘Churp’ Bidwell
William Lee “Churp” Bidwell, 72, 332 N. Snowden St., Apt. 7, Andrews, died at 6:53 a.m. Thursday (June 19, 2003) at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Pastor Tim Prater will officiate. Burial will be at the Lagro Cemetery.

Rosann Bennett
Rosann Bennett, 73, Paoli, died at 11:57 a.m. Thursday (June 19, 2003) at her daughter’s home in Huntington.
Calling is 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Father John Guimond will officiate.
Burial will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huntington County Cancer Society, in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Sheila A. Smith
Sheila Anita Smith, 64, Urbana, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday (June 22, 2003) at the Wabash Skilled Care Center in Wabash.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Kurt Church will officiate. Burial will be at the Hopewell Cemetery, Lagro.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wabash-Miami Home Health Care and Hospice.

Mark W. Krepp
Mark W. Krepp, 45, of Huntington and formerly of Connersville, died Wednesday (June 18, 2003) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Calling will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home Myers Chapel, 920 Central Ave., Connersville, and before the 1 p.m. Tuesday services at the funeral home. Rev. Robert Barnard will officiate at the service. Burial will be at the Columbia Cemetery, Connersville.
Preferred memorials are to the Eleanor B. Moran Scholarship Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Robert B. Ashcraft, Sr.
June 27, 1933 - September 18, 2010
Robert B. “Iggy” Ashcraft, Sr., 77, of the Orange community, died Saturday morning, September 18, 2010, at his residence.
He was a native of Old Landing, Kentucky, born June 27, 1933, to Ray and Lilly K. Chaney Ashcraft and moved to the local area as a young child. In 1951, he graduated from Harrisburg High School and was married to the former Macel K. Baker on June 5, 1954 in Lawrenceburg. Bob retired from Connersville Paint after 16 years and had also been employed as a foreman at Greene Metal Plating, Design and Manufacturing and Ashcraft Trucking in Shelbyville where he worked for twelve years. He was a member of the American Legion and Moose. Bob enjoyed golf, fishing and playing cards. Bob had also owned and trained race horses. He and his wife often traveled to Florida to be with family and friends.
Bob is survived by two children and their spouses: Marsha L. Toler and Dave of Bradenton, FL, Robert B. Ashcraft, Jr. and Andi of Gosport; four grandchildren: Denise Richardson of Connersville, Aja Toler of Bradenton, FL, Hannah Jo and Chase Andrew Ashcraft, both of Gosport; a great-grandson: Slade David Corbin; a sister: Aretta Steele and her husband, Rob of Hamilton, Ohio; a brother: Jack Ashcraft of Shelbyville; a sister-in-law: Carolyn Ashcraft of Shelbyville; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died February 5, 2001, his daughter, Vicky Ashcraft Richardson, who died November 20, 2009 and a brother, Glendon R. Ashcraft.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Orange Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home after 12 noon Wednesday until the time of service.

Mark Edward Cooper
June 26, 1975 - September 16, 2010
Mark Edward Cooper, 35, of Connersville passed away the morning of September 16, 2010 at Fayette Regional Health System. His death was abrupt and unexpected.
He was born June 26, 1975 to Ronald L. and Opal L. Powers Cooper in Richmond.
He grew up and attended school in Cambridge City. He briefly resided in the Indianapolis area where he was employed with Lauck Industries. Mark had recently moved back to Connersville to be near his family. Mark had completed his freshman semester with honors at Ball State University where he planned to pursue an Associate of Arts degree. At the time of his death, he was newly employed at SunCall of America in Richmond.
Mark had a strong charismatic personality. He enjoyed hanging out and sharing good times. He was a proud and beloved brother of the Saxton Knights. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family. The core of Mark’s motivation was the love, devotion, and dedication he felt for his daughters, Jordan Taylor and Chelsea Marie Cooper.
In addition to his daughters, he leaves his father, Ronnie L. and Julianne Cooper; brother, Ryan P. Cooper, an adoptive sister, Kylianne Cooper; step brothers and sister, Anthony E., Justen R., and Jessica L. Hyser; a niece, Haley L. Cooper; maternal grandmother, Anna Mae Powers and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
He joins his mother, Opal L. Powers Cooper; maternal grandfather, Thomas E. Powers; Paternal grandparents, Lemuel W. W. and Cora H. Cooper; paternal uncle, Daniel J. Cooper and close friend, Chris Hook.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, with Rev. David Howard of Richmond officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to help defray funeral expenses.

James H. Asbury, Jr.
May 10, 1954 - September 16, 2010
James H. “Jim” Asbury, Jr., 56, of the Everton community, died Thursday, September 16, 2010, at his residence.
Jim was a Connersville native, born May 10, 1954, to James Henry, Sr. and Florence Gibbs Asbury. In 1974, he graduated from Connersville High School and had also completed Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning training at the Vocational School. On August 18, 1975, he was married in Connersville to the former Doris M. Farrow, who died June 13, 2009. Jim owned and operated Asbury Heating and Cooling and had also been employed at Roots Blower for over 20 years. He was a member of Warren Lodge #15, F. & A.M. and enjoyed collecting coins. Jim most enjoyed spending time with his daughters, fishing with his grandchildren and enjoying the outdoors on his quad.
Jim is survived by four daughters and their spouses: Jaime “James” Browning and Jeremy of Connersville, Nicole “Dudes” Kelley and Chris of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Amanda “Red” Schwegman and Michael of Batesville, Shannon “Boo” McCreary and Michael of Connersville; six grandchildren: James and Brent Browning, Laura and Butch Schwegman, Elaina and Jacob McCreary; a sister and brother-in-law: Diane and Bub Revalee of Connersville; two sisters-in-law: Valerie Noah and her husband, Jim of Connersville, Connie Carson of Cincinnati, Ohio; mother-in-law: Minnie Farrow of Connersville; father-in-law: Ray Farrow of Connersville; nephews: Jason and Justin Revalee, D.J. Asbury; several nieces and many friends, including Lena Showalter and Darrin Biggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 33 years and two brothers: Dempsey and Blue Asbury.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel Connersville, with Dennis Perkins, youth pastor of Higher Praise Worship Center officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday where memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray funeral costs.

Loren G. Hartwell
June 9, 1925 - September 15, 2010
Loren G. Hartwell, 85, of Connersville, died Wednesday evening, September 15, 2010 at Lincoln Centers-West surrounded by his family.
Loren was born in Rush County, June 9, 1925, the youngest of five children of Roy C. and Cecilia K. Fore Hartwell. In 1945, he graduated from Connersville High School after being drafted into the U.S. Army. Loren served with the 8th Infantry Regiment in France and Germany. He was injured during the Battle of the Bulge and was decorated with three Bronze Stars. He was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. For 30 years, Loren was a letter carrier at the Connersville Post Office. He had also been employed at American Kitchens and was an accomplished woodworker.
On April 25, 1970, he was married to the former Ruth Dale Allen in Chicago, Illinois. Together they spent their retirement years traveling to Tucson, Arizona and throughout the United States. Ruth died November 7, 2008.
Loren is survived by four daughters: Iris L. Turley of Tucson, AZ, Marsha L. Paddock and her husband, Ron, Jennifer A. Groce, all of Connersville, Amy D. Bauer of Liberty; step-daughter: Betty Ann Seever of Rushville; nine grandchildren: Kevin and Jake Turley, Andy B. Pitcher, Laura Wilson, Julie Marcum, Alicia Foster, Jacob Groce, Amanda Gilley, Wendi Griffee; 26 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; former son-in-law: Bob Groce of Connersville; his first wife and mother of his children: Hazel Kanorr Ailes of Connersville.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Dorothy Shock, Maxine Sanders, Catherine Ray and Julia Gibson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastors John Reynolds and Bob Flannery officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Disease Research or to Rev. Bobby and Gretchen Brown Ministries.

Melody Jean Brewer
August 24, 1957 - September 14, 2010
Melody Jean Carlton Brewer, 53, of Connersville, died early Tuesday morning, September 14, 2010, at her residence.
Melody was born in Kansas City, Missouri, August 24, 1957, to Dallas W. “Rocky” and Donna Jean Hunter Carlton and attended Connersville schools. On September 25, 1976, she was married at her parents’ home in Connersville to Dennis B. Brewer. Melody had been employed at Fayette Regional Health System in the pharmacy. She loved animals, nature, and was a very spiritual person. Melody was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting crystal and hummingbirds.
Melody is survived by her husband of over 33 years; two children: Ethan Neil Brewer of Connersville, Melissa Rene Putts and her husband, Larry of Indianapolis; two granddaughters: Breanne Rene and Elizabeth Mary Ann Putts; her mother: Donna J. Carlton of Connersville; four siblings and their spouses: Debra Ann Ward and Robert of Fountain City, John Everett Carlton and Carol of Richmond, Annette Joann Meredith and Rob of Belleville, IL, Amy Marie King and Brian of Connersville; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Melody was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Private funeral services will be conducted at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with brothers, Mark and Rodney Walker, officiating. There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Ruth Null
November 30, 1919 - September 12, 2010
Ruth Null, 90, of Oxford, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Hospice of Hamilton.
Ruth was born November 30, 1919 to John and Katie Freeman Rhodus in West College Corner. She was an amazing cook whose recipes for homemade noodles, fried chicken, and many other delicious foods will be treasured memories. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and working with ceramics.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Donald L. and Doris N. Null, of Morning Sun; daughter: Patricia A. Lambert, of Oxford; 6 grandchildren and their spouses: Larry and Joanie Hensley; Jerry and Rhonda Hensley all of Mixerville, Indiana; Donna and B.J. Null Koons of Camden; Tina Lambert of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Tracy and Bill Null Havens of Liberty; 16 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents; husband: Walter L. Null; daughter: Mary K. Hensley; two sons-in-law: A.T. Hensley, Mark Lambert; two brothers: William Rhodus, Roy Rhodus; two sisters: Ida Mae Pallman, Mary Conley; and a great-grandson: Dillon Lambert-Pomery.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, with Bill Havens officiating. Interment will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 Friday until the time of service, where memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Hamilton.

Edith M. Kirkendall
October 5, 1930 - September 11, 2010
Edith M. Kirkendall, 79, died Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
Edith was born October 5, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, the second youngest of ten children of Howard and Bertha Spurrier McCoy. She attended school in Lancaster, Ohio and was married there on December 5, 1953 to Eugene R. Kirkendall. She and her husband were charter members of New Heights Church of Christ. Edith’s interests evolved around her church activities. She enjoyed dining out and going for rides.
Edith is survived by her children and their spouses: Carl R. Kirkendall and Loueen of Seattle, Washington, Kevin D. Kirkendall and Reneé of Connersville; grandchildren: Bethany, Katherine, Casey, Derek and Courtney Kirkendall; several nieces, nephews and special friends.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died October 15, 1998, two sisters: Hazel Seeholtz, Pearl Raver; seven brothers: Howard, Russell, Lawrence, Milford, James, Clyde and Bernard McCoy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with ministers Robert D. “Pete” Taylor and Brian Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Thursday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the New Heights Church of Christ.
