Monte J. Kline
Monte J. Kline, 41, Huntington, died at 7:17 a.m. Thursday (March 8, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Kline was employed by Ewald Industrial Tire, Fort Wayne.
He was born March 21, 1959, in Huntington, to Virgil and Esther Louise Tyner Kline. His father survives and lives in Andrews.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Vickie) Craker, Granger, and Mrs. Ross (Deborah) Stowers, Hartville, Ohio.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Russell Buzzard will officiate. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.

Everett W. Lamb
Everett W. Lamb, 65, 1526W-1000N, Markle, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday (March 8, 2001) at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Lamb was a supervisor for 20 years for the BP Amoco Propane Terminal, Huntington. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the
Korean War, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, and the American Legion Post 160, Roanoke.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1935, in Eupora, Miss., to Everett W. Sr. and Mozelle Dodd Lamb. His mother survives in Eupora. He married Janice Kellen Nov. 16, 1985, in Wheaton, Minn. His wife survives in Markle.
Additional survivors include two sons, Terry Lamb, Winona, Minn., and Tony Lamb, Marshall, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Todd (Tammy) Banks, Fergus Falls, Minn.; a sister, Glenda Varnado, Madison, Miss.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother and a sister, Helen Vaughn.
Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday.
Burial will be at a later date.
L. Richard Yoder
L. Richard Yoder, 71, 311 Carlisle Dr., died at 6:30 a.m. Friday (March 9, 2001) at the Norwood Nursing Center.
Mr. Yoder worked for the Yoder Trucking Company for 43 years, becoming owner in 1967 and retiring in 1993. He was an Airman 1st Class in the United States Air Force during the
Korean War. He was a member of Central Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and former chairman of the board of trustees, and was a member of American Legion Post 7, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, and the Izaak Walton League.
He was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Huntington, to W. Roy and Inez Marshall Yoder. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1947. He married Carolyn J. Diffendorfer on Nov. 26, 1950, in Huntington. His wife survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Greg (Ann) Funk, Kokomo, Mrs. Mark (Emilie) Wolf, Huntington, and Mrs. David (Susan) Hunnicutt, Roanoke; two brothers, Larry D. Yoder, Peru, and Rex G. Yoder, Amarillo, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Patricia Mullen and Rev. Teal Younce will officiate. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery
in Huntington County.

John E. Gerringer
John E. Gerringer, 73, Huntington Beach, Calif., died Feb. 28, 2001, in Huntington Beach.
Mr. Gerringer was a former resident of Huntington, where he had worked at E-Systems Memcor Division. He was a member of the Huntington Moose Lodge, transferring his membership to the Moose Lodge in Huntington Beach, Calif., when he moved there in 1965.
He was born April 29, 1927, in St. Paul, Minn., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Gerringer.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Bartrom Gerringer; two sons, John Michael "Mike" Gerringer, Huntington, and Scott Gerringer, Huntington Beach, Calif.; four daughters, Patricia "Po" Brooks, Huntington, and Gayle Green, Kathy Mishler, and Misty Akin, all of California; four sisters, Hazel Kelly, Florida, Phyllis "Po" Miller, Kokomo, Bessie Shapner, Indianapolis, and Faith Taylor, California; a brother, George Gerringer, California; 25 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Cremation was by the Neptune Society. A memorial service was held March 5 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Connie L. Shoemaker
Connie L. Shoemaker, 72, Gas City, died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday (March 6, 2001).
Mrs. Shoemaker had worked at Foster Forbes in Marion.
She was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Auburn, a daughter of Kenneth and June Livergood Kahler. She married Victor Shoemaker March 7, 1947; her husband survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Stephen L. Shoemaker, Marion, and Kevin D. Shoemaker and Kenneth W. Shoemaker, both of Huntington; three daughters, Vickie Phillipe, Huntington County, and Deborah Fuller and Laura E. Sharp, both of Marion; two brothers, David J. Kahler, Marion, and Hubert Kahler, Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 8 stepgrandchildren, and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.
A brother, Kenneth H. Kahler Jr., is deceased.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Rev. Bob Osenbaugh and Rev. Allen Kahler will officiate. Burial will be at Estates of Serenity, Marion.
Howard D. Rader
Howard Dewight Rader, 64, Ridge Manor, Fla., died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday (March 3, 2001) in Bradenton, Fla.
Mr. Rader had lived in Huntington until moving to Florida in 1980. He previously worked for E-Systems, Inc., and was currently employed in operations at Acterna Technologies (formerly Cheeta Technologies) in Bradenton, Fla.
He graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1955 and served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Peter’s First United Church of Christ, Moose Lodge, and the Quarter Century Amateur Radio Club.
He was born Sept. 8, 1936, in Huntington, a son of Albert Clayton Rader and Ruby Mae Kinley Rader. His mother survives in Huntington. He married Janet Derr June 16, 1960, in Huntington; his wife survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Tim Rader, Ridge Manor, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Bert (Kathy) Bronn, Windham, Maine, Mrs. Robert (Tracy) Menetre, Dade City, Fla., and Mrs. Bruce (Amy) Biggs, Lafayette; four sisters, H. Delight Rader, Bethesda, Md., and Mrs. John (Pat) Shoemaker, Mrs. Galen (Sue) Lassiter, and Mrs. Art (Nancy) Chenoweth, all of Huntington; two brothers, Larry Rader and Wayne Rader, both of Huntington; and eight grandchildren.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Pastor Paul DeMerchant will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Betty J. Wall
Betty J. Wall, 74, a resident of the United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren, died at 12:34 p.m. Tuesday (March 6, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Wall had been a nurse’s aide and volunteer at Huntington Memorial Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Sigma Beta.
She was born March 29, 1926, in Warren to Jefferson and Mabel Campbell McElhaney. She married Zack “Jack” Wall Jr. on Feb. 27, 1945. Her husband died June 21, 1992.
Survivors include three sons, Monte Joe Wall and Michael Wall, both of Warren, and Jeffery A. Wall, Huntington; three daughters, Mrs. Martin (Vicki) Renbarger, Warren, and Mrs. Louis (Jane) Sikora and Mrs. Robert (Teresa Kay) Taylor, both of Huntington; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
A brother, Harmon McElhaney, preceded her in death.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, with Eastern Star services at 6 p.m., at the United Methodist Memorial Home, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the home, with Rev. John Wallace officiating. Burial will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.
Hart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Thomas James Jr.
Dr. Thomas James Jr., 84, 1044 Poplar St., died at 9:44 a.m. Monday (March 5, 2001) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Dr. James graduated from the Indiana University Medical School. He moved to the Huntington area in 1946, and maintained a medical practice in the area until his retirement in 1991.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific.
He was born in 1916 in Vincennes. He married Gertrude Demsko in 1943 in San Francisco, Calif.; his wife died Dec. 16, 2000.
He is survived by a son, Keith James, Huntington.
A second son, Guy James, preceded him in death.
There will be no calling hours or services. The family will hold a private burial at a later date.
