Helen Josephine Yake
Helen J. Favorite Yake, 90 a resident of Miller`s Merry Manor (formerly of Yake Subdivision) died at 8:35 PM on Tuesday, February 11, 2003. Mrs. Yake was a homemaker. She and her husband, Herbert, developed the Yake Subdivision in Huntington County. She had worked for the Memcor Corporation for 17 years from 1950 - 1967. She was a member of Central Christian Church and was active in the Women`s Church Ministry. She was also active in supporting school activities for Huntington Township for many years. She was a 1930 graduate of Huntington Township High School.
She was born on November 14, 1912 in Huntington, a daughter of George H. and Cleo Mabel Long Favorite.
She was united in marriage to Herbert J. Yake on January 4, 1934 in Southern, Indiana. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1978.
Survivors include three sons: Dr. Ronald F. Yake of Rockford, IL; Terry Yake of Overland Park, KS; Wayne Yake of San Francisco, CA; a daughter: Roxie Moore of Marion; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Charlotte Vollmar; a sister: Lois Favorite Landis; and a granddaughter; Lisa Yake.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 14, 2003 from 5:00PM - 8:00PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 10:00AM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Dr. Sam Young officiating.
Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery
in Andrews.

DeWayne C. Johnson
DeWayne C. Johnson, 87 formerly of Harris Street, and a resident of the Heritage of Huntington died at 9:25 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Mr. Johnson worked as a pipe fitter at Fisher Body in Marion for 27 years, retiring in January 1980. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran and also served during the
Korean War. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Huntington Moose Lodge and the Huntington VFW Post 2689. He was a 1933 graduate of Huntington High School where he played the trumpet in the high school band, which played at the 1933 Chicago World`s Fair. For many years he and his wife enjoyed the winters at the Silver Springs Camp Resort in Silver Springs, Florida.
He was born on March 22, 1915 in Wren, Ohio a son of Vallie Ray and Olive Clifton Johnson.
He was united in marriage to Roberta Street in 1941 in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death in 1942. His second marriage was to Eileen Fisher on January 30, 1947 in Marion. She preceded him in death on April 15, 2001.
Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. John (Duayna) Kopiel of Rome, NY; Mrs. Jim (Carolyn) Sotherden of Oklawaha, FL; Mrs. Danny (Patricia) Carpenter of Huntington; two sons: Gary D. Johnson and Larry G. Johnson both of Huntington; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Bob Johnson, Rich Johnson and Gene Johnson; three sisters: Martha Renz, Pauline Fahrnow and Jane Daugherty.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 7, 2003 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 10:00 AM with one hour of calling prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Russell Buzzard officiating.
Preferred memorials are to Bethel United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer`s Association in care of Myers Funeral Home 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery
in Huntington County.
George W. Fairchild
George W. Fairchild, 84 of Bluffton died at 4:40PM on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at Markle Health Care in Markle. Mr. Fairchild worked in construction and was a member of the HOD Labor Union. He was interested in photography and enjoyed wildlife and the changing seasons at Quabache State Park near Bluffton. His great grandfather, Moses Fairchild, was the first white settler in Whitley County and many of his family reside in this area. George accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and he loved the Lord with all his heart, mind and soul.
He was born on February 22, 1918, the youngest of eleven children, to William Edward and Mary Phiffer Fairchild of Etna Green, Kosciusko County.
Survivors include a son: Robert E. Fairchild of Chico, CA; Two daughters: Mrs. Larry (Deborah) Gaskill of Markle; Kaaren Ziegler of Bluffton; a sister: Mrs. Howard (Zona) Hasty of Columbia City; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at the Jefferson Chapel Coesse United Methodist Church, 7067 S. 500 E., Columbia City with Pastor Jeffrey Boyle officiating.
Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond DeWayne Roberts
Raymond D. `Butch` Roberts, 65, of Ash Street in Huntington died at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Roberts was born May 18, 1938 in Huntington, Indiana, the son of Kenneth `Short` and Mildred (Judy) Roberts. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1955 - 1958. He worked at Celotex in Lagro, Indiana for 13 years and then for many years worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed playing euchre and country dancing. He was a life member of the Hansel Roberts American Legion Post in Lagro and was also a member of American Legion Post #85 in Huntington.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Judy) Weesner of Huntington; four sons, Terry D., Rodney A., Timothy W. and Kevin S. Roberts all of Huntington; one brother, Max Roberts of Lagro, IN; two sisters, Joan Martinsek of Gile, WI and Beverly Rudicel of Clinton, TN. Twenty (20) grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750, with Pastor Jon Willis officiating. Visitation will take place from 12:00 Noon until the 2:00 PM service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Gardens of Memory in southern Huntington County.

Leota Lucille Lindeman
Leota L. Lindeman, 95 formerly of North Jefferson Street, Huntington (also formerly of Buell Drive, Ft. Wayne) died at 6:55 AM on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at the Norwood Nursing Center in Huntington. Mrs. Lindeman worked in manufacturing for many years at General Electric in Fort Wayne retiring in 1969.
She was born on June 17, 1907 in Huntington County, a daughter of Gideon and Addie Class Stetzel.
She was united in marriage to Ned Raver in May 1926 in Huntington, he preceded her in death in 1959.
Her second marriage was to Everett Lindeman on April 3, 1953 in Fort Wayne. He preceded her in death in July 1984.
Survivors include a son: Thomas E. Raver of Albion, a daughter: Mrs. James (Jean) McIlrath of Huntington, a stepson: Ralph Bud Lindeman of Fort Wayne, a sister: Annabelle Werling of New Haven, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a step grandson, four brothers: Russell Stetzel, Walter Stetzel, Nelson Stetzel, Danny Stetzel, a sister: Mary Stonebraker and a half brother: Kenneth Schlaudruff.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 6, 2003 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2003 at 10:00 AM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Dr. Sam Young officiating.
Interment will be at the Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery
in Fort Wayne.

Vernon R. Brooking
Vernon R. Brooking, 93 of the 801 N. Huntington Avenue, Warren, IN and formerly of Majenica, Indiana died at 10:25 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center in Bluffton, IN.
He was born on October 14, 1909 in Rock Creek Township, a son of Melvin and Iva (Hause) Brooking. He was a 1927 graduate of Lancaster High School, Huntington County, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Hilda Shultz on July 31, 1932 in Antioch, Indiana. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1989.
Mr. Brooking worked as an assistant to Mayor Zach Dungan in the early 1930`s and became affiliated with The Majestic Company in 1932 where he remained for 42 years, serving as the Director of Purchasing for 25 years, retiring in 1974.
He served as president of the Fort Wayne Association of Purchasing Agents and as a director of the National Association of Purchasing Agents. He served as vice-president of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. He also served as President of the Huntington County Industrial Management Council, the Indiana Council and in1950 was elected as the National President of the Industrial Management Council. Mr. Brooking was a member of the St. Peter`s United Church of Christ. He was chapter chairman of the American Red Cross and served on the board of directors of both the eastern and mid-western regions of the American Red Cross. He served as President of the Huntington Downtown Kiwanis Club and as Lieutenant Governor of the Kiwanis Indiana District. He is a past-master of the Mt. Etna Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter: Mrs. John (Marilyn) Sunderman of Huntington, two granddaughters and a great-grandson.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 31, 2003 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, with Rev. Raymond Scribner officiating.
Interment will be in the Lancaster Cemetery
in Huntington County.

Marcy Ann Miller
Marcy Ann Miller, 50, of rural Markle, died late afternoon on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at CR 400 N and 200E in Huntington county.
Mrs. Miller was born on March 2, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Jack D. and Freda (Stump) Walton. She was a 1972 graduate of South Side High School. She was a member of the Zanesville Community Church of God and a member of the church`s Women`s Christian Service Council. She was united in marriage to Larry W. Miller on May 9, 1974 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, IN. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include: two daughters, Amanda Miller of Fort Wayne and Katy Miller at home; her mother and step father, Mrs. Gail R. (Freda) Cole, of Bradenton Beach, FL; two brothers Gail R. Cole II of North Muskegon, MI, and Ralph Cole of Bradenton Beach, FL; two sisters, Debbie Morken of Columbia City, IN and Libby Taylor of Fort Wayne, IN.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Walton.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2003 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, 415 North Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Elder officiating. There will be one hour of calling prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.
