Burial will be at the Highland Park Cemetery.

Jeffrey James Berry, 37, Sidney, Ohio, died Saturday (Nov. 9, 2002) at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Grandstaff Hentgen Funeral Home, Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Captain Eugene A. Hemley, USN (Ret.), 84, of Scarsdale, N.Y., died on Veterans Day (Nov. 11, 2002).
Arrangements were handled by the Bennett Funeral Home, Scarsdale.
James A. Phillips
James A. “Jim” Phillips, 89, Circle Drive, died at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 13, 2002) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Calling is from 2-6 p.m. Friday and from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.

Elizabeth M. “Liz” Young, 90, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 14, 2002) at Beverly Rehabilitation and Specialty Care of Fort Wayne, where she was a resident.
Calling will be held from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Monday at Roanoke Memorial Funeral Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke. Rev. Ron Burns will officiate.
Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.

James G. Hughs
James G. Hughs, 84, Venedocia, Ohio, died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 13, 2002) at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hughs farmed in York Township for 77 years before retiring. He was a member of the Monticello United Brethren Church and of the former Elgin United Brethren Church, where he held many positions. He was a former member of the Van Wert County Board of Elections and the Van Wert County Farm Bureau.
He was born Feb. 14, 1918 in Van Wert County, Ohio to Elmer James and Rachiel Ann Cattell Hughs. He attended York High School. He married Lois Johnson on Dec. 12, 1942. His wife survives.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Saturday at the Cowan & Son Funeral Home, 616 S. Washington St., Van Wert, Ohio, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Carey G. Knittle and Rev. Andy Atkins will officiate.
Burial will be at Goodwin Cemetery, York Township.

Ruth Viola O’Neal Brewer, 88, Kirby, Ark., died Friday (Nov. 15, 2002).
Calling will be from 6 to 8 p.m. local time (7 to 9 p.m. Huntington time) at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood, Ark. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Caney Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Elders Keith Howell and Harold Turner officiating. Burial will be at the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Alta E. Edris, 89, Poneto, died at 9:56 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 14, 2002) at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Calling was from noon-8 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, and one hour prior to the funeral service that was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Liberty Center Baptist Church. Rev. Dan Sommers will conduct the service.
Burial will be at the Emmanuel Cemetery, Rockford.
