Dorothy J. Richardson
Dorothy J. Richardson, 73, 8251W-200S, Andrews, died at 8 p.m. Sunday (April 1, 2001) in Huntington County.
Mrs. Richardson was a 1945 graduate of Monument City High School and also graduated from Marion Beauty School. She retired in 1987 after 28 years as a hairdresser at the Bud Miller Coiffure Shop. She was a member of Pilcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church and of the Indiana Extension Homemakers Association.
She was born June 3, 1927, in Huntington County, to William A. and Iva M. Bare Rathfon. Her marriage was Oct. 2, 1948, in Auburn, to Daryl E. Richardson. He died on July 15, 1995.
Survivors include a son, Greg “Jackie” Richardson, Plymouth, and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Rathfon and Bertha Layman, and a brother, Chester Rathfon.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pilcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Russell Buzzard officiating.
Interment will be at Monument Cemetery.

Fred C. Nahrwold
Fred C. Nahrwold, 68, rural Ossian, died Saturday (March 31, 2001) at Bluffton Regional Medical Center, Bluffton.
Mr. Nahrwold retired as a farmer in 1997, the same year he also retired as a printer from Flashbox Co., Fort Wayne. He was a member of the American Legion Grover Sheets Post 111, Bluffton, the Wheels of Yesterday and Maumee Valley Steam and Gas Engineers group, of New Haven; and of the New Hope Lutheran Church, Ossian. He was an Air Force veteran of the
Korean War.
He was born Oct. 2, 1932, in New Haven, to Elmer and Bertha Schmidt Nahrwold. His marriage was April 5, 1953, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Ossian, to the former Norma P. Werling. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David F. Nahrwold, D.V.M., Woodburn, and Curtis F. Nahrwold, Markle; three daughters, Rhonda S. Rasdorf, Ossian, Susan N. Laughbaum, Wadesville, and Carol Sue Nahrwold, Cincinnati; two stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren; and three brothers, James L. Nahrwold and Larry Nahrwold, both of New Haven; and Elmer Nahrwold Jr., Fort Wayne.
He is also mourned by an exchange-student “daughter,” Carla Ferretti-Hoover, Roanoke.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Nahrwold.
Calling is from 6-8 p.m. Monday, 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, Ossian Chapel, and for one hour prior to the funeral services, scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Lutheran Church, Ossian. Rev. Paul Doehrmann will conduct the services.
Burial will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Ossian.
Preferred memorials are New Hope Lutheran Church, Ossian, or Christian Care Retirement Community, Bluffton.
Waneta M. Hoover
Waneta M. Hoover, 74, 1405 Garfield St., died at 9:30 p.m. Friday (March 30, 2001) at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Hoover was cafeteria manager at Horace Mann School, Huntington, for 21 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the First Brethren Church, Huntington.
She was born on Dec. 5, 1926, in Wabash County, to Loren S. and Irma Burdick Carroll. On Dec. 9, 1944, she married Jack Hoover at Central Christian Church. Mr. Hoover survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Beth) Epperson, Andrews; a son, Richard “Rick” Hoover, Fort Wayne; four sisters, Lucille Wolter, Maxine Weaver and Mrs. Joyce “Betty” McCune, all of Huntington, and Mrs. Loren (Arlene) McCune, Uniondale; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James E. Carroll and Dale Carroll.
Calling will be from 9 a.m. until the 2 p.m. service Monday at the Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Rev. Russell Buzzard will officiate at the service.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Fred C. Foudy
Fred C. Foudy, 85, Zanesville, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday (April 2, 2001) at the Markle Medical Center.
Mr. Foudy retired in 1979 as an inspector for Dana Corporation, Spicer Axle Division, where he worked for 32 years. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1935 and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Germany. He attended East State Street Church of God.
He was born on April 14, 1915, in Lancaster Township, to Michael and Laura Smith Foudy. His marriage was Oct. 18, 1941, in Warren, to the former Naomi R. Yount. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William (Patricia) Quickery, Fort Wayne; and Mrs. Thomas (Judy) Risk, Roanoke; two sisters, Mary Heitz, Wabash, and Alice Foudy, Huntington; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Foudy, Rev. L.E. Foudy; and a sister, Helen Riggle.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, and from 1:30 until the 2:30 p.m. services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Steven Stull will conduct the service.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren.
Lawrence D. ‘Larry’ Heideman
Lawrence D. “Larry” Heideman, 68, Huntington, died Friday (March 30, 2001) at Norwood Nursing Center.
Mr. Heideman was a retired electrical engineer for Micro Switch and was an avid woodworker. He was a graduate of Kewanee, Ill., High School and of the DeVry Institute of Technology, Chicago. He was a member of Aboite Lutheran Church and was an Air Force veteran of the
Korean War.
He was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Kewanee, Ill.
Survivors include his mother, Matilda Heideman, Huntington, and three aunts.
Calling is one half-hour before the funeral services, scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Son’s Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Ill.
Preferred memorials are to Aboite Lutheran Church.
Marvin J. Denney
Marvin J. Denney, 83, a former resident of Huntington, Ossian and Fort Wayne, died at Friday (March 31, 2001) at Miller’s Merry Manor, Huntington.
Mr. Denney was a painter for Bowser Pump Company, Fort Wayne, for 20 years and a machinist at General Electric Company, Fort Wayne, for 18 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Ossian United Methodist Church and Harmony Lodge 19 Order of Odd Fellows.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1918, in Allen County, to Roscoe and Stella Mutton Denney. His marriage was Jan. 22, 1944, in Huntington, to the former Betty L. LaVine. She died on Jan. 5, 1987.
Survivors include one son, Allen L. Denney, Huntington; two brothers, Clifford Denney, of California, and Walt Denney, Fort Wayne; four sisters, Mildred Bear, Mt. Etna, Georgina Roth, Bluffton, Bernice Denney, Fort Wayne, and Eileen Reddin, of Florida; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Othal Denney; and a companion, Faye Park.
Calling will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m.services at the Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, Ossian Chapel. Rev. Michael Heinbaugh will officiate at the service.
Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian.
Preferred memorials are the Ossian United Methodist Church Building Fund, in care of the funeral home.
Coy Ray ‘Dick’ Abbott
Coy Ray “Dick” Abbott, 78, Delphi, died at 9:56 p.m. Thursday (March 29, 2001) at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Delphi.
Mr. Abbott worked for the former Bill Lee John Deere dealership, Delphi, as an implement salesman, then for Pearson’s, Delphi, delivering bottled gas and fertilizer. He also worked for Clawson Appliances, Delphi, for several years before retiring.
He was born in Somerset, Ky., Oct. 26, 1922, to Coy T. and Mable Claunch Abbott. He was a 1940 graduate of Oxford High School, Oxford, Ind., and attended Purdue University. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He attended the First Assembly of God Church, Lafayette and helped coach Little League and Pony League baseball teams.
His marriage was July 26, 1959, in Delphi, to the former Patricia A. Phillips. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Brian Abbott and Shawn Abbott, both of Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. Kevin (Gayle) Conner and Jayne A. Abbott, both of Delphi; two brothers, Arnold Abbott, Delphi, and Dave Abbott, Silver Lake; three sisters, Mrs. Phill (Fern “Jackie”) Stiever, Elkhart, Geneva Dowell, Lafayette, and Mrs. Robert (Louise) Comer, Mulberry; one half-sister, Helen Dean Girkey, Merritt, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Calling is from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the Abbott Funeral Home, 421 E. Main St., Delphi, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with. Pastor Greg Hackett officiating.
Burial will be at the Masonic Cemetery, Delphi, where Delphi American Legion will perform military graveside rites.
