Della Mae Hefner
Della Mae Hefner, 82 of rural Huntington died at 4:18 AM on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at The Heritage of Huntington. Mrs. Hefner was a homemaker. She was a 1940 graduate of West Rock Creek High School in Huntington County. She was a member of the Northview Church of Christ where she was a member of the Golden Circle Class. She was a former member of the Northeastern Indiana Beekeepers Association and the Indiana State Beekeepers Association. She and her husband, Sherman, owned Hefner Apiary, tending over 1000 hives in a six county area surrounding Huntington County.
She was born on April 16, 1920 in Wabash County, a daughter of Earl and Mary Ellen (Basicker) Hoover.
She was united in marriage to Sherman Hefner on April 20, 1940 in Markle. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1976.
Survivors include four daughters: Edith Fulton and Marcella Kinsey both of Huntington; Mrs. Joe (Janet) Coldren of Columbia City; Mrs. Leon (Louella) Kilander of Wells County; a sister: Ilo Langston of Warren; a brother: Elmo Hoover of Hemit, CA; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Estel Grace Rice; Esther Irene Ridenour and a great granddaughter: Faith Jordan Kinsey.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 12, 2003 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Bill Warax officiating.
Preferred memorials are to the Northview Church of Christ in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery
in Huntington.
Eldon Russel Wetters
Eldon R. Wetters, 91, a resident of The Heritage of Huntington (formerly of 1123 North Jefferson Street) died at 8:10 PM on Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Mr. Wetters owned and operated Wetters Sales and Service from 1943 - 1973. He was a 1930 graduate of Union Township High School and a 1938 graduate of Fort Wayne Vocational Trade School. He was a member of Central Christian Church, the Huntington Exchange Club, Huntington County Cancer Society and was a charter member of the Huntington Jaycees.
He was born on August 12, 1911 in Clear Creek Township, Huntington County a son of John and Clara (Witter) Wetters.
He was united in marriage to Miriam M. Helvie on April 8, 1936 in Markle. She preceded him in death on December 24, 1984.
Survivors include a son: Garl D. Wetters of Warsaw; three sisters: Mrs. Jack (Inez) Kannapel of Huntington; Mrs. Vera Robinson of Florida; Mrs. Doris Wetters of Old Mission, Michigan; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A daughter: Neila M. Murray; two brothers: Dale Wetters and George Wetters and three sisters: Eileen Ulrich, Edna Stetzel and Erma Dietz preceded him in death.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 10:00 AM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Dr. Sam Young officiating.
Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery
in Huntington.

James O. Chaney
James O. Chaney, 80 of Gardner Court, Markle died at 10:05 PM on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Markle Health Care in Markle. Mr. Chaney founded Chaney & Sons Excavating in 1949 in Zanesville. He and his sons dug graves for many years for area cemeteries from 1950 - 1996. He also farmed in Zanesville. He raised Albino Catfish, Bluegill and Bass. He was known for his vegetable gardens.
He was a member of the Zanesville United Brethren Church where he invested many hours of volunteer labor and equipment to assist in the development of Camp Cotubic in Bellefountaine, Ohio. He served in many ways at his church and for many years as song leader. He enjoyed rolling skating and fishing. He was a 1940 graduate of Lafayette Central High School in Allen County. He was a member of the Markle Business Association and served in the Army Air Corps from November of 1942 through July of 1943 as a Private First Class.
He was born on July 21, 1922 in Allen County, a son of Thomas and Merle (Walker) Chaney.
He was united in marriage to Louise Williams on March 24, 1943 in Springfield, IL. She preceded him in death on July 1, 1992.
Survivors include three sons: Kendric L. Chaney of Bluffton; Nick L. Chaney and Ronald J. Chaney both of Zanesville; two daughters: Mrs. Ed (Christine Susie) Decker of Portland, IN; Mrs. Joe (Sharleen) Carnes of Markle; a sister: Phyllis Johnson of Ossian; eighteen grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Schenkel and a brother: Kedric Chaney.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 21, 2003 from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2003 at 10:00 AM at the Zanesville United Brethren Church with Pastor Tom Datema officiating.
Preferred memorials are to the Markle Park Foundation in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.
Interment will be at the Hoverstock Cemetery
in Zanesville.
Viola C. Hubley
Viola C. Hubley, 85 formerly of Mishler Road, Huntington died at 4:50 AM on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at The Heritage of Huntington. Mrs. Hubley had formerly worked at Schacts Rubber Company and the Triad-Utrad Company in Huntington for many years. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school. She made quilts and blankets for the Right to Life Organization and Miller`s Merry Manor.
She was born on August 14, 1917 in Wells County a daughter of Furl and Amy (Davis) Davison.
She was united in marriage to Vaughn L. Hubley on November 27, 1936 in Fort Wayne. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1992.
Survivors include a son: Mr. & Mrs. David (Judy) Hubley of Fort Wayne; two daughters: Mrs. Thomas (Marcella) Bechtold of North Manchester, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Coy of Piqua, OH; a brother: Verlin Davison of Bluffton; twelve grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Loretta Hethcote; a granddaughter; a great granddaughter; two brothers: Vaughn Davison, Vance Davison; two sisters: Velma Zuercher and Vivian Elzey.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 from 2:00PM - 8:00PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Kevin Dunlop and Pastor Gene Vickery officiating.
Preferred memorials are to the First Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 828, Huntington, IN 46750, ore to the Heritage of Huntington, 1180 W. 500 N., Huntington, IN 46750.
Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery
in Huntington County.
Katie Elizabeth Kobelski
Katie Elizabeth Kobelski, 22 of 80 Scott Hill Road in Colchester, CT died at 5:27 PM on Monday, March 10, 2003 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Katie was a student in her junior year at Huntington College majoring in Music Education and was a member of the Huntington College Select Choir. She enjoyed working with the stage crews on many Huntington College drama productions. She was a 1999 graduate of Bacon Academy High School in Colchester, CT. where she was in the Concert band, Concert Choir, COC`s in Choir, Eastern Regional Choir, Varsity Softball and the Varsity Cross-Country Team. She was known for her deep commitment to Jesus Christ and helping children learn to appreciate music. She served as a junior and senior youth group leader at her home church, Fitchville Baptist Church in Bozrah, CT. and she was a worship ensemble leader. She volunteered in the kitchen at Good News Bible Camp, Recreation Director and 6th grade teacher during vacation bible school.
She was born on April 22, 1980 in Farmington, CT., the daughter of Alfred L. and Nancy M. (Forrest) Kobelski Jr.
Survivors include her mother: Nancy Kobelski of Colchester, CT.; her paternal grandparents: Alfred and Maria Kobelski Sr. of Oakdale, CT.; an aunt: Mrs. Timothy (Jane) Russell of Marietta, GA.; five uncles: Mark Forrest of Deep River, CT.; Lance Forrest of Coventry, RI.; Walter Kobelski of Oakville, CT.; Richard Kobelski of Kennewick, WA. and Robert Kobelski of Niantic, CT.
She was preceded in death by her father Alfred L. Kobelski Jr. in 2002; her maternal grandfather Donald Forrest in 1996 and her maternal grandmother Lois Forrest in 1981.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the Fitchville Baptist Church on Bozrah Street in Bozrah, Connecticut with Rev. Stephen Kurczy officiating.
Interment will be at the St. Patrick Cemetery
in Montville, CT. on Monday, March 17, 2003.

Marcia Marie Thone
Marcy Thone, 62 of Main Street, Andrews died at 1:38 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at her home. Mrs. Thone, known as the Apple Lady of Andrews, was the owner and operator of A Garland of Apples - a business that she started in 1985 making creative designs using dried apple slices. She enjoyed going to the local schools for demonstrations.
She was a 1959 graduate of East Leyden High School in Schiller Park, Illinois. She was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church on Taylor Street where she taught Sunday School for many years. She narrated many special programs and enjoyed performing in drama productions at the church and at the Wabash Community Theater. She enjoyed flower gardening, travel and camping with her family. She was a member of the Dallas Township Home Extension Club (Andrews). She enjoyed reading and counted cross-stitch.
She was born on December 8, 1940 in Chicago, IL a daughter of Otto and Florence Mackowiak Maas.
She was united in marriage to Jerry Thone on October 10, 1964 in Melrose Park, IL. Her husband survives in Andrews.
Additional survivors include a daughter: Mrs. Garrick (Diane) Mickelson of Huntington; a brother: Martin Maas of Henderson, NV and two granddaughters: McKinley Mickelson and Victoria Mickelson both of Huntington.
She was preceded in death by a son: Robert Thone in 1980 and her parents: Otto and Florence Maas.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 14, 2003 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at 10:30 AM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Dan Bostater and Pastor Jack Shiflett officiating.

Ralph M. Reed
Ralph M. Reed, 85 formerly of Markle and of Mishler Rd., in Huntington, died at 6:30 PM on Friday, March 7, 2003 at the Parkview Huntington Hospital. Mr. Reed was a resident of the Oakbrook Village Nursing Home in Huntington. Mr. Reed owned and operated Reed TV and Appliance in Markle for many years retiring in the mid 80`s. He was WWII Army veteran, and was a pilot in the Civil Air Patrol after his time in the service. He was also a HAM radio operator for over 40 years and was a member of the MARS Division while in the Army which allowed service men to communicate with their families.
He was born on November 11, 1917 in Zanesville, IN a son of Milo and Zeffie Kitchen Reed. His first marriage was to Helen Meisen on September 29, 1940 in Zanesville, IN, she preceded him in death on January 17, 1989. His second marriage was to Helen Miller on Sept. 15, 1990 in Huntington, IN, she preceded him in death on April 3, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter: Mrs. David (Sharon) Johnson of Cape Coral, FL.; two Stepsons: Richard Miller of Huntington and Thomas Miller of Greeley, CO.; a Step-daughter: Mrs. Mike (Deborah) Caley of Glidden, IA.; a sister: Esther Krick of Ossian, 1 grandson and 1 great grandson; 7 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Charles and Ted Reed and a sister: Blanche Geiger.
There will be no Services or Visitation.
