Billy B. Larkey
Billy B. Larkey, 71, 1209 Wayne St., Markle, died at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 24, 2000) at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Larkey worked as an inspector for General Motors, Marion. He was a member of the Bluffton Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post No. 7, Huntington.
He was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Shelby County, to Virgil and Lucille Scudder Larkey. His marriage was June 27, 1975, to Linda Babb. His wife survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Tom Larkey and Tim Larkey, both of Liberty Center; three daughters, Debrah Hollingsworth, Panama City, Fla., Mrs. Walter (Gina) Brown, Panama City Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Blake (Vicky) Walters, Bluffton; a stepson, Jeff Biddle, Huntington; a stepdaughter, Mrs. James (Vicki) Baker, Andrews; seven brothers, Rex Larkey, Roanoke, Jack Larkey, Jerry Larkey, Dick Larkey, Randy Larkey, all of Huntington, John Larkey, Bippus, and Danny Larkey, Warren; two sisters, Mrs. Dean (Joan) Teusch, and Mrs. Bob (Barb) Covey, both of Huntington; 21 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, a sister, and a stepdaughter preceded in death.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Kevin Myatt officiating.
Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to either the American Kidney Fund or the American Diabetes. Association.
Rex Rutledge
Rex Rutledge, 44, 155 Logan Street, Markle, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 26, 2000) at his place of employment, ALH Building Systems, Markle.
Mr. Rutledge was employed at both ALH Building Systems and Ecolab in Huntington. He was a 1974 graduate of Huntington North High School.
He was born Dec. 21, 1955, in Huntington, to Douglas and Robbie Bell Rutledge. His parents survive.
Also surviving is a sister, Dinah Rutledge, Huntington.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. T.R. Jones officiating.
Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery.
Josephine Horn
Josephine Weber Horn, Lafayette, died Monday (Oct. 22, 2000) at her home.
Mrs. Horn graduated from Huntington High School in 1942 and also graduated from Indiana University. She had lived in Lafayette the past 44 years. She had worked for the agronomy department of Purdue University for 23 years, retiring in 1995.
Her husband, William Horn, died in 1987.
Survivors include three daughters, Sarah Canarsky and Martha Horn, both of Lafayette, and Christine Qualman, Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Mark Weber, Fort Wayne; three grandchildren.
Calling is 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Hahn Funeral Home, Lafayette. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ann’s Church, Lafayette.

Frank C. Capozza
Frank Cataldo Capozza, 58, Indianapolis, died Wednesday (Oct. 18, 2000) in Indianapolis.
Mr. Capozza was of counsel with the law firm Katz and Korin, Indianapolis. He had previously worked as a broker with Banks Mallough Roth Realty, Fort Wayne, and had owned the Redwood Inn, Fort Wayne, and Frank’s Fuel Inc. in Tarrytown, N.Y. He had also been a member of the St. Joe Township Volunteer Fire Department, Fort Wayne, and the Scarborough Engine Company, Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., and was a member of the New York Mercantile Exchange board of directors.
He graduated from St. Lawrence University, earned a master’s degree from Indiana University at Bloomington, and received his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law.
He was born June 19, 1942, in Tarrytown, N.Y., a son of Frank Capozza and Anna Buono Capozza. His mother survives in Southbury, Conn.
Additional survivors include his wife, Melinda Williams Capozza; a son, Matthew Capozza, Huntington; a daughter, Sarah Rachel Capozza, Indianapolis; two brothers, Joseph Cataldo Capozza and Cataldo Joseph Capozza, addresses unavailable; and five grandchildren.
Calling is 5-6 p.m. Monday at Hendryx Mortuary, Cumberland Chapel, 11636 E. Washington St., Cumberland, where services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Friends of Gettysburg National Park.
Elenor F. Fishbaugh
Elenor F. Fishbaugh, 88, 170 N. Tracy St., Markle, died at 9 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 19, 2000) at the Markle Health Care Center.
Mrs. Fishbaugh was a homemaker. She was a 1930 graduate of East Rockcreek High School, Wells County. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and the Better Homes and Garden Home Economics Club.
She was born June 13, 1912, in Rockcreek Township, Wells County, to Joseph and Gelana Bell Brickley Swisher Lesh.
Her marriage was Jan. 31, 1931 in Uniondale to Leslie “Les” Fishbaugh. He died Dec. 1, 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Caralene Lupp, Uniondale; and a grandson.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Horeb Cemetery, Uniondale.

Richard D. Nave
Richard D. Nave, 76, 1215 Grayston Ave., died at 6:50 a.m. Friday (Oct. 20, 2000) at his home.
Mr. Nave, a lifelong Huntington County resident, was a graduate of Lancaster Township High School and a member of the Etna Avenue Wesleyan Church. He was retired from Essex in Andrews, where he had worked as an electrician for more than 30 years.
He was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Huntington, a son of Lloyd Nave and Myrtle Jarvis Nave. He married Phyllis C. Chapin June 30, 1945, in Huntington; his wife survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Janet) Bustos, Huntington; two brothers, Robert Nave and Larry Nave, both of Huntington; two sisters, Mrs. Alva (Dorothy) Keiffer, LaFontaine, and Mrs. Costas “Putt” (Janice) Psoinos, Tewksbury, Mass.; a stepbrother, Bernard Hubartt, Warren; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Blanche Fulton Hubartt Nave; a brother, Rex Nave; and a stepbrother, Paul Dean Hubartt.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Rev. Al Soultz will officiate. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Herbert ‘Paul’ Gearhart
Herbert “Paul” Gearhart, 81, of Markle, died Wednesday morning (Oct. 18, 2000) at his home.
Mr. Gearhart worked as a machinist at Navistar in Fort Wayne, retiring in 1979. He had also worked for the Luther Baker Lumber Company in Markle for 20 years. He was a member of the Markle United Methodist Church, the F&AM Lodge in Markle, Bluffton Masonic Lodge 145, and the Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne. He was a volunteer for the Markle Fire Department for 35 years, a Cub Master for the Markle Boy Scout Troop from 1968-69, and was a former member of the Markle Town Board. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Markle to George William and Minnie Mae Barnheisel Gearhart. He graduated from Markle High School in 1938. He married Martha Ake in Uniondale Nov. 20, 1941. His wife survives.
Also surviving are a son, Gregg Gearhart of Markle; a daughter, Cindy Stoffel of Roanoke; a sister, Wanda Schoeff of Tecumseh, Mich.; two brothers, Everett Gearhart of Lima, Ohio, and Roscoe Gearhart of Fort Wayne; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, with Masonic services at 7 p.m., at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, with calling one hour prior to services, at the Markle United Methodist Church, 145 W. Morse St., Markle. Rev. Tim Dilley will officiate.
Burial will be at Markle Cemetery.

Forrest A. Pond
Forrest A. Pond, 80, 414 E. 1st St., Warren, long active in Warren town government and as a volunteer firefighter, died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 18, 2000) at his home.
Mr. Pond was a self-employed carpenter most of his life. He had served on the Warren Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years — 19 years as chief — without missing one meeting. He was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter’s Association. He served on the Warren Town Board for many years, served on the Huntington County Civil Defense, was an honorary member of Salamonie Active Men and was a member of the Sportsman’s Club. He was awarded the Samuel Jones Award in 1999 during the Salamonie Festival in Warren and was given the key to the city.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving from Oct. 29, 1942, to Feb. 21, 1946.
He was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Wells County to Charles M. and Della Spaulding Pond. He attended Chester Center High School. He married Alice Crawford in Wells County Oct. 7, 1944. His wife survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ted (Becky) Foreman of Bluffton; two sisters, Agnes Fordyce of Warren and Girthie McCoy of Mt. Etna; a brother, Frank Pond of New Haven; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Dillon; and a brother, Wilbur Pond.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. The Warren Volunteer Fire Department will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Joe Haney officiating.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren.

Virginia A. Burke
Virginia A. Burke, 85, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 14, 2000) at the Swiss Village, Berne, where she was a resident.
Mrs. Burke was a homemaker and a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne. She was formerly employed at Berco Co., Swiss Village, and had also served as a volunteer at the Swiss Village.
She was born May 17, 1915, in Adams County to Jesse and Elizabeth Campbell Callihan. She married Herman Burke April 1, 1934, in Adams County. Her husband died in January of 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Fred Burke of Fort Wayne, William Burke of Huntington, and Don Burke of Berne; three daughters, Mrs. Norman (Elizabeth) Koons of Decatur, Mrs. Phillip (Sue) Wulliman of Berne, and Mrs. Roger (Gretchen) Lautzenheiser of Terre Haute; a sister, Mary Ellen Bauman of Geneva; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gretchen Patterson, Bernice Armantrout and Ruth Callihan; and two grandsons.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Wednesday at the Swiss Village Chapel, 1350 W. Main, Berne. Rev. Craig Maven and Chaplain Anita Rediger will officiate. Burial will be at the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
Preferred memorials are to the Swiss Village Endowment Fund or to First Mennonite Church Missions.

Donald L. James
Donald L. James, 76, Troy Cedar Lake, Whitley County, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 1, 2000) in Whitley Memorial Hospital.
Mr. James graduated in 1942 from Huntington High School. He retired in 1985 from Lydall Rubber Company, where he was a traffic controller. He also worked for the former Schacht Rubber Company, where he had served as vice president. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, and served in World War II as a sergeant in the Marine Corps.
He was born April 30, 1924 in Grant County to Harry C. and Lulu B. Crum James. His marriage was March 28, 1945 in Huntington to Doris M. Little. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Diana) Culver, Fort Wayne; two brothers, Charles James, Bryan, Ohio, and Harry C. James Jr., Columbia City; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Calling is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, where services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Richard E. Bunnell officiating.
Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, with military graveside rites performed by VFW Post No. 2689.
