Harry W. Schabitzer
Harry Walter Schabitzer, 83, 843 Cherry St., died at 6:22 p.m. Thursday (May 17, 2001) at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Schabitzer was a retired sales representative for Young’s Drug Products of Piscataway, N.J. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Elks Lodge 805, Moose Lodge 837, and American Legion Post 7, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689. He served in the Army during World War II.
He was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Oscar William and Erna Scholl Schabitzer. He married Martha Bea Eckert on May 17, 1947. His wife survives and lives in Huntington.
He is also survived by a son, Mark D. Schabitzer, Andrews.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m., at Hart Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 840 Cherry St. Father Ron Rieder will officiate.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Masses at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or to Huntington Catholic School, in care of Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
Hanna Marie Collins
Hanna Marie Collins, seven weeks old, Jasonville, died Wednesday (May 16, 2001) at Riley Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis.
Hanna Marie was born March 25, 2001, at the Sullivan County Hospital, Sullivan, to Christina Collins. Her mother survives and lives in Jasonville.
Other survivors include a sister, Summer Perry, Jasonville; two brothers, Devin Houston, Jasonville, and Tythan Fish, Worthington; her grandparents, Juanita and Dave Lapezynski, Huntington; and her great-grandmother, Leona Richards, Jasonville.
There will be no public calling hours.
Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday at the Antioch Cemetery
near Dugger. Rev. Harold Thomas will officiate.
McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home, 631 E. Main, Jasonville, is in charge of arrangements.
Cloid N. Spears
Cloid Noble Spears, 74, Nashville, Ark., died Thursday (May 17, 2001) at a Nashville nursing home.
Mr. Spears was a heavy equipment operator. He was a Baptist and served in the Army during World War II.
He was born April 1, 1927, in Belton, Ark., a son of Luther M. and Willie Belle Spears. His mother survives in Nashville, Ark. He married Ethel Lorie Copeland, who survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Tannie Spears of Nashville, Ark., and Cloyce Robin Spears, Etna Green; a daughter, Terriffa Huffman, Hope, Ark.; three brothers, Clifford Spears and Billie Spears, both of Nashville, Ark., and Don Spears, Warren; a sister, Virginia White, Dierks, Ark.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A sister, Dorothy Chism, is deceased.
Mr. Spears was cremated. Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville, Ark., was in charge of arrangements.
Ellen I. Hale
Ellen Ilene Hale, 69, 1352 Engle St., died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday (May 17, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Hale was a homemaker and had been employed at Schacht Rubber Co. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge 823.
She was born in Roanoke to Howard A. and Merle J. Williams Branstrator. She attended Lafayette Central High School.
Survivors include two sons, Russell E. Hale and Robin E. Hale, both of Huntington; four daughters, Bridget M. Hale, Veronica J. Holley, Kim R. Weaver and Bonnie S. Holbrooks, all of Huntington; three sisters, Mrs. Merle (Margaret) Somers, Mrs. James (Donnabelle) Sheley and Mrs. Clifford (Helen) Smith; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert H. Branstrator; and a sister, Mrs. Lester (Betty) Lambert.
Calling hours and funeral services will be private.
Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Huntington County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to Huntington County Humane Shelter.

Mary E. Beck
Mary E. Blair Beck, 84, 265 N. Tracy St., Markle, died at 4:45 p.m. Friday (May 18, 2001) at the Community Care Center in Huntington.
Mrs. Beck was a homemaker.
She was born on Nov. 20, 1916, in Wells County, to Charles Emery Blair and Flora Belle Fudge Blair. On Feb. 20, 1937, in Warren, she was married to Harrold W. Beck; he survives in Markle.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Verta Ree) Andes, Columbia City; a sister, Grace Stock, Marion; a grandson; four granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandsons; a step-granddaughter; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a son, Bernard B. Beck; a grandson; a great-grandson; four brothers, Russel Blair, Paul Blair, Elza Blair and Glen Blair; and five sisters, June Blair, Blanche Souers, Pearl James, Ruth Blair and Neoma Cloud.
Calling will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown and Son Chapel, Warren, where funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. John Pattison will officiate at the services.
Burial will be at the Van Buren Cemetery.
Bruce F. Snider
Bruce France Snider, 82, 129 W. McCrum St., died Monday (May 21, 2001) at his home.
Mr. Snider had been an inspector and production worker at United Technologies Electronic Controls in Huntington for 16 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Huntington to Donald E. and Orpha Stech Snider. He married Louise Johnson in Laurel, Miss., on Sept. 13, 1942. His wife survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Arden D. Snider, Huntington, and Darrell G. Snider, Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Mary Jane Pontius, Fort Wayne; his stepmother, Peggie Snider, Lansing, Mich.; two half-brothers, Don Snider and Rickey Snider, both of Lansing, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
A brother, Marion Snider, preceded him in death.
Calling is 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Robert H. Working
Robert Howard Working, 72, Wabash, died Tuesday (May 22, 2001) at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wabash.
Mr. Working was tool and die maker for Fisher Body, Marion, for 18 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of United Auto Workers 977 and the Marion Sympathy Club. He was an avid fisherman and had lived in Wabash County all his life.
He was born on April 30, 1929, in Wabash County to John and Lena Butt Working. On Dec. 24, 1949, in LaFontaine, he married Doris M. McCollister; she survives in Wabash.
Other survivors include two sons, Robert Ray Working Sr., LaFontaine; and Terry Lee Working, Wabash; two daughters, Connie Fay Working and Teresa Sue Baxter, both of Wabash; a brother, Wayne Working, Treaty; three sisters, Relna McVay, Marion, Elizabeth Warner, Gas City, and Nina Rouch, Banquo; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, three brothers and a sister.
Calling will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Home, Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Pastor John Cook will officiate at the service.
Burial will be at the Friends Cemetery, Wabash.

Martha M. Speicher
Martha Mae Speicher, 81, of Wabash and formerly of Lincolnville, died Monday (May 21, 2001) at Wabash Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Speicher was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. She was a member of the Lincolnville United Methodist Church.
She was born on Nov. 21, 1919, in Grant County, to Bryan and Marie Coon Titus. She married Clarence H. Speicher in 1952. He died in 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Lamons, Edwardsburg, Mich., and Charles Lamons, Bluffton; two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Sherry) Manns, Warsaw, and Mrs. Robert (Diana) Dice, Wabash; two stepsons, Roger Speicher and Steve Speicher, both of Wabash; two sisters, Mrs. Chet (Helen) Booth, Leesburg, and Mrs. Bill (Nora) Kellem, of Florida; two brothers, Jefferson Titus, Indianapolis, and Dale Edward, Fairmount; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.
Calling will be from 4-8 p.m. today at McDonald Funeral Home, 104 S. Main St., LaFontaine, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Bill Cook will officiate at the service.
Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville.
