Audra D. Collins
Audra Delight Collins, 95, 9288W-1100S-35, LaFontaine, died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 2, 2001) at Rolling Meadows Health Care, LaFontaine.
Mrs. Collins was a homemaker and had served as secretary of the Huntington County Fair Board. She was a member of the Banquo Christian Church, Christian Womens Fellowship, the Wednesday Study Club, Huntington County Extension Homemakers, the Grant County Historical Society, and the Marion Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was born April 6, 1906, in Grant County to Earl and Lena Hartley Dimick. She graduated from Marion High School. She married Earnest Oren Collins, who preceded her in death in 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. George (Juanita) Rapp, LaFontaine; a sister, Dorothy Dimick, Converse; and three grandchildren.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main St., LaFontaine, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Gary Riley will officiate.
Burial will be at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.

Virginia Tucker Paul
Virginia Gayle Tucker Paul, 66, of Hemet, Calif., died Friday (Nov. 30, 2001) at the Hemet Valley Medical Center, Hemet. She was the wife of former Huntington resident Perry Paul.
Mrs. Paul was a homemaker for 48 years and had worked for five years as a records clerk at the Hemet Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Lake City, Ark., on Feb. 23, 1935. She married Perry Paul in 1974. He survives in Hemet.
Other survivors include two daughters, Lynn Shipman and Patricia Houck, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; three stepdaughters, Diane Paul, Doylestown, Penn., Susan Paul, Fountain Valley, Calif., and Carla Paul, Riverside, Calif.; a sister, Annell Rogers, Fayetteville, Ark.; four grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
A graveside service was to be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Tuesday) at the San Jacinto Valley Cemetery, Santa Fe, Calif.
Preferred memorials are to the donor’s choice.

Alice L. Pond
Alice L. Pond, 77, 414 E. 1st St., Warren, died at 5:45 a.m. Monday (Dec. 3, 2001) at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mrs. Pond retired from Memcor, Huntington, in 1987 after 23 years of service.
She was born March 11, 1924, in Wells County to George Henry and Bessie Belle Carnes Crawford. She attended Chester Center High School, Wells County. She married Forrest A. Pond in Wells County on Oct. 7, 1944. Her husband died Oct. 18, 2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ted (Becky) Foreman, Bluffton; two grandchildren, Ben Bennett and Jorden Bennett, Warren; and four great-grandchildren.
A brother, Delbert Crawford, preceded her in death.
Calling is 2-7 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Thursday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. Rev. Joe Haney will officiate.
Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren.

Vivian M. Powell
Vivian Marie Powell, 92, of Columbus, Ohio, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday (Dec. 3, 2001) at the Columbus Health Care Center in Columbus.
Mrs. Powell had been a 50-year resident of Mt. Etna, where she owned and operated Pete’s Place. She was a member of the American Legion in Van Buren. She had been a resident of Columbus for three years.
She was born April 21, 1909, in Grant County to Dillon and Annette Wines McCracken. She married Vasco “Bob” Powell, who preceded her in death in January of 1975.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna J. Williamson, Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery
in Huntington County. Rev. Rick Jett will officiate.
Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, is in charge of arrangements.
Wanda L. Bartrom
Wanda L. Bartrom, 73, Carmel, died Saturday (Dec. 1, 2001) at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mrs. Bartrom was an administrative assistant for Kiwanis International in Indianapolis, retiring in 1996.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1928, in Randolph County, to Talmadge and Lola French Wiggins. She lived in Huntington until 1955. She was married to Richard Bartrom, who died in 1971.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Cox, Carmel, Cindy Eads, Indianapolis, and Chris Galli, St. Louis, Mo.; four sons, Brad Bartrom, Westfield, Wes Bartrom and Doug Bartrom, both of Carmel, and Dave Bartrom, Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Leppert & Hensley Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel, 900 N Rangeline Rd., Carmel. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Indianapolis.

Jack Leroy Lefever
Jack Leroy Lefever, 73, rural Columbia City, died at 7:15 p.m. Friday (Nov. 30, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He had been in failing health for the past few months.
Mr. Lever was employed at Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne, for 39 years and of various square dance clubs for the past 36 years. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Whitley County.
He was valedictorian of the Class of 1946 at Jefferson Center High School, Whitley County. He was a veteran of the Navy.
He was born July 7, 1928, in Huntington County to Merritt H. and Mildred Crowell Lefever. His marriage was March 17, 1951, to the former Deloris M. Gross. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Janet) Knafel, Columbia City and Mrs. Rick (Diana) Creech, Leesburg; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Gene Lefever and Henry Lefever, both of Columbia City.
He was preceded in a death by a granddaughter.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with Dr. James Cress officiating.
Preferred memorials are to Grace Lutheran Church, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, of the Humane Society of Whitley County.
Timothy K. Meade
Timothy K. Meade, 51, rural Ossian, died Thursday (Nov. 29, 2001) at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Meade was elected sheriff of Wells County in 1990 and served one four-year term. He was elected chairman of the Wells County Democrat Party this Aug. 22. He was a deputy sergeant in the Wells County Sheriff’s Department and has been associated with that department since starting in 1974. He was appointed as a regular deputy in 1975 and became chief deputy in 1981.
He is past president of the advisory board of Wells County Community Corrections and was a member of the Indiana Sheriffs Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. He also was certified as a K-9 officer. He was a 1968 graduate of Norwell High School.
He was born March 4, 1950, in Bluffton, to Avis and Vallera Gray Meade.
He is survived by a son, Nick K. Meade, Ossian; and five brothers, Pat Meade, Rochester, Rex Meade, Ontario, Canada, Mike Meade and Greg Meade, both of Bluffton, and Jeff Meade, Fort Wayne.
He also is survived by his fiancee, Scheryl Krumma, Ossian.
Calling is from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Douglas McClure officiating.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton.
