Barbara J. Gerringer
Barbara J. Gerringer, 72, 8080W-950N, died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Gerringer had worked in quality control at Eton Controls, Huntington, for 31 years.
She was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Huntington, to Everett Dennis and Jessie Edith Cunningham Crago.
Survivors include a son, John Michael “Mike” Gerringer, Huntington; a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Patricia “Po”) Brooks, Huntington; two sisters, Sharon May Crago, North Manchester, and Karen Kay Lahr, Huntington; plus 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jocelyn Gerringer, and a brother, Dennis Eugene Crago.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gospel Community Church, 404 Grayston Ave., with Rev. Elzie Spencer officiating.

Erna A. Davis
Erna Ann Davis, 89, Beloit, Wis., died Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) at Beloit Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Davis and her husband, Irvin, were in the retail business for 25 years. She was later employed by Walgreen Drug Store in Chicago as a cosmetician, retiring in 1977. She and her husband moved to Beloit in 1979. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Beloit.
She was born July 30, 1912, in Curtice, Ohio, to Rudolph and Cora Beyer Loboschefski. She married Irvin E. Davis in Chicago on Sept. 6, 1930. Her husband died in June of 1981.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Willard (Barbara) Anderson, Huntington, and Mrs. John (Joyce) Metter, Beloit; a brother, Frederick Loboschefski, of Florida; two sisters, Esther Meadows, Pinellas Park, Fla., and Alice Campbell, Midvale, Utah; plus four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward, and a sister, Leona.
Calling is 6:30-8:30 p.m. Huntington time (5:30-7:30 p.m. local time) at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 212 W. Grand Ave., Beloit. Calling will also be held from noon until the 12:30 p.m. memorial service Friday at the church. Rev. Harriet G. Shands will officiate the service.
Burial will be at the Chapel of Joseph of Arimathea Columbarium, Beloit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Mrs. Davis’ name to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Beloit, in care of Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI 53511.
Sherman E. Rosen
Sherman E. Rosen, 88, of Urbana, died at 10:40 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 8, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Rosen was a farmer. He was born, raised, and lived his entire life on the same farm. He was a member of St. Paul’s County Line Church, Andrews.
He was born Sept. 19, 1913, in Lagro Township, Wabash County. He married Isabel C. Schenkel on Sept. 21, 1935. His wife died Feb. 24, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, James Rosen and Lowell “Shorty” Rosen, both of Urbana; a daughter, Mrs. DeWayne (Bette) Fitch, North Manchester; nine grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 17 stepgreat-grandchildren and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Saturday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind.-114W, North Manchester.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s County Line Church, 3995N-1000W, Andrews, with Pastor Joe Congemi officiating.
Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Servia.

James Hall
James Hall, 82, a resident of the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren, died at 6 a.m. Friday (Nov. 9, 2001) at the home.
Mr. Hall retired from E-Systems, Memcor Division, where he had worked as a shipping supervisor for more than 40 years. He was also the former owner and operator of Oak Lanes Bowling Center and Rainbow Bowling Lanes, both in Huntington. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion, all of Huntington. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was born May 4, 1919, in LaFontaine to Clyde and Fairie McFarland Hall. He graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1938. He married Claribel Morrett in Huntington on May 11, 1944. His wife died April 14, 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas L. Hall, Ellijay, Ga., Michael J. Hall, Huntington, and Patrick J. Hall, Andrews; three daughters, Mrs. Yetive (Marcia) Ruppert and Mrs. James (Connie) Eckert, both of Huntington, and Mrs. Mike (Phyllis) Frye, Mauldin, S.C.; two brothers, Doyle Hall, Logansport, and Dean Hall, Huntington; a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Maxine) Vogel, Marion; 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A brother, Richard Hall, preceded him in death.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary. Pastor Robert Bruce will officiate.

will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689. Burial will follow.

Margaret LaVerne Trussell
Margaret LaVerne Trussell, 85, Amarillo, Texas, died Friday (December 14, 2001) in Amarillo.
Mrs. Trussell was a beautician and an artist specializing in oil paintings. She was a member of the San Jacinto Baptist Church, Amarillo.
She was born in 1915 in Chickashay, Okla. Her marriage was Feb. 3, 1936, in Memphis, Texas, to Ardell Trussell. He preceded her in death in 1955.
Survivors include four daughters, long-time Huntington resident Sharon Rivers, now of Cincinnati, Ohio, Fran Roscoe, Dumas, Texas, Ginger Dungan, Topeka, Kan., and Cindy Cotgreave, Amarillo, Texas; a son, V.A. Trussell, Weatherford, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pat Cozzens, Albuquerque, N.M.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.
A private burial will follow in Memphis, Texas.

Sister Regina Torzewski
Sister Regina Torzewski, 94, Victory Noll, died Saturday (Dec. 15, 2001) at Holy Family Health Care Center, Victory Noll.
Sister Torzewski entered the congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on Oct. 29, 1928, and made her first vows April 4, 1932. She served missions in California, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah, returning to Victory Noll in 1985 for a hospitality and communications ministry.
She was born Sept. 6, 1907, in Wausau, Wis., to Jacob and Katherine Torzewski, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sisters, Rose Pommer of Huntington and Esther Corrigan of Amherst, Wis.; and a brother, Edward Torzewski of Humbolt, Tenn. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Calling is one hour before a 7 p.m. Monday wake service at Victory Noll Chapel and one hour before a Mass of Christian burial scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Victory Noll Chapel with Rev. Thomas Fahey officiating.
Burial will be at Victory Noll Cemetery.
Thomas F. Thompson
Thomas F. Thompson, 77, Troy, Ohio, died Thursday (Dec. 13, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Thompson was a descendent of the Miami Indian Tribe of Indiana and had been a former resident of Warren and the Newton Falls area. He had worked as a sales manager for Colonial Metal Products and Shenago Steel Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Newton Falls and the Church of the Holy Angels in Bainbridge Township. He had served as past president of the Newton Falls School Board and as past president of the Newton Falls Kiwanis Club. He coached little league baseball. He was an All State basketball player for Huntington Catholic High School in Indiana.
He was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Huntington to Arthur L. and Josephine Weber Thompson.
Survivors include a son, Tom Thompson, Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. William (Linda) Cord, Tallmadge, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Eldon Thompson, and a sister, Ruth Hoffman.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Church in Newton Falls, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Burial will take place Wednesday at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, where a 10 a.m. committal service will be held in the chapel.

Adolph H. ‘Ott’ Peting
Adolph H. “Ott” Peting, 102, died at 9:15 p.m. Friday (Dec. 14, 2001) at the Lutheran Homes, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Peting retired in 1975 from Orton Crane. He had been owner/operator of Peting Standard service station in Huntington. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
He was born Sept. 15, 1899, in Huntington, to Fred W. and Lucy Poehler Peting. His marriage was Aug. 30, 1921, in Bippus, to the former Gladys Kilty. She died on March 19, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Fred D. Peting, St. Paul, Minn; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Minnie Nida, Huntington, Gertrude Gobel, Andrews, and Louise Earhart, Fort Wayne.
A son, Arden Peting; two daughters, Mary Ann Peting and Betty Peting; two sisters, Pauline Bryan and Martha Anderson, and a great-grandson preceded him in death.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with Rev. Richard S. Lofgren officiating.
Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
